Dead Rising 2 |OT|: He knows his way around a zombie or two.

Does Achievement progress carry over in DR and DR2? Like if i rescue certain survivors on one play through, and then the rest on a subsequent playthrough, will that count? Or do all Achievements need to be done in one go?
In the first game, the beginning of the achievements clearly state whether or not some have to be done in Type: 1 Play REQ, Type: Total REQ. Dead Rising 2 lists floating about don't show this... yet.

Pretty sure in Case Zero all survivors, and the 1,000 kills must be in one playthrough. I think created combo items can carry over into total playthrough.

I wonder if the success of the Case Zero might actually negatively affect sales of the main game? I know they have the 'carry your level 5 character into the full version' hook for the 360 version, but do you think some folks might be all like 'yeah, I bought the five dollar version and I'm good. That's all the Dead Rising I need." ?

It'll be interesting to see how the sales on the 360 stack up against the other versions.

...oh my god, I sounded so much like Sales-Age GAF there. What's wrong with me?

Nah, the reaction to Case Zero was extremely postive and raised the level of hype about Dead Rising 2 (which was pretty low) a lot. IMO that will outweigh the people jumping ship by far.

Most people went from not buying before the case zero to definately buying after playing case zero. I mean its got coop and chuck can fix anything!

I enjoyed Case Zero, got 200/200 and it got me looking forward to Dead Rising 2 which wasn't even really on my radar before. Now after a little reading, I'm probably going to pick it up. Really happy about the addition of Co-Op.

Are there any deals going on this week for it?

Will be picking this up, but waiting for impressions (even though I played and loved case zero on 360). I want to play co-op, which limits me to the PC or PS3 versions. I'd prefer PC, but if it's another lacklustre port I won't even consider it

I thought the ps3 version looked good but I think their were less zombies then the videos I have seen on the xbox version. What do you guys thinks from watching ps3 and xbox version?

Yeah, tearing looks terrible in those PS3 videos. About 12min into the first video he's just hanging out in a small hallway and it's still doing it. Right smack dab in the middle of the screen too :lol

I beat Case Zero today and I have to say it didn't look as bad as that ps3 footage (if Case Zero is indicative of the quality of the retail 360 code). Really liked Case Zero. If I'm understanding it correctly I get to bring my combo cards, scratch cards and 5 levels in the Dead Rising 2? Only hope they tighten up vehicle controls if there are some in DR2 and that they somewhat reduce the loading time. It was quite hilarious at the end of Case Zero. The motocycle controls were very poor and I would get stuck on random junk on the street :lol. I kept dying because of the time limit so it was like Game Over -> Load Save ->Loading Loading, Loading -> Get on the bike -> Loading, Loading, Loading -> Cutscene -> Skip Cutscene -> Loooooooooooooooaaaaaaaaaaaading, Loooooooooooooaaaaaaading -> Get stuck on garbage on the street -> Time runs out -> Cycle restart.

Combo and scratch cards transfer, so does your level. As for money, you have about 2k, which might be default start money regardless of an import save or not.

Probably not. A guy I work with had never heard of DR1 or 2 and he bought Case Zero because it was so cheap. He loved it and is planning on getting DR2 as soon as it is released. He is also excited for the DLC as well. I know a couple more people who didnt care much for DR1, but are planning on buying DR2 based on their experience with Case Zero. It is a small sample size, but all of the people I know who have played Case Zero, are going to buy DR2.

What looks so bad about it?

Like I said in the comparision thread, something isn't right in that video. I have a hard time believing the framerate NEVER leaves like 20 fps when we've clearly seen earlier builds from E3 and what not suggesting otherwise

Watching a stream and I notice a few improvements:

-Interaction with survivors has improved. You can now create a personal army with automatic weapons. They can finally take care of themselves.
-Zombie AI looks a lot less aggressive. A good thing in my opinion.
-I think the game pauses when you look at your watch.

It mostly looks the same, but all these tweaks make it look easier to play.

I was watching a HQ steam of a guy messing around in the first Casino area.

All the neon lights, the colours and the enviroment in general in there looked beautiful.

Any words on PS3 performance? I'm on doubt over the PC and PS3 version, or rather on doubt that I can play it on PC decently.

Blue Castle, or should I say, Capcom Vancouver have made pretty good PS3 games in the past so they know what they're doing.

Are you saying that video encode is indicative of the actual tearing in the game?

I'm not much of a graphics horse, but I want my 1080p and I def don't want tearing and shit. I hope the PC version turns out nicely, usually the Capcom PC games are great but this is a bit of an odd duck.

Because that's like determining the frame rate by watching a video.

Well, I've never seen a video recording introduce tearing into a game that didn't already. If Dead Rising 2 on PS3 doesn't actually tear so badly, all the better.

Where is everyone buying this? Any deals anywhere?

No immediate deals unfortunately. Amazon has $10 credit for it, and KMart is supposed to have a deal as well - probably a coupon.

edit: KMart is having $20 coupon

Not really a deal, but you get a fucking sweet ninja outfit if you reserve it at Gamestop:

Reserve Dead Rising 2 and receive the Ninja Theme Pack. The pack includes 4 pieces of Ninja clothing. When Chuck wears just one piece of the outfit, it unlocks new abilities in Chuck associated with the Ninja theme. When all 4 pieces of the outfit are worn, additional Ninja-like animations are also unlocked! Available online and in-store while supplies last.

don't know about the full game, but it doesn't in case zero.

I was looking at my watch when I got attack by a zombie and exited out the screen

It looks the same for me, I mean the PS3 version. Of course the lack of AA is noticeable, but nothing serious, and maybe it's my mind tricking me, but it seems that the PS3 version loads just a little bit faster.

Any german speakers can tell if the voice off dude is commenting on any technical aspects?
The footage looks good enough I think, it's no Bayonetta at least.
he said that the textures seems to be nice but the loading times a little bit long which is disturbing the game flow.

:lol like 5+ people playing it on jtv, was like "how the hell did they get it this early" then saw its been pirated, :( i want to play now!

Some German retailers are selling this game since thursday.

I'm still on the fence with DR2. I've heard horrible things about the framerate.

played the game for 3 hours (not pirated, its out in germany since yesterday).

the biggest problem is the framerate. when you go outside, the game slows down to 20 frames (maybe less). when you ride in a vehicle (cross bike) it gets down to 10 frames. in coop its even becomes unplayable sometimes. played on 360, installed.

everything else is great, even the load times are improved slightly (compared to case zero).

still, the framerate is a big issue and needs to get fixed with a patch. there are just too many zombies on-screen, which causes the performance problems. if they would cut the amount of zombies by 50% it would run smoother and still have more zombies than dr1.

WAT WHERE

I can only see UK imports on Amazon.
I doubt there's an actual german release for the game.
