Hence why I'm waiting for an Amazon.co.uk sale before buying =D

Won't have to wait long, it's part of Black Friday tomorrow.

Shit, I hope that is the Blu Ray! I fear it isn't. :(

Got my blu-ray set today. Still not liking the NA cover, but I can deal with it because of the better cover inside it. The gloss (?) is also a nice touch. Got a glossy cover and DW logo on the spine.

Loving how my DW set spines all match. :D

Well, they match except for series 1-4 which are taller boxes due to no Blu Rays. ;)

After watching some of the series 6 blu, I am tempted to go get the blu for 5 as well. We have had the DVD and had no issues, but damn is the blu on 6 good looking.

Well, yeah. Also the specials. But overall, the DVDs match each other, and the blu-rays match each other. I have 1-4 on DVD, the season 4 special, 5 and 6 on blu-ray.

Doctor Who in HD looks amazing. Surprised they didn't make the jump earlier on.

What a cheery video. Like, overloaded with cheeriness.

Rory shafted again. :p

I was going to say the exact same thing. Needs more Darvill up in that clip.

According to Moffat, after this long break we are going to see the longest sustained period of Doctor Who that we've seen since the reboot. Sounds cool to me. A year from now though I better be balls deep into an extended season.

"For full and comprehensive details of the spectacle to come, consult your fondest memories in a couple of years time."

Moffat is nothing if not self assured.

Actually, according to that article he says they're going into production of Doctor Who for the longest sustained period. I took that to mean they're going to be doing a marathon of filming. While I suppose that could lead to more episodes, it doesn't necessarily point to an extended season.

It's going to be *something* to do with the 50th Anniversary, there's murmurings that they want to make that huge.

Anniversary has got to be bang on the money. Still to film there's the 13 episodes for (presumably) Series 7 to air (some) in 2012, then the Christmas special for 2012 and then the 2013 Anniversary stuff. Seeing as since S2 the production has been "Christmas special, then 13 eps for series", to be the longest run it probably means they'll go straight from filming the series/xmas in to the episodes for 2013.

But how it airs, who the fuck knows.

So, I finally watched The Empty Child and The Doctor Dances over the last two nights. Great stuff. I guess The Girl in the Fireplace is next.

Since I'm skipping strait into the middle of the Tennant years, is there anything I should know about the transition between the two Doctors?

Nothing comes to mind.

The Doctor and Rose kissed in the finale of Eccleston's run, but she doesn't remember it.

Captain Jack was killed in the finale, but was brought back to life by Rose on account of the fact she had control of all space and time for a brief moment. This information is important one day.

It took Rose a couple of episodes to realise Tennant's doctor was the same person she knew, despite being outwardly different. Once she realised this their relationship got back to its normal, happy self.

I think that's about it.

How you can skip the excellent parting of the ways and the continuity that comes with it, I don't know.

The 50th Anniversary special will air on the 23 November, 2013. No two ways about it.

It's even a Saturday, by some miracle.

So I finally finished the entirety of the New Who series including the Christmas specials and that weird season where it was just multi-arc episodes between season 3 and 4 I believe and now I am completely prepared for the next Christmas episode and the next season to start. I can now join this thread and not get spoiled.

Started from Christopher Eccleston all the way through David Tennant and into Matt Smith. When I first started and Eccleston was at the end of his run, I didn't want to move on because I really liked him. Then Tennant came and I liked him even more so I took a break before moving onto Smith because I was afraid I'd like him more and would suddenly think Tennant was meh. Because I really do love Smith as the Doctor. It's weird. Each one had their own character. I guess it's strange for me to watch a show where every few years the main character actor changes and it's part of the story. (As opposed to the original actor not being able to stay so they swap them and hope no one really notices. *cough Roseanne *cough*) It's going to be really weird when Smith inevitably leaves and exciting because I'll be able to join in on the "Who's going to be the next Who?" discussion for once.

Can't wait!

Really, Really want a multi doctor special.

Bring the master back next season with a new actor.

Some more time lord stuff, not with them being all evil maybe 1 more timelord is alive (not the rani) and has been traveling another universe with a companion or something.

More stuff above the silence is a must.

And the daleks are due for an episode aswell as some info on the new "race"

Bill bailey in the xmas ep is great i had no idea before the trailer.

how could they possibly bring back the master after the end of time?

No one dies forever in sci fi.

Moffat is crazy im sure he would find away. From the top of my head how about some god like being forces him back into existence, the time lords come back and manage to do it for some reason. Really the master is never going to die for good. Its just a way to get rid of a character for a while to focus on others, Id like each Doctor to have their master though the interaction between characters is nice.

Not necessarily next season, but Susan. The first companion, the only known family the Doctor has, would be perfect for the 50th anniversary.

He's survived worse.

Urgh. LOTS of Doctor Who is expiring from Netflix in three days. Lots of the classic ones as well as Series 1-3 and the specials. I did not see series 4 and 5 on the list, but that doesnt mean they wont disappear as well. Torchwood will expire too.
