Dragon Age: Veilguard releases with over 70k concurrent players on Steam and 'Mixed Reviews'

When China wakes up, they are going to pump those CCU numbers. Just watch.

Don't at me haters.

Haven't you seen the fucking hair in this game? It's a light and breezey plot that makes you think Josh Whedon is personally telling you this story. But the hair... the hair sells this.

Game of the Year.

If EA didn't close Bioware after Anthem, they literally never will
They will have to at some point. Games cost too much to make these days. Publishers are way less likely to tolerate poor sales than they were in the past. They may not close them down completely but move them to Battlefield mines, but either way if this underperforms like it's booking to do, I think ME is their last chance. It's over. Bioware is dead, all their leading talent has left long time ago.

Remember guys, last entry on this franchise was game of the year of 2014. So there was some kind of expectation on this one probably.

Damn this got me

i was thinking 300K to be considered a success, if we go with the narrative of being a masterpice and the best bioware game to date. (realistically speaking)

if its around 200K, people will argue

around 100k it will be dissapoinment for sure.
Yeah needs 300k at least on Steam CCP to be a success which they should be able to reach by tomorrow.

Did the trick-or-treaters come home yet?
A bit early now since it's only 9 here. I'll say at 11 is when the folks starts hitting up the game. Might have to wait till 12 even cause some haven't installed it yet. Should take a hour to install such a huge game. So give it 2 to 3 hours from now and we should see 150k with 300k or more tomorrow.

Anthem sold more than 4 millons
Against a budget which some estimated as above $100 million plus marketing costs, it underperformed what EA said was needed to break even (6 million) and was eventually completely shut down which ended all possibility of continuing revenue for a game planned to be EA's Destiny

And then there are the retards who disregard CCU as a beneficial metric.
Again I'm not defending it (I'd rather see this crash and burn) but I see this all the time where people think CCU is 1:1 units sold. Especially for a singleplayer game a CCU isn't nearly as important.

Wonder if monster hunter wilds open beta will beat Dragon Age this weekend 🤔
Not sure how high those typically go.

Yeah I don't think this game is breaking even...

We'll never know.

It will do just about well enough for EA and the defenders of the game to declare it a success, without having to get into any hard numbers whatsoever. This will also mean all the hardcore detractors can convince themselves it was really a flop, because EA haven't released hard numbers.

Nobody will be happy.

Why wouldn't people just use Electronic Arts obligatory financial reports.

Why was M ManaByte banned? Never saw him disrespect anyone?
Reason:
Spreading lies about someone to harm their reputation is unacceptable behavior, even if you don't like them. Reconsider your approach to GAF or you're not going to last.
You can see Bans at the bottom of the page.

Seems fine so far, combat is much more intensive.

the writing is painful, actually painful.
I love some of the steam reviews... like this is a positive one. like is writing not the most important in an RPG?

Oh yeah I think I just saw some walking home from a Halloween party and I could've sworn they were all talking about what class and gender identity their Rook would be. They're probably downloading it now.

This is just Spider-man on pc just as a comparison over it's lifetime.

I'd say it's fairly certain that DA:V is a success, unless there's a shit ton of EA play members on steam, i don't know those numbers or if they even do the Premium game catalog thing anymore.

GAF desperately wants this game to be a flop.

It's a little sad tbh.

I keep hearing this lately, and I couldn't disagree more. It was utter dog shit back then and it's still utterly dog shit now

I don't know if it's the goldfish effect or people who are saying this are young and can't remember but a fair few gamers back then didn't agree it should have got game of the year

It's not even that good of an RPG.

I tried following their convo but ended up at Blizzard breast milk theft so I'm calling it a day.

Stay safe out there, Mana.
Yep, that was it. DATV is the gift that keeps on giving.

We've had it all, brothers.

Slap fighting.
Taylor Swift ass pics
A meme thr-ohgodihateeveryone
Asmonbanned
Heated gender ideology debates
Manabyte getting banned over breast milk.
A Barve, and how to pull one.
Review controversies.
Tyrannical Reddit mods
Seinfeld dinner with the NB scene.

Truly, my cup runneth over.

It's sarcasm. :messenger_winking:

This is a story people are heavily invested in and have been waiting along time to get.

Im playing it no matter but going to wait awhile.

Again, anyone who expected Concord level performance was kidding themselves. The game's going to do fine out of the gate. Long term performance is a bigger question once early impressions are out in the open, but the debut isn't particularly surprising.
Dragon Age Inquisition comes to mind. That game scored similarly and its reputation soured over time. Especially when a game scores in the lower mid 80's how the game is ultimately received can go either way.

From the steam reviews:
- negative reviews are mostly about performance (which is odd considering reviewers said it ran like a dream) and gender politics
- positive reviews are mostly about negating the gender politics reviews (lol!) but otherwise saying that's a very competent ARPG

Overall I would say it *seems* like this game is pretty decent and the low 80-85 is probably well deserved. It does seem it's not a Dragon Age game made for the fans but more so for a new generation of players.
This reminds me of when people wanted to cancel Hogwarts and it probably ended up doing better because of the extra free marketing it got lol.
It seems regardless of whether your game has some politics that trigger some basement dwellers, if it's a good game people will play and enjoy it.

Yeah that really puts the magnitude of Concord's failure into perspective.

This game will max out at over 100 Concords but that still seems like a dud IMO
This. Concord was more of a flop of all time.
Concord was a once in a generation flop

But this game will come down to how much it actually cost to make. If it cost $200 million to make, selling 3-4 million copies is a failure for it and Dragon Age will die as a franchise. If it cost $60 million to make, selling 3-4 million copies is a successful run and the franchise will continue and we'll all become trans and the human species will no longer reproduce and become extinct
Yup.

Plenty of copium over on ResetEra.

Apparently 70k CCU's means BioWare is back. Not sure I'd agree with that given the budget, size, scope and reputation the series has.

I imagine it'll go well over 100k at the weekend, but it's not great right now, and it's just got immediately blown out by around 360k by MW Wilds.

I mean. this kind of game is not my jam but the fact they tried to push lgtp shit into it. i won't buy it for 1$.
Then none of Bioware's stuff is your Jam…they introduced the first LGBT character in the entire Star Wars universe in the original KoToR with Juhani…Dragon Age Inquistion was stuffed with it: Dorian and Iron Bull being an item, Sera, Celene, Brialla…Kreme with the non-binary. This is the equivalent of figuring out Rage Against the Machine is a band that talks about politics….
