So is the trailer we were meant to get today the one that got leaked on Friday night... or was that Saturday's trailer, and Sunday's trailer got pushed to last night? Confusion!

I'm confused to, people say it was Sunday's trailer that was leaked, but I also remember that the Sunday trailer was supposed to be longer, but it was 30 seconds shorter than the 2nd one.

It makes sense for it to be the longer one to be shown first, why ask everyone to tune in to see a trailer if they go and release a better, longer one online the next day? The shorter one was released in Australia first properly, then leaked on the FB page, so that might have been the one they were going to show on Saturday, it's anyone's guess.

Rory does die all the time and the show knows it lol there's a reference to it at the end of the season you can look forward to. It's a small one though haha
While I know it's slightly OT, I think it's better than bumping the S7 thread and having two Who threads up top again, but -- I mean, I agree about the potions and the books of Saxon (lol) and all that shit, but regarding him talking about his 'death'...? I don't know. I thought it was good stuff - how many shows have the opportunity to let a character muse on their mortality in a situation like that? It's something afforded by the relatively unique concept of regeneration and something the show hadn't really done before in that manner, so I appreciated it. The scenes where he's sitting alone with Wilf talking are honestly the best scenes in the episode and among the best in the show, I reckon.
Sorry, wasn't necessarily accusing you of thread derailment, I just know how The End of Time is like a small black hole that has the power to ruin all coherent discussion. But you're right, I think the S7 thread is kinda moot at this point. Roll on the first Capaldi thread!
So the next stuff to look out for... I think it's Children in Need on Friday, 7:30pm, and we'll have the minisode by Saturday 7:30pm. Possibly before, but it's on Red Button loop from then. We don't think Children in Need is a minisode but a clip, right?

It's a really interesting thing to note, really. She does go through some absolutely horrid stuff, though. Martha does as well, but in a different way - the Doctor is awful to her, then her family is tortured and she has to basically witness mass genocide on a massive scale. Side note: the novel that's set during the 'year that never was' when the Master is in control of Earth, following Martha's journey, is absolutely bloody brilliant. Almost redeems the shitty second half of that episode, in fact. But not quite.
Announcers talk over them. "Coming up next is X, with blah blah" etc etc. Thus the length. They wouldn't start talking until a few seconds after the Doctor appears, and then that gives them enough video roll to announce whatever they need to.
The Tennant Christmas Ident is still godlike: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_kXvs0aKSt0 This has the same thing, Tennant going round and cheering repeatedly to make it long enough for the announcer to blab.
On Amy; went from very annoying to one of the best companions. It was "She just tried to snog the Doctor at her own damn wedding" to "Damn I love you." Moffatt get so much stick for female characters, but I feel that, outside of the earlier Doctor sex attempts, she's one of the best written female companions to date, being topped only by maybe Donna. And of course Rory helped matters hugely. The Doctor being an excellent third wheel formed a really special dynamic that I fear might not be replicated for a while.
I actually feel like Moffatt didn't push the unique situation of Amy's character too much, but there are a few moments, (DON'T READ CYCLONE)
i.e. when she flat out murders Kovarian
that I feel like she genuinely changes from a besotted little girl to an optimistic but somewhat hardened woman.
The perfect balance those two characters provided is a large reason why Clara has come off as a hugely flat to me. As I've said though Amy was pretty wonky and dull for me in her first 5 episodes, so I'm hoping she improves. A fresh Doctor will help her differentiate from the Mary Sue angle, I feel.
Doctor Who news had a short piece about the TARDIS appearing on the Graham Norton show so I imagine we'll get more stuff like that over the next few weeks. I guess the whole 'invading TV' thing might actually hold up.
Just to throw this out, but if you haven't read the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary short stories, they're pretty excellent. I really like the concept of the 7th Doctor story, "Ripples," although the writing is a little basic.

"We've had a lot of fun tonight. But while we're having fun here, millions of fans are suffering from Unresolved Plot Syndrome, or UPS. Too many Tardises have exploded without incident, too many metaphors have gone unchallenged. Show your support for the Mash a Moffatt foundation by donating any blunt objects you might have lying around, which we will then use to bludgeon Mr. Moffatt into a stupour."

He's only done two new Who books - the Martha one and an 11/Amy/Rory/Ice Warriors story plus a Torchwood book. He has, however, got a long history with Who audio, from Big Finish during the off-air years through to two audio exclusive Tennant stories (ebooks, not audio dramas) read by Tennant & Tate.

Personally, I expect not to see Capaldi at all. Instead the Christmas special ends with the regeneration effect starting, and continues to the first episode of series 8

They already promised that Capaldi would debut in the Christmas special, and it would make no sense to announce him so early if that wasn't going to be the case. Remember series 8 is a long way off.
I kind of like the idea of 'new doctor gets the Christmas special' happening again, and personally I can't wait to see Capaldi in the role...but I'd be sad if Matt's regeneration episode was an episode he shared the stage with.
