Moffat won a BAFTA for that episode and it was probably the reason why he became lead writer.
Carey Mulligan was the girl in it, before she was famous.

A few roles many people did not know. Her breakout role was in "An Education," which did not come out until almost 2 years after Blink.

Looks like she had had a minor role in Pride and Prejudice followed by a several BBC series. I'm American so I don't know how popular these series were, but I don't think they were internationally popular. An Education was popular in most major film markets, including both the US and the UK. It was definitely her international breakthrough.
And to preempt the "americans only think what they watch is popular" argument: if an actor had only been popular on an american TV show with little international penetration, I would not consider them famous worldwide.
Yeah, that's why I asked where PhoncipleBone is from. She was stellar in The Amazing Mrs Pritchard, which was an amazing series in its own right. That was the title that made me aware of her ability. I then went back and found Pride and Prejudice again, but she wasn't a standout there.
Exactly, so it sounds like she was a UK star before An Education (which I honestly never knew, interesting) but An Education still counts as her breakthrough, I think, because of the international exposure.
To get an opinion from someone else from the UK, no one I knew nor myself had any idea who she was before she was on Doctor Who, lol.

I'm not from the UK. I'm from New Zealand. Many countries get UK series that don't go to the US. By international I think you mean North American

Blink is my go-to episode for getting people to take Dr. Who seriously. I've sadly found that many Americans think it's silly. Then I show them Blink. Then they shut up...

Nah, see, like I said that defense isn't valid here. An Education was her breakthrough here and in a lot of other countries. It was her most visible work to date. Someone from the UK in this thread even said they'd never seen her until Who. She was not famous until An Education.

Odds are younger people didn't know about her until later on, but a huge number of people internationally did, because she was incredible in a TV show certain markets embraced.

You guys are just arguing past each other about different ideas of 'famous'. FWIW I don't think she's famous even now. An Education didn't exactly have a broad audience. More people, by a lot, have seen clips of it at the Oscars than have actually seen the movie.

Okay guys, I need help.
I am a Primary School teacher. In September I'm working in Year 2 (6-7 year olds) and the first two weeks of term I get to choose a topic for us to study. I've decided on Sci-fi (to help with the creative, descriptive writing aspect) and I'm going to base it around Doctor Who and us travelling in the TARDIS to different planets and times.
I really, really, really, need a custom version of the Series 6 Doctor Who opening title sequence with my name and my teaching assistants name in place of Matt and Karen/Arthur's names. I'm going all out with this, sonic screwdriver, costume, fez the lot.
Anyone who could do this or point me in the direction of someone who can do it, please help. I'm willing to pay a bit of money just for a bit of video editing.

This is going to be kind of hard to do unless you are okay with splicing the sections without the names out of the intro. Its almost always going to be janky unless someones does the whole time tunnel from scratch.

This was put out when they were still filming so its not got all the content (the mountain stuff was the only stuff they had for episode 1 for example)

Yep, and the Western ep was done in Spain so its not 100% financial.
Fact is they don't want all UK eps, most of the space stuff will be UK actors/accents just well...because they need to film it in Cardiff studios!
This allows them to go more abroad with historicals especially. We've only had one Moffat-era story set in the US though - so its not exactly a 'hard on' over it, meanwhile were getting 2 for series 7. One is a Western; they wanted a western episode, thats the only thinking there. And the finale is in the US just because I guess.
Calling it a hard on is a major over reaction.
Meanwhile the other episodes of 7A are set in China (episode 1 supposedly) and I think 2/4 are set in modern day UK? 4 certainly is whilst 2 could be a mixture.
Beats having stories in rock quarries or modern day London.

If not, there seem to be a lot of "doctor who time vortex" clips available without any text on them. Some are more janky than others, but you might be able to find something you can use.

Yeah. I just need it to look passable really. Anyone here reckon they could give it a go? I'm only midly good with video editing.
I've already made a custom 'Dalek Invasion Speech to Year 2' video on my own by bodging together bits and bobs of videos and using a Dalek voice changer. This will occur after the intro and the first main activity.
The headteacher will come in and say 'Doctor, this arrived for you just now. It is of the utmost importance'. I'll put the USB in the computer and the video will effectively be a warning to the Doctor that the Daleks are going to destroy every planet they come across unless he gives up the TARDIS.
The Doctor (myself) will then urge Year 2 to research these other planets to find ways of stopping the Daleks from destroying it. Etc Etc
