This is the image I was earlier referring to :

Although I do wonder if the background in the first is photoshopped from the second.

Do not know how to react to this...

yar tis shopped. some one on reddit posted a break down of the source images used :( sorry

It's pretty obvious, considering that the gaps in the leaves letting light through the trees are precisely identical. It's possible that the rest of the structure could have withstood a few decades without changine, but the tree would look different after a fraction of a second. Or maybe a couple minutes if there's no wind in the UK at all.

Oh, right, now it is on.

THE BIG TOP 10 MURRAY GOLD INSTRUMENTAL TRACKS
1. The Life and Death of Amy Pond
2. This is Gallifrey: Our Childhood, Our Home
3. Four Knocks
4. Help Is On It's Way
5. Doomsday
6. Never Too Old to Shoot and Fly
7. I Am The Doctor
8. Come Along Pond
9. The Dark and Endless Dalek Night
10. The Vampires of Venice

Too many omissions. :(

It's a very hard ranking to put together - and I'm hindered by not having any of the Smith-era albums yet (need to rectify that!)

Some of my favourites, in no particular order:

Doomsday - Captures the tone and feel of the first two seasons of the show. Amazing track.
This is Gallifrey: Our Childhood, Our Home - Partnered with the Doctor describing Gallifrey, it's perfect.
Life Among The Distant Stars - It's like a "Part 2" of Rose's Theme playing at the end of Doomsday. Worked out just fine with the Doctor and DoctorDonna and Rose's final goodbye at Bad Wolf Bay.
Song of Freedom - Greatly used in Journey's End when they were all bringing Earth back.
Rose's Theme - Not the best, but like Doomsday, I think it also captures the essence of the first two seasons.
Westminster Bridge - And another track that captures the essence of the first two seasons. Pretty much a staple of the first 3 seasons.
Madame De Pompadour - A melancholy track that matches the episode just perfectly. Feels sad man.
Vale Decem - I'll be the first to admit that it's perhaps over dramatic, but it's absolutely an epic track.
I Am The Doctor - Great introduction to 11. Much like Doomsday, it captures the tone and feel of series 5 and 6.
The Mad Man With A Box - Great re-introduction to the TARDIS.
With Love, Vincent - Another melancholy track. I liked the way they portrayed Vincent and this track is just sad as hell, knowing the inevitable.
Adrift In The TARDIS - I like how the temp changes from upbeat to slow.
Amy's Theme - I think, much like I Am The Doctor, this captures the essence of series 5 and 6. And I think the tone fits with the character of Amy.
Amy and Rory - Same thing as Amy's Theme, but sadder.
The Life and Death of Amy Pond - EPIC TRACK. Worked perfectly with The God Complex and that scene with the Doctor and Amy in her "room".
Amy's Starless Life - Subtle track, but I like it a lot.
36 Years - Short track, melancholy version of Amy's Theme. Pretty depressing seeing Old Amy with this track playing.

Special mention to Song for Ten by Neil Hannon. Incredibly jolly, I listen to this at least once or twice during the holidays.

Pardon my repetitiveness, especially with the word "melancholy". lol

Best Murray Gold piece ever: Melody Pond.

SHIT. Knew I forgot one.

Also, The Impossible Astronaut, The Majestic Tale of the Madman in a Box, The Rueful Fate of Donna Noble...

My major, major omission, that I only remembered this morning, is A Dazzling End. That needs to go somewhere near the top.

Westminster Bridge - And another track that captures the essence of the first two seasons. Pretty much a staple of the first 3 seasons.

I love Moffat's series deeply, but I can't help but wish we'd occasionally get a bit more of the feelings this track brings about from them.

Love that track - wouldn't be surprised if we see more with JLC e.g.
Clara
as it seems were getting another 'relaunch' with the new companion.

But that is just a 'possibly' in the end Moff has much more going on in episodes whether its jokes/plots/shenanigans - not as many 'running shots' at all actually.

One score I think thats overlooked cause its not the main action is The Dream it really sells the feeling of that episode.

