Crystal Dynamics is working with The Initiative on Perfect Dark

Who cares? At this point is pretty common to outsource things to other devs, especially for huge games. Imagine if Sakurai and his team had to do all the works by themselves for Smash Bros. Ultimate. As long as directors will be from their team, their vision will be intact (and we will see if will be a good thing or not, since this is the first game from The Initiative).

Assuming you are pretending here, its shit.
Did you play it? No?
I did. It's objectively better than the first in every way. People were just butthurt it wasn't revolutionary.
no. and at this point report
2k more person's worked on the game ...talking about who did the game....lol
you guys have no idea kn how the industry works....really ..better you stop.to talk about this stuff

and what's arts? soundsf fx? music? textures? 3d models? so basically standing how you think naughty did the wrote the plot and the animation? as i repeat stop to talk just pls

and so to conclude have you seen who are the people in the small team of the initiative? do you think they are the latest arrivals? the most come from r * CrystalD or SSM naughty dog and others first psrty Sony studios
Omg, learn english.

David Jaffe calling for Phils Head over this….

Sure why not, 1st party gaming output has been a struggle for Xbox with constant problems. Not tooling your premier studio to roll out said AAAA is another failure, needing to reach out to B grade AAA devs to dig you out of the hole is highly embarrassing. Where does the buck stop?

exactly it isn't did you see the people who have played the test flight how excited are they and how much they liked halo?

u tried

Halo Infinite is probably the most laughably mismanaged AAA game of the last 10 years.

To cite it in support of Perfect Dark is pretty dumb.

The buck stops with his fanbase who are always finding new creative ways to make excuses for him.

People conveniently forget he was head of XGS up until 2014. All these years later he's still figuring out this whole studio management thing.

Xbox fan base loyalty is remarkable. Jim should move there to get the respect he doesn't get from PS fans.

Edit: Phil is "thrilled" CD is developing the game….😂

Pretty sure hes aiming more for Matt Booty not Phil Spencer in that video.

man did you see a single scene of the game? where are the troubles? show me I'm waiting

Fun to see people tripping over themselves to extreme fanboy here. When you're quoting vague Jaffe-isms you know it's a reach :messenger_tears_of_joy: (No, I haven't watched his video, would rather take a Clorox eyebath).

No one has any idea how Perfect Dark will turn out, or what's the motivation here. Studio collaborations seem like a good idea to me, and I'm sure I see it extolled as a virtue of Sony's 'studio management' when it happens there. Which it does. All the time.

I do think the tweet was a PR fumble though. Absolutely no need to announce it like that, especially without context. Just fuels the console wars again, sadly.

If the game ends up being good I couldn't care but if it's not out in the next three years and it's poor…I really don't understand how these games continue to look to have issues.
I mean halo and forza look to be hits but they deffo need to tighten up some stuff Or change when they show games like fable.

this is from an Microsoft Xbox fan.

Evaluate the overall picture here and focus less on the minutiae.

This deserves roasting. Join in, not only is it cathartic, positive outcomes can be had as seen recently with rollbacks for Gold hikes and Horizon FW slimy upgrades. Shit is being mismanaged, it's beyond obvious at this point.

Who the hell is that loser David Jaffe? Didn't he get fired from Naughty Dog?

He's not even qualified to be Phil's butler.

Jaffe is obviously jealous that Phil turned the Xbox division into a monster and he wants him gone like the rest of the MS hater fanboys.

You, Jaffe and your ilk are so transparent.

No chance, it's unquestionably Phil

I watched the video yesterday so i might be misremembering but im pretty sure he wasnt taking aim at phil.
Got any timestamps or quotes from the video that make you think hes aiming at Phil instead of the head of Xbox Game Studios?

P.S He was also speculating alot. We have no real idea whats actually going on with the game other than its seemingly a new development technique to co-develop with another "big" studio.

Too bad the reimagining of Perfect Dark didn't go 3rd person.

