I think that's pretty normal. Like, every artist/filmmaker/musician goes through periods of feeling like they are the greatest thing ever followed by periods of thinking they're terrible. The trick I guess is getting through the lulls without giving up.

Only from the other side of the counter. A house I stayed in at portsmouth had a meter key and you would take it to the local coop and get a top up. I seem to recall there was a specific doodad they used.

Yes, they're a pain in the arse. We're on one at the minute, purely because we haven't got around to getting on to a proper supply yet.
We've been paying the previous tenant's debt for the last three months, everytime we put some money on it takes a few quid for "debt".
How does that even work? I thought the whole point of "pay as you go" was that you, you know, pay as you go?
Apparently we can be reimbursed as we've kept the receipts, but I don't even understand PAYG debt as a concept, it seems like an oxymoron to me.
We can't find ours, and it's a nightmare as we usually put it in a safe place.
Got about 10p left on the meter and no way to activate the emergency £5 credit. On Swalec's site, it says it can take up to 3 days to get one sent out. We obviously can't go without electric for that long.

Funny thing, our house at one time used to be split into different lodgings and as a result some of the rooms still have electric meters. So I've grown up having to constantly make sure the meters doesn't run low. They're so old they still use old 50p and 10p coins.
So I've just heard some people are campaigning for Meat Free Mondays. Could they have chosen a worse day (well Sunday I suppose as that would effect the roast)? People are already in a bad mood because they have to go back to work and now you want them to not consume they favourite meat based products. Sorry Paul McCartney, it'll never work.

Well that's a pain, but that's just how long post takes innit. Not really much they can do about it!
Buy some candles and read a book.
Also you should always keep your meter topped up, emergency credit burns through at twice the rate.
This weekend I acquired a badass laser (A Laserworld EL-200LED). I'm putting it in the nursery and the kid can have the coolest nightlight in the world. Gonna rig it up to strobe in time with lullabies.
Well, the missus says if I put it anywhere near the nursery she'll break both my arms, so there's still a little negotiating to be done.

Ugh, you have my utmost sympathy. First couple of times I moved house I didn't really see the issue but nowadays it's such a huge undertaking I'd just rather not.

Been a bit glum at work this past week as I get back into the early morning routine. I could really do with a pretty girls thread. Not a hot women thread, that always ends up with massive silly wobbly bums and people posting massive pics of 18 year old eastern european porn stars wearing entirely too much pastel. My weekend was crazy, went to the pub Saturday night with the guys got drunk as hell and it was pretty cool, worked a bit on sunday putting new servers live on a hangover, then went back to the pub and watched a mates band who were crazy good and then had a curry.

I was thinking of collecting more of the documentaries and uploading them for people's convenience.
A lot of them are uploaded on YouTube already, but split up into multi-part vids, which is always frustrating.

Prepayment meters were introduced as a way of recovering arrears from really bad payers, basically if you didn't pay your bill for several months and didn't at least attempt to sort out a payment plan a bailiff would come round and install one. They would set it up so it would recover so much per week, so if you wanted electricity/gas you had to pay. Once the debt was repaid you could get it reset to just pay for what you used, but a lot of people kept the debt recovery as they thought it was a good way to save money. It's not, you pay more for your electricity/gas through a prepayment meter than by any other method.

My current car is the biggest heap of shit going, its a miracle that it starts every morning or that one of the wheels hasn't fallen off yet (a very real possibility, one of the bearings is grinding badly).
What I am most looking forward to is being to able to connect my phone to the sound system and play music without having 20 CD's in the car or one of those shitty FM transmitters that intermittently picks up pirate radio stations.
My current car is the biggest heap of shit going, its a miracle that it starts every morning or that one of the wheels hasn't fallen off yet (a very real possibility, one of the bearings is grinding badly).

What do you want to do?
Anything thats not retail or call centre work. Admin or office based work would be ideal.

Should be easy enough then. Have you looked into temping agencies? They're a good way of getting some experience. If you are half good at computer and can string a sentence together you should be able to ace the tests and get some good work.
Look into local schools and colleges if you can as well, loads of Admin jobs, good atmosphere to work in as well.
Yeah, I was going down that route - only sent my notice over to my current employer today and had a job centre meeting planned as the first step.
Ive got a degree in interactive technology, so it would be nice to utilise it even a tiny bit.
Im going to just take it slowly. Im in a situation at the moment where money isnt an issue, and I dont want to end up in a job unless its totally right...but realistically, im gonna go for the first non retail office job I can get lol
