Biggest CCU for RPG

1. Cyberpunk 2077 - 1.1m
2. Elden Ring - 954k
3. Hogwarts Legacy - 879k
4. Baldur's Gate 3 - 875k
5. Fallout 4 - 472k
6. Monster Hunter World - 334k
7. Starfield - 330k
8. Skyrim - 287k
9. Monster Hunter Rise - 231k
10. Dragon's Dogma 2 - 228k

If this game was what it should have been, given the strength of the IP, it should have been up there in the mid portion of that list.

But alas...

Ill still give Skyrim major props since the population was way smaller during 2011 and it gain many times the fans over the years due to all the mods as it's the game with the largest amount of mods in history. I think Elder Scrolls VI could easily get 1 million peak at least.

Several hundred thousand concurrent players aka 400k at least by tomorrow according to this person. Looks like everyone really is out for Halloween with the ever growing rate of the CCP and it's going to start increasing in count massively later on.

I agree, but I'd say its a mixture of both, its based on something within the game, but also based on ideas outside of the game people feel are influencing the title unjustly.

So I feel that generally what is driving a lot of this, I agree that is why one might feel that way, I don't know if I agree that the ideas themselves are out of place with this IP. This IP has had this type of sexual type thing within it, this isn't really that new and I'd expect this sorta of thing in a Dragon Age thing, you know......after the whole gay bull sex stuff lol I still don't get how folks didn't see any of that yet are shocked at this, those that really liked the IP, I can see why they bought this game, to them, its not really some brand new change, its what they are already used too aka round 2 bull sex lol

I'll just speak for myself here. I was hoping this game was going to be great and I was willing to overlook quite a bit as far as "woke" politics and whatnot. I explicitly said as much in recent posts. But I just draw the line at a game that gets on the soapbox and preaches to me about modern day trans issues like Veilguard does. I think others feel the same way. So for me this is entirely about what is in the game. Nothing more.

That's fine. You're old so it's understandable

Don't think this launched with any DRM if I'm not mistaken?
That's exactly what I'm saying.

Denuvo should be going to companies and highlighting this instead of trying to get consumers to like them for doing a necessary, but also objectively unlikeable job.

"this is going to review terribly" (gets excellent reviews)
Oh yes, let's play this game with the receipts.

Let's see... From the review prediction thread few days ago.: https://www.neogaf.com/threads/dragon-age-the-veilguard-review-thread.1676719/post-269733866
My current estimation is that it will rate in the lower 80s for the press, but it will be at least 20 points lower for the user base.

"the graphics suck" (is one of the best looking games of the year)
I absolutely hate how it looks, though?

"no one is going to play this" (has the best launch of any single player EA game of all-time on PC)
Straight from the sales prediction thread: https://www.neogaf.com/threads/how-...ll-equate-to-a-success.1676851/post-269748560

If it goes above 100k concurrent players it will already be far more than I’m expecting.

Which doesn’t sound that bad in isolation, until you realize what numbers BG3 did and what type of pull the Dragon Age franchise used to have.
Incidentally we are not there yet, so far it's below my expectations.

"these numbers are not great when compared to the best selling Steam titles of all time" <- YOU ARE HERE
Yes, exactly where I should be, since I like consistence and I'm not a rabid shill.

Good job, you predicted decently well. I (obviously) wasn't talking directly to you though.

Actually scratch that I would now qualify this as a bit of a disappointment

Well then you misunderstood my original post if the words you said weren't what you meant 🤷‍♂️

A game selling well that isn't good is a bit sad. I've already justified the stance in this thread but you came in all hot and nutter butters that I bet you didn't even see it.

The fact is a bad game selling well sends a message to the men in suits that it's what gamers want. When really it's just selling well because it's a well known IP. I don't want gaming to turn into Disney and marvel.

Maybe you do and that's fine, but saying that I find it sad that it's selling well is not some radical right wing insane conspiracy theory.

I feel the same sadness when apple releases a slightly better product year on year for 20x times the price and people just consume and slurp it all up without even thinking.
Is it sad that a game that, in your opinion, is not good is selling well? So every game out there must be for your personal taste?

