They never prioritized Xbox either. PC was always their lead platform and then ported down from that.

I believe overall the PS5 is just easier to make. Mostly thanks to its simpler design. Sony obviously thought about the ease of manufacturing when they designed that system.

Imagine you own a business and sell more of your product to one customer over the other, who do you prioritise? How does it make sense to prioritise the one you sell less to? It makes no sense on any level. Of course Bethesda prioritised PS over XB. This is basic stuff that a child could grasp.

Let me make it even easier for you. If Bethesda were still 3rd party and had to release either exclusively on PS or XB, who do they choose? Remember business perspective. Not personal feelings.

Internally.

But from the outside the X looks much simpler than the PS5.

I think that's what's been throwing off the layman folk who are still surprised X is having these problems because on the outside it's a shoe box compared to star trek tower.

Sony has changed the insides of the PS5 to make the console even easier and less costly to make more than once.

For some reason either Microsoft is being stubborn and refuses to do the same, or they are in a position where there's little they can do.

If any of their games in current year have sold over 10m, we would officially have heard about it. They would reverse their going silent with the quickness.

What we do know straight from MS's mouth to the CMA, is that Game Pass cannibalizes sales, and we have seen sales charts after sales charts where games that go on Game Pass never chart for them. Numbers shown or not.

Do people realize that in some respects we should be comparing the full PS5 sale numbers to Xbox Series X numbers only? Like if we are determining how many people are playing current gen games at their highest resolutions and features in the console space.......the PS5 is doing 3-5 times the numbers of the XSX.

3 months after release, 343 stated that they sold through 5 million copies of Halo 5 (confirmed here by Frank) . Pachter had a meeting with Microsoft later on and confirmed that Halo 5 had sold over 10 million.

Sadly, MS never announces sales numbers for their games, so we have no idea how many copies they have sold of games. They are more focused on letting us know 30 million people played Forza Horizon 5.

It fell off charts. and MS did not have the console volume for that Now if they made a PC version at the time, then maybe a different story.

S has nothing to do with Xs component difficulties. I keep seeing people have brain farts coming to this conclusion.

The S sku not existing would barely change anything for assembly.

Phil took things as they came instead of planning ahead when it became obvious this would be a problem in 2021. COVID delayed openings and the last of the restriction policies globally that year gave him enough time to do so, but he didn't.

You can only blame Xbox for this situation. They started the generation on good footing, and now there's a chance that's all about to go away.

Coincidentally. The games expected to help Xbox Series X|S back in the early days were also all delayed because of bad or lack of decision making.

Game Pass only works if there's games on it people want to buy a console for, but all the games that were marketed to be those didn't come out because of delays. Even Halo was delayed need we forget.

Almost 3 years later and that leeway is almost gone.

We have a better idea based on lifetime system sales. We can parse that from tradition splits and sales charts legs of first party games that sell over 10m.

The Xbox One sold a hair over half the 360 in lifetime sales and Game Pass was also introduced just under 4 years into its lifecycle.

All that are major factors against 10m sellers. The game was heavily frontloaded, then dropped off the charts and had slow console sales and a sub service going against it the remainder of the gen.

It's maddening he does these estimates and every time his PS5 numbers are lower than what transpires and his Series figures are higher. funny that. He's only off by the best part of 100K for the PS5 figure...

In fact someone tallied his estimates to what is leaked eventually and his Xbox numbers on average are 5-10% higher and PS5 5-10% lower or something can't recall the exact figures!

He's meant to be a sales guru but has this obvious ingrained bias that influences his estimates.

You can't do much with the limited data available. Their estimation model is simple and relies on gut feel (by their own admission). That's why folks should not consider estimates to be actual numbers.

I know I replied to this already,. But SoT looking into it more sold over 2M without GP or Steam, and a few months later sold 5M in 2018.

Separately it was reported over a year ago that the later release on Steam sold 5M copies on Steam alone.

That's already more than 10M copies. Rare themselves supported these numbers.

But they never gave us TOTAL numbers of SoT. This proves that even Rare who is the most transparent Xbox studio is still not giving us helpful sales numbers. Helpful enough to know SoT sold more than 10M copies, but nothing else.

Like how many SoT copies sold from 2018 to 2023 excluding Steam?

For all we know SoT is about to eclipse 20M and we will never know unless someone takes a pic of a document and puts it on a forum.

StockX is selling them at retail price or below. So, no. Even in a shortage, they're not selling for marked up prices. At least on that site.

The only shortages MS is facing is the lack of demand, not the lack of supply or components. The sooner people face the reality, the better it is for their mental health. There is no turning things around for MS this generation, even after the Activision Blizzard deal concludes. Its just wishful thinking at this point.

The only X factor will be introduced when the Switch 2 will launch. Otherwise, the sales results will be the same from now on till next generation launches. Rinse and repeat for the next 5 years.

Yeah, that is the way it has been. Don't think Sony ever released PS4 Pro numbers separately. I don't know. I can see arguments for and against breaking XSS numbers out from XSX, but it doesn't really matter since Microsoft doesn't release numbers regardless.
