A couple of years ago, I gave in to fomo and bought a Switch. I picked up a bunch of Nintendo exclusives, but honestly, I didn't enjoy most of them(except Zelda totk). The only one I don't regret is Mario Party Superstars — we play it as a family and it's fun. But for the rest, I kind of regret spending the money.

Games like the 2d Marios(mario maker 2+2d deluxe bros?), 3d Marios(Odyssey/Bowser's Fury), Smash Bros, Mario Kart, 3d kirby, yoshi(demo), pikmin 3-4(demo)... They all bore me after about half an hour for some reason. Right now I'm playing Odyssey again, but I've started yawning mid-session and thinking about quitting. Still, the $60 I paid keeps haunting me, so I force myself to keep playing.

I've also tried both 2d and 3d metroid games back then, but I had pretty much the same reaction to those too(metroid dread demo wasn't great either).

Zelda TOTK, though — I really loved that one. I'm also planning to play Botw sometime soon(Ocarina of Time was great too-- I hated some dungeon mechanics and final boss fight but it was awesome overall).

So what do you think about Nintendo games outside of Zelda? Do you actually enjoy them?

Animal Crossing, Tomodachi Collection, Xenoblade, Fire Emblem, etc are all great.
I don't really care much for Mario or Kirby though.

Zelda, Mario, Metroid, Smash, Animal Crossing, Kirby (3D), Donkey Kong (3D), Mario Kart, Xenoblade, Fire Emblem, and Pokemon Legends

That's a gigantic list of properties from Nintendo I enjoy, I think the only publisher who has more properties I enjoy is Sega, and Sega is barely doing anything with most of the ones I love

Heh I like Nintendo exclusives but I don't like Zelda. BOTW was my first Zelda, tried the other ones, and they are meh

Yes.

Metroid
New donkey Kong looks great
Smash
Starfox

And I'm always curious on Xeno series and fire emblem. I'm currently trying to beat Xenoblade 1 to see if this series is for me or not.

Yeah. Obviously the 3d mainline Mario games, the sports games ( when they don't suck), Mario kart, animal crossing, fire emblem etc. Don't care about metroid or Luigi's mansion.

Almost all of them. Even the obscure stuff like Tomodachi Life.

Splatoon, Metroid, Zelda, MK, Luigi's Mansion, lots of great stuff. Donkey Kong is gonna be sick.

I only buy Nintendo consoles for Zelda, then end up playing other games on them as well.

So yeah, technically a 'Zelda machine' for me.

Zelda, 3D Mario, Mario Kart, 2D Metroid, 2D Donkey Kong, Metroid Prime, upcoming 3D Donkey Kong, Captain Toad.

Those are all must-play titles.

Their older games from the 16-bit era are also up there among the best in the industry.

Remaster Super Metroid and let Lizardcube who made Dragon's Trap do hand-drawn visuals and it would be an instant GOAT.

Yes, they got many great IPs. Would love to see a new Kid Icarus, Punch Out!, F-Zero, Wario Land, Ice Climber, Excitebike, Luigi's Mansion and many more.

Changes from game to game. Their most consistent franchise to me has been Metroid.

I find almost all their games either 9-10/ 10 or 2-3/10.

There is no middle ground really.

My Switch made me realize I don't like most of their 1st party stuff anymore.

F-Zero nowhere to be seen.
Starfox got fucked hard with Zero.
Fire Emblem went from fantasy kino to waifu pandering.
Zelda went from linear, tighly designed adventure to open world slop with no sense for progression nor narrative.
Splatoon I don't care about, and the same goes for Pikmin which imo peaked at 2.
Xenoblade I just can't get into. (Sadly, games look quite cool but that combat system ain't for me)

Rare got bought by MS eons ago and Treasure hasn't released a game since Sin & Punishment 2.
And not mention the 2nd half of the Switch life being filled with lazy remasters, ports and outright roms running on poorly coded emulators.

All that leaves me with is Mario, Luigi, DK and the best for last, Metroid. That's franchise is as kino as it's ever been, hope the new Prime game is cool.

But yeah as someone who grew up with Nintendo consoles I'm disappointed in their current output, a mix of lack of quality and care in some places and too much of giving me stuff I don't care about in others.

Zelda and Mario. I didn't get a Switch 2 because I didn't think it offered that much yet. Mario Kart is great but it didn't look like an upgrade but I guess Mario Kart 8 was a Wii U game but still nothing grabbed me. Now... If OOO remaster or hell a port from the 3DS had been announced, day one.

I used to love the majority of Nintendo's stuff prior to the Switch era. Outside of a select few releases I really didn't care for Nintendo's output on that console.