Kiss the Girl is probably Murrays best outside the head writer episodes imo. This is partly down to the writing being brilliant in The Lodger and everything about that scene just working great.

it was my daughter's birthday today. Amongst other things, we got her an 11th Doctor's Sonic Screwdriver. It is awesome. Extends with a press of a button, lights up and makes the sonic screwdriver noise. She's already locked all the doors in the house so nobody can get out.

Careful, she's clearly setting up a base under siege story with her as the antagonist.

Not going to lie, I point my Sonic Screwdriver at my door at random occasions, press the button to light up and make the sound, then open my door as if I had just unlocked it.

Some of you guys probably do the same, too. :p

Be honest, it's as much for you as it is for her

During finals I kept taking mine out pointing it at random connection slots on my computer and pushing the button to try and get it to write my papers....

Sometimes during finals month I get a little delusional alright!

The question is, did it fail because your computer was made of wood or because it was double-deadlocked?

I have mine on my desk at work and will randomly sonic things on my desk when I get bored, I also have a John Pertwee era one on my desk which gets a similar treatment.

Bane? Get them on board, I'll call it in.
Caroline John, the actress that played Liz Shaw in the first four Third Doctor serials has passed away. RIP.
Heh, I just noticed that the protagonist of Prometheus shares the same name.

for once, no. Her birthday party was Dr Who themed, she's nuts for it (only 8). We did series 1-6 on a combo of netflix and BBC3 repeats over the space of a few months

I'm hoping she was less bothered by the Weeping Angels than my wife, lol.
Wife is easily scared.

Very sad news. She was only in the show for a short amount of time, but she left a huge impact. She will be missed, and my thoughts are with her family.

These last couple of years have been really brutal for 3rd Doctor era deaths. Barry, Nick, Lis and now Caroline.

She was in one of the few early Doctor Who serials I've been able to watch. Sad new indeed. :(

So, the Series 7 premiere title was announced earlier today: "Asylum of the Daleks".

We confirmed back in March that the Daleks would be returning to menace the universe and even posted a few sneaky photos smuggled from set! Since then, Steven Moffat (Doctor Who’s lead writer and Executive Producer) has confirmed that the adventure will feature every kind of Dalek ever faced by the Time Lord – including the legendary Special Weapons Dalek!

The title of the new story has already increased the excitement building around it. Could the ‘asylum’ be a place or is it some sort of protection? Or does the word take on a new and sinister meaning in this adventure? It’s too early to say but we’re having fun speculating! In the meantime, we’ll have to wait a little longer to find out the answer to the crucial question: What is the Asylum of the Daleks?

Executive Producer Caro Skinner wasn’t giving much away but she did tell us, ‘This is an epic Dalek adventure that kicks off the new series in explosive style! If you think you know all there is to know about the Daleks, think again…’

Also, there's a rumor going around that (because of a screening) the premiere could air around the end of August.

Sort of matches the title card now, except the DW logo being on the side. I wonder if they'll change the title card logo, as well.

(top, 2011 TC, bottom 2010 TC).

I prefer having the DW logo between the two words, since it evens it out more. Looks odd on the side.

David Warner (The Omen, Time Bandits, Tron, The Lost World, Titanic, Start Trek, Planet of the Apes) and Liam Cunningham (Clash of the Titans, Game of Thrones) will guest star in the 2013 part of next series.

I distinctly remember David Warner playing an old man in every movie I've seen him in since I was a wee one, including Tron. The mindblowing thing I learned today is that he's younger than my uncle, whom I've never seen as particularly old.

edit: Oh, math… he's a little older than my uncle, but it's by less than a year

David Warner is a true icon and will be fantastic.

Jealous of the Glory that is Johnny Depp
wow the blink episode was AMAZING, I thought it was another filler episode before the season finale but oh man so wrong. one of the best of this modern doctor who so far.

David Warner is a phenomenal actor! Cannot wait, hnnnnnnnnnnnnng.

Oh, and I semi-regularly use my 10th-version sonic screwdriver at work, no lie.

I watched the Night and the Doctor specials, interesting little shorts.

I imagine that last date is where River got the screwdriver that "saved" her in Forest of the Dead. Especially since it was their final one.
