By 'works' you mean it is going to be utterly devastating and heartbreaking when Post-Crisis Superman's suspicions and aspersions inevitably push him solidly back to the dark side?
Maybe!
Finally finished my Rebirth books. I'd rank 'em Detective>WW>Flash>Action>Aquaman.
Do not get the Aquaman praise, tbh. It's a decent title, but not really telling anything that I'm feeling compelled to buy every two weeks, and art is just decent. There's a pretty big gap between it and Action, which was solid. A little bit of awkward writing, but I'm looking forward to the Mr. Oz mystery starting to coalesce.
Flash had decent emotional hooks, some interesting character writing (I like how they're handling Wally), and a great setup for the rest of this arc. Also don't understand the complaints about the art. It's cartoony, and the ink work is a little overly sketchy looking (probably in an effort to make it more kinetic), but overall it's quite good.
WW did a really excellent job telling its story, with building tension and great visuals. I love the panel with Steve looking at what looks like Diana's mug shot; can't wait for the Year One issues to start hitting, that's gonna be a great story. I think part of the reason people are turned off by what we've seen so far is that Diana's monologues are a liiiiiiiittle stilted, but that'll probably not be a problem after this.
Detective was all around excellent. Cass and Tim were cute together, and I like Basil's parts a lot. Team Batman vs. the Bat Army, let's do this.
