Who has more reliable release day shipping, Amazon without Prime or Best Buy?

Since there's no discount either way I'm debating between Amazon and Best Buy for Twilight Princess.

Amazon uses UPS for me. Takes 2 days for me to get once it's shipped. But if I miss it it's a real pain.
Best Buy uses Canada Post. Takes about 3-4 days to get to me once it's shipped. If I miss it, it's no problem because there's a Shoppers Drug Mart with a post office 2 minutes away.

Amazon 9/10 times for me ships things days after release. Sometimes a week or more.
Best Buy half the time ships things on release date and sometimes ships things before release date (like on Friday if release is on Tuesday next week). 1/20 times they will have some delays shipping (like with Yoshi's Wooly World).

The trick is to expect that there will be no sales on anything and then wind up pleasantly surprised when they materialize.

Hell, I'm still shocked they haven't done away with our annual E3 pre-order deals... although Best Buy sure as hell tried to gimp theirs significantly.

That's how I feel. In spite of people clamouring for sales, due to the poor dollar, and still high costs for retailers to get products into stores, I just don't feel there will be any really amazing sales.

Got an email from redflagdeals about black friday flyers. Checked the best buy one out. Saw Until Dawn for 19.99. Said "wtf!?" Then saw it was a US flyer. Said "wtf..."

I've had terrible shipping with Amazon.ca, but depends on what part of the country you are in. My Fallout 4 just arrived yesterday if that gives you any idea of how bad. They upgraded my shipping for free because of how bad delivery dates have been.

Edit: Never had any issues with BestBuy, but I always pickup in store.

Sometimes it really depends on where you live. I never had any delay on Amazon using their free shipping. It has been on release date. Same thing on BestBuy.

Thanks for the input everyone. Preordered from Best Buy, but I'm also going to hang onto my Amazon order for now because of the Pre-Order Price guarantee. Will cancel one of them closer to the release date.

No. I don't think so. At least with my experienced with them. Ordered Cities Skylines when it was cheap and the code was emailed within 5 minutes.

Ask them to try to apply the discount, nearly had an issue with one but when the employee hit the right button it happened. Should be automatic though.

Shouldn't be YMMV, I was in one store and asked them to check the price of one they didn't have in stock, they confirmed it, then I called one that did have it in stock and had them hold on to that and one of the others, went there, and again it was automatic. The only one that had any issue was (quote me) .

Pro tip! I've pasted this many times in other OT threads, but for Amazon address add another line to your address with a P.O. Box. Their system will default to using Canada Post then, a CSR told me this years ago.
