Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen PC |OT| Wolves hunt in 4K

I don't understand why the character doesn't start with a dodge or block ability (I'm playing as a Strider). Really crappy design choice.

Want a block? Start as a Fighter.
Want a dodge? Get experience as a Strider.
Want both? Play as an Assassin.

You are a fisherman/woman who only sets out for adventure because a wyrm stole your heart.

After doing the Arousing Suspicion quest:

Haha, oh boy. Good bye hero playthrough =P
I'm gonna assume you reloded a save

What would be a decent enb/reshade/sweetfx without too much performance cost?

SLI isn't working still, right? With only one 580 working, I can't play with the big fancies enbs.

You can use my custom wickfut-made preset. It only adds AO, AA, as eliminate vignette. Almost no performance loss.

I'll make you a quick setting with only AA + AO used. Don't use the broken .dll. It messes around with certain shadows.

Hard mode is not recommended for a first playthrough, right?

I wouldn't (and didn't). You get one shot by trash early in the game (which some find fun, that's OK) and later you have much more experience and gold than you would in normal to the point where you've overtaken the difficulty curve. All that's left is increased stamina costs.

just killed the
griphon
, how far from the end am I? considering im doing all the sidequests possible (err not counting boardstuff, those are done as I play I guess)

also I assume that when you finish the game it drops you back in so you can do the dark arisen content?

From the false end? Not far.
(Credits rolling isn't really the end of the game)
From the real end? Far.

The main quest is like 2 hours long, an hour with a good port crystal setup, and like 20 minutes if you have stocked wakestones/liquid vim/quest items.
So killing a griffin* doesn't really mean anything unless you are going all out on everything, then you are at least 30 hours away from the end still.

this is my first time playing the game and you are talking like its my 5th with talks of good port crystal setups and whatnot. sounds like speed run talk.

What deband is better : Gosato, ENB or Reshade ?

ENB should technically be the best, since it is actually rendering the colors at a higher bit level, then dithering them down. All the other Debands are taking the existing colors and use an algorithm to blend them better.

If in practice ENB debanding still has some banding issues, you could even potentially layer Reshade Deband on top of the ENB one.

HUDless screenshot should work out of the box with gedosato, no? No dice for me :(

Doesn't work in dungeons or prologue currently. It works throughout the overworld and towns tho.

I meant stuff like Reynard the merchant being clobbered by a bunch of goblins. It might also be something as simple as having a mob too close to your party in some kind of active state. Bottom line is, night time is no different from day time where saving is concerned. The trigger for not being able to save is something else.

If they haven't tweaked the Drake somehow, it should never actually flee the whole scene like Griffons do. It only returns to the default spawning position and starts to roam around there again. Depending on how the fight has gone, it may move quite a bit due to this, but should still be available. It shouldn't even heal when resetting unless enough time passes (you go to sleep or something.)

I mean, I don't have perfect vision and am obviously liable to overlook things, but I scanned the entirety of Devilfire Grove and didn't find it. Its health bar disappeared too and after ~10 minutes of just wandering about I gave up.

^

waited for 4/5 minutes, then the quest "ambush" failed

Holy crap. Pawn finally got hired by someone and I got 30k RCs. And here I was crawling through Bitterblack trying to scrape together 5200 at a time to identify some weapons.

I progressed a little further and got absolutely wrecked by a
Beholder
. Guessing that's the first 'boss'. Anyways, everything it was doing was one shotting me and I barely managed to dent it. Guess I'll return when I'm not level 40.

It probably doesn't help you now, but if you've gotten to Gran Soren, there's a 2nd quest board in the basement of the pawn guild that has a bunch of Easter egg hunt quests. The first 5 of those quests are pretty easy to get to (6 seems to need a double-jump or magician levitate) and give quite a bit of RC. I think I was at 10k+ after the first 5 of those quests.

What skills do people use on Assassin? I can't decide between all these awesome dagger skills.

I've been using Hundred Kisses/Advanced Trigger/Shearing Wind and it's pretty fun zapping around knocking things into the air and climbing on bosses and stabbing them with Hundred Kisses.

do vocation ranks go up from xp alone? can you change to the one you want to rank up before handing in a big story quest for example, for the xp boost?

If it's the Griffin quest I'm thinking of, you're a bit less than halfway through.

Game keeps going for a while longer with some twists and turns, keep at it! :D

What does reset do for you? I read the description and I didn't see the immediate use. Sounded like a combo canceling ability?

It cancels anything and everything, even being hit animations. I think only grapples can't be reset.

Whose pawn is named Mila and have them constantly go after items instead of helping me in battle :(

Mila is from a bowl of kimchi, I used her when she was still a mage, and yes she had the acquisitor inclination.

Took Lilith, Kayla, Iris and Melisandre for a spin. They should have more white hairs now.

In fact, I think I actually blew up a giant poison undead with an exploding rivet and it sent Kayla over a bridge in the explosion.

Did she die? killing pawns has an adverse effect on their ratings.

I find them all fun on Assassin... it's such a fun class to play overall.

I like to have one dash ability on Y, a fast hack n slash attack on X and a lob/stun attack on B: keeps the muscle memory Vocations easier for me (makes swapping more fun IMO).

Double jump and Dodge make it feel so much more fluid too: when I went back to play my Fighter to get Sinew, I felt so slow and bogged down.

Yeah, she went over the side. Gravity deaths are unfortunately not salvageable. Rehired her though. Pawn deaths only result in a 3 star rating. That's not terrible.