The spying and gadgetry in Perfect Dark along with Joanna would've made the perfect 3rd person game and heroin.

there's absolutely nothing of obvious a part for wanting to push this narrative see yaa when we will see a single pixel of this game ) meanwhile all the delay from Sony are an perfect example of good development I'm sure you will use the same energy to ROAST it .... lol

Jeff Grubb giving us insight knowledge you guys should listen.

Had no idea about Smash Bros or Nintendo outsourcing so much, this thread has been eye opening.

I hope this is just a sign of the game moving further into development but still have my worries about the studio.

This is what Xbox gets for transparency in 2021 I guess lol

Who cares. MS will probably own CD soon anyway, and then it will all just be 1st party again.

Dude, if you are going to attack jaffe, don't do it without looking him up.

I know he was once a prominent figure at SCE. Don't remember if he worked on GOW or Twisted metal.

That's why his opinions on anything Xbox are nothing but fanboy console warrior nonsense.

He's one of the most prominent advocates of Gamepass and regularly calls out Sonys bad PR and policies, I wouldn't call him a "fanboy console warrior".

no that was the last guardian ......the cite was done to make understand people that is V E R Y common to get studios in help
If you think The Last Guardian didn't have a troubled dev cycle and didn't enter dev hell you're crazy.

That doesn't make any sense. Grubb says "this is normal" but then turns it all around on CD and asks if SE is "ok" because they are taking MS outsourcing money. What? I thought this was all "normal"? Either it is "normal" or it is not, Grubb. So it is no big deal for MS to get help from CD, but it is a big deal for CD to give it?

Again, I'm not making any assumptions about this either way, but Grubb just says a lot of stupid shit, imo.

2018 Studio created with devs. from EA, Sony, TakeTwo etc.
2019 more devs. are joining them for something "ground-breaking"
2020 some Insider has something to say ...
2021 Crystal Dynamics (u no awenchairs rite?) joins, helps out
2021 Early in development

Seems like an extensive pre-production period.

Now that development proper is about to begin it seems they need more manpower and Crystal Dynamics will co-develop.

I wonder if Everwild will see something similar?

Also if you think this collaboration just started Thursday (when it was announced/tweeted) you'd have to be daft.
They've most likely got some fantastic results/progress already which prompted them to move forward with an official partnership.

You don't need to see the game to make that assumption, Jaffe has industry experience when it comes to things like this.

Yes, his opinions are pretty stupid sometimes especially when he talks business decisions, but what he's saying is true. You do not publicly announce a major support studio when you're marketed as a AAAA studio and hasn't released a game yet.

Remember, they were formed in 2018 and haven't even released a gameplay trailer yet with 3 years in dev - we got a CG trailer and now they need help?

Seems likely they are struggling.

People conveniently forget he was head of XGS up until 2014. All these years later he's still figuring out this whole studio management thing.

What 'buck' would that be, in this case? Contracting a development partner, a step that was most certainly planned from day 1?

Your post makes no sense.

Is Square Enix ok because they didn't use Crystal Dynamics to help them on their own SE game??

SE is the publisher that owns Crystal Dynamics.

The fact they contracted CD out to XGS is why they are questioning SE.

Yes it's normal for AAA projects to use outside contracting to help develop games.

99.99% of the people that post here know that.

Yet you have all the concern trolling.

he basically pointed out at the pr...not at any real problem he didn't like the way they announced this partnership that's it
the rest is pure imagination

They've never been marketed as an 'AAAA' studio, though.

I mean it's not uncommon for Microsoft for sure. Relic is co-developing Age of Empires IV and that studio is owned by Sega. Same for Halo Wars 2 which was co-developed by Creative Assembly which is also owned by Sega.

Really the stranger thing for me is why is Square Enix okay with that. Maybe they are in preproduction of new Tomb Raider and many devs would be making Jack shit so they are lending them for full production of Perfect Dark until they are needed for TR.

It also means that Microsoft have some target for end of production because they can't for sure have those developers forever.

I was wondering how big Worlds Edge is and what kinda of employees they have
