If Frank Quitely couldn't convince me to pick up that Mark Millar's awful horseshit, then nobody can.

Book looks stunning though, aside from the words and inevitably awful story.

If only it was an unlettered picture book that was free of Miller's taint.

Magneto Speaking of regressive X-character development, I see Magneto is just killing random people now? I guess it was an alright comic, but have I missed some event in Uncanny that turned him from good guy into sociopath again? I did read the brief issue he was in unmasking Mystique's plans which he chose to... just not tell any other mutants about I guess? God the X-books are such a mess away from the Jean Grey school.

Uh, did you miss the part where it's explained over the course of multiple pages that Magneto is, pretty much as always, fighting for mutantkind by murdering the fuck out of anyone that would do harm to a mutant? Yeah, they could've pushed the turn a bit harder in Uncanny, but it really isn't that much of a turn. Magneto doing whatever it takes has been a thing since day one.

But I didn't come here for that. I came here to tell you that anyone that's surprised that Warren Ellis wrote a good done-in-one issue with all kinds of hooks to come back to later has missed a lot of things in comics, starting with Planetary. Shalvey is still a fucking excellent artist, which is hella not surprising. Moon Knight #1. GET IT.

Either Conner/Palmiotti/Gray Power Girl or Kathryn Immonen's run on Journey Into Mystery w/ Lady Sif..
Lady Sif run was great. Valero Schitti is waiting for that breakout role to become a comics superstar. JiM needs to return or Thor/Asgard needs a second book. Desperately praying that Moon Knight is good.....

I caught onto that book way way way too late. Which is weird, because I remembered really liking the previews of the issue with SpOck.

These are good. The zatanna series from a few yearsago is also recommended.

This just reminded me to look out for the Zee/Black Canary OGN in May.

No! My digital code supplier is sick and won't get his books until tomorrow :(. Magneto and Moon Knight will have to wait.

Look for me on the local news, I'll be the guy arrested for trying to burn down a Nintendo exec's house.

I believe the de facto good Magneto of modern days story I read was in Uncanny 534.1 by Gillen I believe where him saving the entire city from an earthquake like it was nothing was his own press release. This was all during the phase of Magneto realising he couldnt be a murderous asshole anymore because it just ended up coming back onto innocent mutants in kind.

This new run is clearly chasing the Fassbender smouldering murder rage angle, and its not really done anything to show where on earth its come from, considering how Charles death affected Erik. As a MAX thing it woulda been cool, but like so many X-books it just doesnt match anything thats been going on in X-Men in the last decade.

While i liked the reveal of FE6, the entire thing has been slowly plodding along. If anything, it feels like reverse BotA where the reveals happened at the beginning and not the end, but without the charm.

I haven't read it yet since I'm picking it up later today but if it's as you described then I'll probably be disappointed. Magneto is really good when he was given depth and probably when I disliked Morrison's Magneto so much was it felt lazy and just went to lazy "I kill everyone" angle instead of giving any intricacies to his personality. I'll see how it is when I pick it up, I'm really hoping it's good.

I'm about to pull the trigger on some IST goodness. Does anyone have feedback on these?

FBP: Federal Bureau of Physics TP Vol 01
Lazarus TP Vol 01
Prophet TP Vol 01 Remission
Zero TP Vol 01 An Emergency

$5.79 a pop. Seems like a steal.

1) Yes
2) Mmmmm soft yes
3) Yes
4) Hell yes

All are at least bracing reads if not just straight up groundbreakers. Zero is best of the lot. Prophet is bonkers, but if you've ever loved Heavy Metal Magazine, it's custom made for you (only with indie art gods instead of like Frazetta)

Thanks. I'll hold off on Lazarus. I think I have the first two or three issues on Comixology, so buying the TPB would be a bit redundant.

Zero was a must-read based on feedback I received earlier in the thread.

I can at least tell you that these look very good on a shelf.

Does IST notify you when a package ships? I always get paranoid when placing orders and it's been almost a week.

I've placed about 5 orders from them in the past two months, and I've always received shipping notification.

EDIT: If you sign into your account, and view the order details it should tell you the status of the order. If they're still waiting on an item it may say pending fulfillment.

Me too. I've ordered 3 times with them so far, always gotten a shipping confirmation, and always shipped out in less than a day. Something may be wrong with your order, I would contact them.

Yeah I think nuMags works best in an ensemble where is no-fucking-around style works well alongside the more innocent X-Men. It's a shame they're spinning him off and darkening his character, he was the best bit about Uncanny lately.

tbh I actually liked that portrayal because it was more a comment on the character and comics in general "we can't keep doing this, it's stupid". The way I read it was that Xorn was such a promising character and then OH NO it's Erik again lulz. IIRC by this point in the run Morrison was experiencing difficulties with the editors was was in a generally dark place, so it's him saying "OK this is what you want, go fuck yourselves" which I quite enjoyed, it was a bit punk rock.

Wait, so he was having issues with the editors? That makes me less angry but still disappointed. He built it up and could have had a fantastic ending but instead it just ended sort of crappy and abruptly. That's really shitty if that was caused by the editors.

Oh yeah one of the books has a little symbol next to it that means "not picked and scanned" so I guess that's holding the whole thing up. Thanks!

Earth 2 was total crap this month. Begone with you foul book!

Coming back to UXM and it being Bacchaloless was a pleasant surprise, too bad he's back next issue.

Batman Superman Annual #1 was a pretty cool Warworld adventure. I like how Pak treats both "families", specially Red Hood and Supergirl.

I know brah. The further it gets away from Robinson's intention and more towards the editors and Taylor's the worse it gets. Destroy. Destroy. Destroy. The annual sucked. That was the best origin they could realize? Destroy. Destroy. Destroy. What can't there be happiness? You lose tension with all this mass destruction. You can create compelling stories with a smidge lighter tone. Taylor's and the editors is to just make this a main line Injustice Gods Among Us.

See that Fatale is getting a deluxe, anyone reading that series? If so how is it? I just finished Criminal deluxe vol 1 and enjoyed it. Starting on vol 2 this week.

Wolverine and the X-Men #1 was a pleasant surprise. On the one hand, the very much should have taken a break of a month or two since this feels way too hot on the heels of the last one (last week was it??). But the comic itself was very good. Very sweet, nice to be back in the school. It all feels right so far. Hope they keep it in school for the foreseeable future.

Vol 1 & 2 were great. Can't say how 3 and 4 are. I hear it's kinda fell off quality wise. I'd say pick it up if you like Brubaker.

Yep, Rafa nailed it. This month's issue was so bad it makes me wonder if the good bits from the beginning of Taylor's run that editorial gave him to use. Regardless this book has been dropped, too much good stuff out there (and coming from Image) to throw money away on destruction porn.

Speaking of t-bolts apparently the current arc features strong guy from X-factor (who is now the king if he'll) , which makes want to pick the current arc up

New Punisher today! Aw yiss.

When does American Vampire: Second Cycle start? I'm jonesing for more Pearl Jones.

Also, how's the new Moon Knight? I probably will wait for trades/HC for that one if it's good.

That arc ended with last issue. But yes, it featured Guido King of Hell.

Also, this week's Nova had another awesome cosmic guest star (Aside from Beta Ray Bill)
Universe's Greatest Russian Psychic Canine

Two weeks from now. :D
