lol damn straight

I was playing on a German clan server the other night and was using a machiengun with a bipod to hit people on the other side of the map.

I got three messages in that game, which became more amusing when I imagined someone yelling them in a German accent.

1) "stop camp! noob!"

2) "noob......."

3)
nooooooooooob!!!

I would have quit that server but decided to stick around after I got mail from butthurt Germans.

Lol, "camping" is such a lazy criticism. There are ways of dealing with campers if you're not a chump.

Oh, apart from spawn campers. Fuck those guys.

Edit:

I briefly played ARMA 2 around launch. The term 'full-on' would be a disservice to the gameplay, from the controls through tactics and onto the way missions could be planned were all meticulous. What's amazing is that the modding community go to town on these games, adding more depth, refining and improving various things (ACE mod??).

I didn't have the time back then to invest into it, so it never had any chance of clicking, (plus very buggy and poor performance). But if OP Flash was your thing, I'd check out ARMA 2 or 3.

I'll give them a look-see, cheers.

You really need to invest a lot of time in them, but man that feeling of satisfaction just can't be achieved with "Press A to Awesome" type games. My best hope at reclaiming that is to change jobs and be put on garden leave for like three months and just sink all my time into it. That or wait for retirement.

Seriously can't wait for that. Imagine what sweet games we'll have in the 2050s!

Call me old fashioned but Counter Strike is still gold (and any of the original Half Life mods like Day of Defeat and Team Fortress 1). Stopped playing when CS: Source came out. Still, I don't mind the Call of Duty/Battlefield -esque shoothers of today. In fact, the multiplayer is incredibly addictive!

The only series I'd currently like a HD remaster/remake of is the Timesplitters series. They were pretty much the games of my childhood, other than Unreal Tournament.

As for the shooters, I quite enjoyed the CoD games for the multiplayer. I think the last one I played was blops2. I've since sold my PS3 and haven't really felt the need to pay 40 quid to play any of them on PC.

Did you ever play the Specialist Mod/The Opera/Action Half-Life? Those games were the nuts.

Indeed. Although for me those people doing that are part of a problem that starts with bad map design.

Gosh darn it I just want to put a PC together, but everytime I start thinking about it I just run into annoying little issues like "but will a PC fit in that desk? Maybe I should get a new desk? What happens to the old one? None of these IKEA ones look like they have space either! I could get that one, but I'd have to move my bed and sofa to do it. Blargh!"

I spent so many hours playing the various zombie/zombie escape and glass maps on CS:Source. So good.

I've never actually played CS, a bit before my time!

Edit: did anyone play Source Forts? I loved that mod!

Nah I never sadly. Used to only play the mods that were at my local internet/LAN cafes back in the day. I might've maybe tried it when I eventually bought a copy of Half Life for the PC at home but didn't heavily dwelve into it. Can't remember.

Source was great but I came across a lot of cheating players who exploited the game and it just killed it for me. Coupled with the fact that all my friends went to consoles by then I didn't feel the need to play anymore :( Still, there were so many great mods and multi games.

oh and is anyone needing a new avatar? Found this

WWHD had gameplay changes, but they were for the better.

Only oddity is the Tingle Tuner. It's completely absent from the game and yet you can still find a treasure which you originally used the TT to find. However the game gives no hint towards this so you have to know about it already to find it. I guess they wanted people to use Miiverse and leave hints (which I did).

There is also another TT related treasure that you cannot find however because it does need the TT to view said treasure (the other one only used it to find it, so if you know the locations you don't need it).

That's mad, surely the gamepad could stand in for the gba? I used to love that feature.

War Peaceman

You're a big guy.

Fuck... I haven't thought about The Opera or the specialist in years. They were incredible. Oh and the Ship (?). That was something else. Wasn't there a standalone game for the Ship, now that I think about it??

I can't wait until Dota gets custom game modes. The dbz mod returning and other wacky modes would be perfect... I love PC gaming.

Jackben

bitch I'm taking calls.
I think I prefer sausages to bacon too...but honestly why not both.jpg?

Sausage wrapped in bacon, daps.

EDIT:

Yon Poet speaks for true, SC2 custom map community is insanely good.

You tried any of the Starcraft 2 custom maps? Some of them are insanely good.

no proper hd remaster has any gameplay changes, some bugfixes maybe but that's it. It's more like getting the film on bluray. If it's done well then it's totally a good substitute for the original.
Don't know if it counts but Devil May Cry 1 HD changes the controls to be consistent with the other games.

This is an animation of the Rosetta Mission's approach to a comet. It was launched 10 years ago!

Thats a fucking comet flying around our solar system that we have caught up with and are now in orbit around and then going to land on it! Rad shit. It's also a European space agency mission which has a lot of UK scientists on board

I just spent about two hours reading this article and the attendant links - http://slatestarcodex.com/2014/07/30/meditations-on-moloch/

Got it in that conspiracy thread, posted by Cyan and damn this has blown my mind. Not conspiracy stuff at all, more a transhumanist reading of our society linked to Ginsburg's Howl and Moloch. Fucking amazing stuff, Sploatee and Screaming Meat I think this is up your alley (not for plebs like NinjaBox or Aphoney).

My eyes are blurry now.

back bacon is the best kind of bacon and you've gotta grill it

don't fry that shit
Fucking amateur. Bacon is mostly forgettable (yeah I'm aware that's an Internet crime almost as bad as thinking tlou was boring as fuck and overrated) but when I have this inferior meat, it's fried in butter or gtfo.

Ooh! Thanks. Any mention of Howl immediately gets me interested. Have you ever listened to Ginsberg read it?

PS d, I thought it was out soon?!

And Jackben, yup. From Producer Michael Bay.

Always keep your Battlefield hate mail I got like 50 in my inbox.

Sometimes it fun to spend a round finding snipers and messing with them. Mainly when on a team that is stream rolling I'm not that much a dick.

Battlefield is the bomb. It's like CoD for people who can actually grow a beard.

Also, sploatee and other Morrisey fans, you might dig/be utterly mortified by this:

Marmozets - Irish Blood, English Heart (Morrisey cover)

Bleh, I don't know who the Marmozets are but I never really cared for Irish Blood, English Heart anyway. Well, except it always amused me how on the "Oliver Cromwell" line he kinda did that very Morrissey thing of crammingaloadofsyllablesintooneline even though they clearly don't fit. He does that on a load of songs, like Shoplifters of the World Unite ("alabaster crashes down, sixmonthsisalongtime").

from my experience of morrisey i'd imagine fans would be utterly mortified by default.
Haha, true. They have a tendency to be snobby twats.

Fucking pet hate that is. It doesn't fit, write something else! Flow and cadence are king.

It's not as bad as stretching syllables out to fill a gap though, at least he's usually written too many lyrics rather than too few.