As it stands I'm really only excited for Tomodachi Life but if the new genderless Mii thing is going to mess with how couples work then I won't bother.

What if I said I don't really "like like" Zelda, but like many other of their IPs?

The less "Nintendo-like" a game is, the more I'm interested in it: Metroid, F-Zero, Punch-Out!!, Wave Race, etc.

Nintendo got the touch. 95% of output is top quality.
They do produce some experimental stuff which faceplants. Like Arms and the upcoming wheelchair game, but they get quickly forgotten.

Yes but few and far between.
I voted yes, but this would be me as well.

I LOVE Zelda and think it's easily top 5 franchises of all time, but outside of Zelda there aren't many I care about. I like Pikmin, Fire Emblem, and Splatoon but I don't really care about stuff like Mario/spin offs, Kirby, Metroid (I want to like these games but I can't and I find them insanely overrated), etc.

I know Pokemon is partly owned by Nintendo. I loved Red/Blue and the original 2 seasons of the anime but I haven't really played anything past that more than a couple hours. I'm what they would call a Gen 1er I guess.

I'm one of those few who have no interest in Zelda, never even complete any of the game.

TotK might sway me to play it but I don't have a Switch.

Yes I like the Xenoblade Games, Fire Emblem (as long as its not like Three Houses) and Metroid too.
I don't much care for the rest, exect random one off stuff like Kid Icarus Uprising or Astral Chain.

Arms was great, it def could have been meatier, but it was a good game.

Also, it had the best art style of any Nintendo game and possibly the entire last gen.

Mario. Zelda and Metroid.

That's it for Nintendo.

Metroud Prime 4 might be the game that gets me to purchase a Switch 2...but the screen being such shit has me thinking that waiting for a revised model will be better.

Of course, I may just wait to play Metroid Prime 4 via emulation.

Its not even a Zelda Machine to me, not for those two boring empty world games at least.
I would buy 3D Marios, Canonical Zelda like Links Awakening or decent racing games like FZero but surely not for Anal Crossing or Pokemon

Botw is a poor overrated open world game.

I really wanted to like it, but.
Breakable weapons. Get clothes fitting the environment.
No real content besides going in these cave things and farm orbs to upgrade yourself.

I got my money's worth, but I am not interested in completing the game at all.

I do like their other games though

Hell yeah bro, Zelda ain't even my favorite(it is one of them).

Fire Emblem, Xenoblade Chronicles, Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze, Mario Kart, Super Mario 3D World, Mario Odyssey, Smash Bros, Pikmin, F Zero, Starfox, Paper Mario, fucking Metroid, not even counting Pokemon and Animal Crossing. WTF these are some of the best games in existence.

I voted 'Nintendo is for kids' by mistake and can't change my vote. I wanted to vote 'yes'

Oh well. At least the vote isn't public and nobody will know unless they read this post 🤷

WarioWare is probably my favorite Nintendo franchise. I love Pikmin, Mario, F-Zero and Mario Kart as well. Some of the other franchises like Luigi's Mansion, Paper Mario, and Metroid can be a bit hit or miss, but they'll always have my interest. The new Donkey Kong looks great too.

Pokemon
F zero
Mario Kart
Mario RPG/Paper Mario/Mario and luigi
DK

yeah I like quite a few.

Even if they don't appeal that much to me lately, their franchises are like comfort food lol.

Nintendo makes the best games period. it's not even an opinion at this point. While others are trying to replicate the movie experience in game form Nintendo still puts out actual gameplay first video games and they are still masters at it.

In the past, yeah. These days... not so much.

Metroid under the new spaniard team has become unbearably average, it can't even keep up with indie Metroidvanias anymore. What a downfall in quality. Prime 4 looks like it was made with AI. Pokemon had some decent ideas with Arceus, but is completely ruined by a lack of production values. The good reputation of Mario RPGs still stems from 20 year old games and remakes, while new entries are super uninspired.

3D Mario had its last standout game 8 (?) years ago with Odyssey. Xenoblade has too much pedo-shit in it and terrible combat.

Zelda has become wonky too, tbh. The new open world concept was needed, but felt unfinished until Tears came out. The last 2D game felt undercooked.

For me, the Switch is all about Zelda and 3D Mario. The original Switch was pretty great because it also let me enjoy games from other developers while travelling. However, ever since I picked up a Steam Deck, my focus has completely shifted, I'm only interested in playing Zelda and Mario titles on the Nintendo hardware now.

I like Mario and Animal Crossing. And Tomodachi Life for pure insanity.

Oh yeah, and Metroid.

Yes.

Xenoblade, Metroid, Fire Emblem, Donkey Kong, Mario, Splatoon, Pikmin, etc.

Nintendo has really impressed in their ability to make high quality experiences across so many genres.
