So how do monster classes work, I think they use those hearts and I have a healslime heart but how do I use it? Do I use it at alltrades abbey or somewhere else?

Yeah, it's Alltrades. Just have the monster heart in that character's inventory and it'll allow the option to change to that monster class. It will show the character as their default costume for dungeons and towns but use a monster 3D model for world map and battles.
Yup, so much more satisfying then watching a Tv show or anime before bed.

Haha I was actually going to watch a few episode of the new luke cage show and....instead i find myself playing a few islands of DQ haha
I had massive burnout with this game after 30 hours, but now I feel like diving back in.
I wish I could pace myself better, since I really think DQ works best as a "short bursts each day" kinda game.
I think a lot of the design decisions are amplified if I rush through these games, but when I play them at a more relaxed pace, I can more easily enjoy the many great elements they have.
Especially since the posters above me already pointed out how well the episodic nature of the game lends itself for shorter but frequent play sessions.
In a weird way, it reminds me quite a lot of Animal Crossing - charming games with often slow paced mechanics. The guy in the shop in AC greeting you and saying goodbye every single time you enter and leave is not a problem at all if you play it only once in a while, but if you're trying to steamroll your way through the game you're going to get frustrated by it very soon.

Great comparison. 100% Agree. In AC that stuff is charming, assuming you aren't trying to grind out a 3-5 hour session, in that case it can be VERY annoying. Haha
I agree with that too. If you're playing a marathon session then a short conversation every time you save is annoying, but if you're only playing for an hour or so, it's not so bad. I generally only save when I'm ending the session as the penalty for death is so light.
Chugging along... probably 40 hours in at this point. Just got
and the end of the story seems to be looming closer than I thought. It used to feel like there were so many islands left to explore, this game will last forever! Now there are only a few places left to see. :'(
Also, I hit the cap in a few tier 2 jobs and had to demote those characters back to tier 1s so they can get new tier 2 jobs later. Now I'm rolling with 3 tier 1 guys and a paladin. Suddenly the game feels a lot harder again.

If it makes you feel better, I did the same thing. Only used one item though (a leaf). Still annoyed me.

Ok, i think i'm stuck.
I've done everything available to me at this point (most recent island was
) and i have used every fragment I have and when I use Check Next Fragment it just talks about King Maximo/Mini Medal stuff.
The Imp in the Shrine talks about a new island north of the desert town (is this not the one I previously mentioned?) but I have been there and can't find any fragments, nor do any show up on the radar.

Ok, this is weird. Went back home and they said my Dad had just left to go out to sea.
So I went back to the Shrine of Mysteries.
In the Yellow Pillars I have all but the top right map filled in. Top right map is missing two shards.
In the Red Pillars, I have everything.
In the Blue Pillars I'm missing one or two fragments in the Bottom Right.
In the Green Pillars I'm missing three fragments in the Bottom Right.
This is so annoying
Edit: Just realised the top right of the Green Pillars had no locations listed so i may have put the fragments in but never visited. God damnit

Right I'm guessing you still have a location to do. Before hubble I did providence and Nottagen, have you visited those?
Edit: haha just saw your update. Well sorry for the slight preview into the future there haha! I thought I was safe since you'd applied all the fragments

I love how the game (about 60-70% of the world map explored so far)

I envy the people who have enough free time to have beaten this game already. Also envy people with enough strength in their hands to hold a 3DS in their hands for that long without them cramping up. The 3DS has been murder on my hands when playing for long periods straight.

Got the download bar up for Haven at about 12:45 eastern time but looks like I missed the promo downloads I figured the cutoff would be 12:00 pst.

You must clear Nottagen and hand over Monster Enclosure Plans to the NPC that will then appear in Monster Meadows. You must wait until the Monster Enclosures are built to visit your Monster Pals. Once Nottagen appears in the Present you may create a team to fish up a custom Travelers Tablet without waiting for an Enclosure to be built.
Monsters in this game do not join your party in a traditional sense. Your party members can change into Monsters via the Monster Hearts instead, however very few Monsters drop Hearts.

Well I did the Providence stuff and went back to the Present. Dad is still out at sea, no fragments available so...-shrug- maybe i'm going to have to go back into the past of each area and see if the radar pops. So annoying

Damn, i'm stumped ha. If you've completed Hubble, Nottagen & Providence, there should be a scene that moves the story on. I'm not even sure shard gathering in the present woulds affect that, since it activates as soon as you return to the present, there must be something left incomplete from those three in the past.
I think this is the issue, I believe thats a no.
There is some repeat stuff
between the past and present of nottagen where you have to go back and forth

Yeah, it's possible you just did one event in Nottagen and then ignored the rest but the game blatantly tells you to go back and finish it so that doesn't seem very likely.

Yeah, party is still full.
I've popped back to Nottagen's Past and nothing left for me to do there so just going to zoom to them in the present, chat to people and see if there's anything I've missed.

okay so in the story so far, for hubble
the last chaper is "a reckless king repents"
"a great debt of gratitude in the past, then "at long last" in the present
"providence regained"
Also, for hubble
present, it's "sh shall be best friends"
involving the mayor's descendents now looknig after the church, and a wooden statue

IIRC the event automatically happened for me the moment I left Hubble and came back to the present so theoretically I don't even think present events should matter since it triggered before I even had the chance to visit present Hubble.

I think that's why my hubble present chapter is a few down form the end of that scenario ha. Just trying to make sure he has all those resolution points in the chapter list, was the best way i could think to find out what the problem is without any actual spoilers

You just click it, and if there's a fragment out there that's available at the moment, it'll give you a hint as to where it is