The BBI Level 2 weapon I gave her should make up for it.

huh didnt know that.

Also regarding pawn inclinations, is there anyway to see the 3rd and 4th inclinations?

Does interacting with the pawn rift stone "rest" them to update them for others? Or do I literally need to sleep in a bed?

You have to sleep, as it's the only way to sync to the server.

Anyone with a Fighter Pawn:

What build are you using and why?

Currently I'm Mitigator/Utilitarian

Sword: Burst Strike, Steel Will, Antler Toss
Shield: Launchboard, Divine Defense, Shield Drum

I thought Utilitarian might force her to use defenseive skills to aid the party, and sometimes it works out, like: shield drum and gather as many enemies as possible, blink strike/toss them all at once.

Sometimes she does like to sit just outside of battle hunkering down for no reason.

I'm thinking a few things:

Removing all defenseive skills, switching to Scather/Mitigator, and allowing her to go all out attack.

Removin a few skills. Is it better to have a full set of 3/3, or less specific skills that they use more often?

Is there a better way to set up a defensive Fighter if they're actually useful (maybe for casters?).

I seem to be getting decent feedback on her usefulness, but I'm pretty much winging this.

On PS3, my pawn was Scather/Challenger with

Sword: Burst Strike, Hindsight Sweep, Dragon's Maw/Downcrack.
Shield: Shield Bash, Cymbal Onslaught, Divine Defense.

He'd always be in the thick of it, even climbing the big guys. Always got 5* ratings on him, too.

quick question about a boardquest. this pawn guild quest to kill a cyclops (which gives the silver idol, I cant get the gold idol anymore I fucked the escort up apparently), I know where its done, but will a main story quest send me to the same place later? It seems like it would so I just want to check so I dont have to go there twice

The "Put The Eye Out" quest takes you inside the Shadow Fort, into some tunnels where the large goblin ran off to after the first quest you took there; the entrance is a hole in the ground right outside the inner castles main door.

If you go to your Quest tab and select which quest you want as your primary, it will show a red circle on the map where to go.

PSA: When you purify BBI gear, it picks from a pool decided by the current vocation color of your main and your pawn (yellow, red, blue). To narrow down the pool, have both be the same color. So to get magic user gear, make both a blue vocation.

Is there anyway to make the armor at the black cat not suck?

You mean stat wise? Eventually, you will become powerful enough to dress for looks and not stats.armor stats improve as you upgrade them, unless you cant upgrade them (I forgot if some don't allow that)You will find ones with better stats eventually. I'm a fan of the Gloves of Might sold by Jonathan at the Encampment. They enhance climbing speed comparable to a Strider.

Wait these are sold now? I remember these being a reward for a dlc quest...that's kinda lame.

Ayyy, my pawn finally got some results. I think my spot on the "fix the database" roulette finally happened last night, I was gifted with about 90k RC after all was said and done. Also some meat chunks and plants.

Still having an amazing time replaying this with the graphical and framerate improvements. I started just running around killing stuff as other classes that I never tried before, just to experiment a bit, I think I might try to take on the
drake in the forest soon
.

Could use some tips here, been playing on hard mode and even with upgraded gear, i'm still getting 1-shotted by most mobs. Feels like i'm missing something. Currently lvl 20 and an Assassin, personal pawn is a Sorcerer.

Having a ton of fun in this game again (started on PS3 when Dark Arisen came out but the frame rate was just too much to handle so I gave up), but I haven't gotten very far. I'm about level 18 or so just trying to do side quests and get enough DCP to get some of the better augments from each class for an Assassin/Strider/Ranger build. I'm not heavily focused on min-maxing stats, but I'm leveling as an Assassin for the early game STR boost and then I'll just play as whatever later on. I want to have good STR and decent defenses so I can switch vocations a lot and not have to worry too much.

I'm using a Mage Pawn, Emma, with support skills and Util/Medicant/Nexus. She's keeping regular Anodyne as well. Any advice for spells beyond not upgrading Anodyne? And what about the fourth inclination? I kinda want her to just throw Ingle or something when she's got nothing better to do. From what I understand, the bestiary knowledge takes care of this eventually.

My steamid is "mw" and here's my community page if you want to add me/rent her out: http://steamcommunity.com/id/markwaters/

Any advice on Assassin/Ranger building, making my pawn support better, and so on, is appreciated as well. What about my other 2 pawns? What vocations should I be hiring?

You're missing the fact that hard mode is actually new game+... and even then, you're going to have to turn it back to normal mode at some point. The long goal is to play through the entire game on hard mode, including bitter black isle... and that's likely going to take many playthroughs to achieve.

You can find out the third one via the knowledge chair, the 4th one you can only find out by checking the save game itself (or by using potions ofcourse).

Thanks, I followed your potion guide for a sorcerer pawn, was just curious how I'd check to see if its working (since i had used other potions before)

Sorry if this is been asked before but can anyone give me some tips as to where are good spots to place port crystals? Don't want to waste the few that I have.

Yeah stats wise. Looks wise they're the best I've seen so far. Ah okay, well I'll definitley try out those gloves

Reward for the quest Winged Reaver in the Quest Pack: The Challenger.
Further copies can be purchased from Jonathan at The Encampment for Rift Crystals.
Quest Pack: The Challenger is a series of DLC quests available as downloadable content.
(This DLC is included with the purchase of Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen)
I guess I ended up buying them for my pawn. It's been a while.

It depends how far you've played the game , but here's a look at some locations that are helpful
