These are codes that can be redeemed on Bungie.net. Most are grimoire cards but some are emblems and a couple are shaders-- further gear customization options; we didn't have access to them in the Alpha/Beta I don't think.

Anyways, BNet -> Profile Name -> Redeem Codes.

I should elaborate and not be a bastard.

The cards are just lore items that potentially may have benefits later on. The Emblems are decorations for your character information. The Shaders are colors you can customize your armor with.

Shaders are a must, basically.

You're right, Shaders sound pretty cool. It took all of two minutes to enter the codes, just staring at the digital unlock screen until lift off!
