I’ve just watched a good half hour of the game on stream...

Oh... Oh dear... It’s not even that good looking, aside from some nice landscapes. But Jesus the story and story telling is appalling, and the gameplay? Utterly tragic...

I didn’t think I would be THIS negative. I knew it wasn’t for me but wanted to check incase... and...

No. No way. This is awful...

My guy, you know streaming uses like the worst codec, right? The priority isn't quality, it's (like in death stranding) the delivery.

Judging a game by how it looks via streaming is very not smart.

The codec doesn't matter, I can see what's going on, some streams are very high quality. Don't get your hopes up, it's no Red Dead.

Does the Pro version have an unlocked framerate or something?, i'm watching a stream and the bottom 3rd of the scrren has some bad screen tearing. Unless its the stream itself.

Watching people play it on twitch, 3 hours in now.

It's basically 1 big movie with tiny bits of walking segments in between.

Faces are wonky at times to the point it just looks bad. Othertimes its solid.

Are you gonna glance at that baby pod late some night and be like "idiot, that could've been a PS5"? I mean, it's not really a huge chunk of money in the grand scheme of things and unless you buy a bunch of CEs for all your games, it's kinda neat to splurge on one and enjoy the loot.

For some reason I procrastinated on my preorder and then started getting impatient so hooked my ps4 up to direct connect for the DL to be done by 9pm PST. I wake up at 4 am but I so badly want to start it out lol

I mean, they are very similar animations and elements to MGSV which was unanimously praised for its gameplay. This narrative of 'bad gameplay' is just a narrative created by haters who have not played the game. Or worse, it is a euphemism for not killing enough NPC's, which is really a condemnation of all gaming.

There's no context to justify the disparity between what's said and the scores it got. It's pretty much like they're saying "this sucks, BUT it's a masterpiece". In every review I've read about the game, and I've read a lot of them, it feels like the reviewer has to do some pretty heavy mental gymnastics to praise it. It's Stockholm Syndrome: The Game.

Or maybe.....like a lot of things in life it takes a bit of serious commitment and dedication that creates a bond between you and something. If you're looking for instant gratification go jerk off. I criticize THE HELL out of just about every Kojima game but I also respect him enough to play it before I slam it. IMO this one actually has the best chance for me to like the complete product. More often than not I like the story concept, hate the game play, and hate the dialogue. I genuinely don't understand the genius but am almost always day 1. Make your own opinions!

As if all games are not repetitious by nature...
The gameplay serves the narrative and themes, that is the vision. What greater message would abstract fun serve? This isn't Mario or Bubsy 3d... maybe that's what you're looking for!?

I can pick choice quotes from any game with 10/10 or 9/10 ratings that paint it in a worse light than it actually is.

Here one of the best games of this generation (according to many), Bloodborne.

I smell Day's Gone all over again. This game is going to do better than I thought. Xbox fanboys hatin on Sony exclusive that got a 70s, hatin on a Sony exclusive that got an 80s. What do these 2 have in common? It's going to sell better than Xbox exclusives this year.
