Charlie Kirk assassinated at Utah campus event

About 40% or so of dems voted Yes (I just eyeballed the numbers). It's not close to unanimous, but IMO it's a still good showing. Politics are so extreme, you would had thought nays would be 200.

But it shows that in events like this even opposition can bend the knee a bit.

If the situtation was the opposite and a liberal guy got shot on stage, I'd have the same view of it being a terrible event. And I'd expect repubs to vote Yes too to honour a fallen dem.

In cases like this, it "should" be one of those situations you'd think would be like 98% Yes, but it's the times were in. If this happened decades ago, I'm pretty sure the opposition party would vote more for it than 40%.

But in modern day politics of polar opposites it's a tough thing to do for politicians because it looks bad if they agree with the other side. They will be seen as traitors to their own side. So some tow the company (party) line going all in the same side for every issue.

Yeah, Republicans did do this with the Melissa Hortman resolution, they voted unanimously for it.

Ted Cruz joins Tucker Carlson in calling out the FCC chair.

Ted Cruz rips FCC chair's Jimmy Kimmel threat as 'unbelievably dangerous'

Federal Communications Commission Chair Brendan Carr warned that the FCC could take action against ABC and Disney over the late-night host's remarks about Charlie Kirk's death.
WASHINGTON — Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, blasted Federal Communications Commission Chair Brendan Carr on Friday for threats he made this week related to Jimmy Kimmel's show, calling the Trump administration official's actions "dangerous as hell."

"I think it is unbelievably dangerous for government to put itself in the position of saying we're going to decide what speech we like and what we don't, and we're going to threaten to take you off air if we don't like what you're saying," Cruz said on his podcast, "Verdict with Ted Cruz."
"I like Brendan Carr. He's a good guy, he's the chairman of the FCC. I work closely with him, but what he said there is dangerous as hell," Cruz said.

Cruz is chairman of the Senate Commerce Committee, which has jurisdiction over the FCC. He warned Carr's actions could have long-term consequences.

"It might feel good right now to threaten Jimmy Kimmel, yeah, but when it is used to silence every conservative in America, we will regret it," Cruz said.

If Charlie Kirk really was the hateful bigot they say he was he would still be alive. The dividers always seem to live long lives. Louis Farakhan and David Duke are alive and well into old age. Andrew Tate will probably live long as well.

They hated him because he was not the bigoted manosphere type and could debate intelligently.

He is the definition of a Manosphere type. Maybe listen to what he actually says.

The mistake Cruz is making -and you see this a lot- is thinking the current left needs precedent from conservatives before it will do x. The current left will do whatever it is able to get away with. 'They might silence conservatives', yes they already did that for years for all but the softest uniparty 'conservatives'. Conservatives can keep insisting upon playing by the rules, but they are rules which will only ever apply to themselves. They are still trying to play by Queensberry rules when they are in a knife fight.

It would be funny if conservatives started signing up in response.

And who will win?

Disney getting eaten by the audience they exclusively pandered to for the last 10 years makes it feel like Christmas is coming early, to me. I've been 'boycotting' Disney because their output sucked donkey nuts for years now. As quickly as the shift was to everyone being ultra progressive, this pendulum swing the other direction has been even faster. Ideally it'd be nice if we could just hang out in the middle for a while where media/movies are made for every demographic without trying to water down everything for mass appeal, but that's just a dream that will never happen.

There is a big difference in passing a bill that simply states that congress is against political violence and one that makes a national holiday in remembrance of the deceased.
This is really not the same

..and here we go. This will keep happening more and more frequently as support for there delusions continues to wane forcing them to crash face first into the fact that there utopia isnt coming.

Living in the land of Unicorns and Rainbows has come to an end. Like petulent little children how they writh, scream and stomp there feet, clawing at every door frame they pass as reality drags them back to the car. "Its time to go home kids."

Absolutely fucked. Hope they find these dickwads and make an example out of them, giving the highest sentence possible for the crime.

Feels like a subset of people are currently pushing to try to see what they can get away with while they still have a lot of people on their 'side', so it needs to be pushed back against with the fullest extent of the law, including the punishment part. It needs to be shown that violence inspired by politics is not what a modern first world country does or accepts. As someone that lives in a liberal area, the catch & release of criminals has been bugging me for years now, and it has definitely created problems similar to what we'll see here if it's allowed to continue.

Adorable. It is California, they won't take the time to investigate and if they did, they would be back on the streets in less than an hour.

This is the brainrot of reddit. These guys - who would refuse to wave their own countries' flag but instead bring their rainbow flags to every event they attend - are considered to be anything like the soldiers fighting in WW2?
Is it a wonder we see people celebrate murder when such a dumb take gets this upvoted?

Yea, you're sadly correct. Probably set up a local rally to cheer them on while they're at it.

Not surprising at all, like I said in my previous post here, the cult is collapsing and the schizos that populate it were so spoiled by no one daring to oppose them for years because of mass internet censorship that they're now losing their minds

Look at this shit and tell me it's not a cult in distress, they want to target their own families now

The left is being really pathetic. The best they can muster is a video cut together taken out of context. Kirk was a really stand up guy and actually relatively mainstream conservative and they are just making themselves look silly by putting this together:

Dont give them views.

People think of fundamentalism as being religious but in reality it is about being so attached to a belief that you ignore all facts and reason. The extreme left are just as fundamentalist as religoous extremists.

When you look at the world this way murder becomes justified because to them it is about good vs evil or oppressed vs oppressor. The ends justify the means in their eyes. That is why they can't even be friends with somebody who does see the world the way they do.

Truth be told I would rather deal with a criminal than them because most criminals can at least reasoned with. They cheat out of self interest which is wrong but wokies act out of some moral duty to the social justice cause and the worst atrocities are by people who claim to have the moral upper hand.