It's your opinion that it's not a good game. Lots of people obviously think it's a amazing game.
I have not played it btw, but will probably check it out at some point. And yeah, I really enjoyed earlier games in the series. They changed it a bit for this one. That's not a problem, that's just how things work sometimes.
Other times people complain a lot when a game series does not change. This time the art is a bit goofy and they have some purple trans stuff in there (from what i've read). Couldn't really care less about that last bit, but would love to see the game more gritty and dark.

But by your logic every game YOU don't like is bad, and should not sell well. That's a bit silly.
Is it bad for you because it's different from earlier games in series? Is it because it's "woke"?

You seem s bit paranoid that if it's "bad" and sells, then everyone will make games like that and it's all doom and gloom.
Well, that's just not gonna happen.
The gaming industry is full of ALL kinds of different games in various styles, and judt because a "purple woke game" is getting good reviews and (maybe) selling quite well, doesn't mean every game from here on will be like this one game.

I think you worry too much if you actually believe this game should flop just because it's not for you.
I'm sure you'll have lots of other great games to choose from, both now and for many, many years to come!

Same here, I even replayed Inquisition earlier this year to get ready for it.

But after seeing that horrendous reveal trailer, all the overt moralizing and lecturing in the videos, + just the awful dialog that sounds like it belongs in Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood, that was just too much for me.

70k, 76% percent reviews, gaf truly is made out of old farts who love nothing but to hate and platform war. Sometimes its best to block all social media and just enjoy things instead of watching twitter retards like grumz. Sometimes games are bad, but have some fucking faith once in a while. Origins had some absolute garbage dialogue as well, like Zevran who was extremely LGBT and no one gave a shit. Ignore the stuff that triggers you, skip the dialogue and enjoy the rest of a decent game(so far). Imma start blocking all these desperate hate threads.

Why would I invest any money in that woke crap?

The DA franchise died after DA:O, a fantastic game and one of my top 5 games ever, everything afterwards was thrash including DAV.
If you have been let down 3 Times now, you should know better by now. Why even bother

Its more than wokeish stuff.

What about the Fortnite vibe, super colourful bright colours, and you cant control NPCs anymore? All which are very different than past DA games.

Fair enough I personally think 200k by weekend is a reasonable threshold for success or not?
i was thinking 300K
then there is the NPDs which should chart on the number 1 spot.
subsequent news/insights from sales analysts would give a more realistic view of its commercial performance.
finally, any comment from EA to their investors.

I think the consumer reception is going to be mixed at best and the game is going to "underperform". And there is a very high probability that the quality of the game itself and the consumer perception of the studio will end up killing Bioware for good.

Steam forums are getting crazier and crazier; it's actually entertaining to go there when a game release.

Exposing the sinister cartel of retailers who allow companies to pay for advertising space.
I had no idea DA:I was that successful.

DA:TV has no chance in hell to sell that many copies. It looks like The Veilguard game is going to hit at most 100K concurrent Steam users this weekend, that's less than half of what Dragon's Dogma 2 was doing. DD2 sold 3 million copies withing the first couple of months and will likely have sold 4 million copies on all platforms by now. So that could indicate DA:TV is going to sell around 2 million copies, perhaps 3 million copies since Xmas is coming up soon. That's probably not enough to break even on a game that's been 9 years (!) in development.

No way it’s going that high. I’m guessing 100K max CCU on Sunday. Definitely less than 200K.

Absolute chaos.

The thread about steam deleting/censoring reviews seems to be gaining a lot of traction.

If they are indeed deleting negative reviews then it's not going to go down too well.

We were sold a lie with Inquisition, GOTY, 9/10, I reordered it. It was total shit.
That game is when I stopped trusting gsming media, I couldn't believe what I was playing vs what they were saying.

DA:I was successful because of lies by the media and DAV seems to be following the same path.

“In this game, it seems you can only create a trans woman, not a woman. There's no option to design a feminine-looking woman, and even with the chest slider at maximum, breasts remain non-existent. Meanwhile, you can adjust the bulge to be larger than the chest size on female characters.”

LOL

Shinobi is still shilling for EA after all these years, goddamn.

I remember when he was hyping up ME Andromeda on GAF but then ran away when people started to get their hands on the game and were like WTF is this shit :messenger_grinning_smiling:

i was thinking 300K to be considered a success, if we go with the narrative of being a masterpice and the best bioware game to date. (realistically speaking)

if its around 200K, people will argue

around 100k it will be dissapoinment for sure.
