how are people platinum on this already? I've been hammering it for hours a day since release and I'm still only at like 60% of the trophies.

some people have a lot of free time it seems. i got the game at launch and feel like i've been playing as much as i can yet i am only just out of stormveil castle after about 26 hours. when i was younger i could find myself playing a game for 10, 15 or even 20 hours straight but i couldn't do that now. if that was me today then i'd have got to where i am now over the weekend after launch

lol so i just discovered my game world updated to assume i skipped Stormveil because apparently Roderika and Enia only turn up to Roundtable Hold once you defeat Godrick. They've been at Roundtable Hold from very early on in my playthrough! That's because I spoke to Roderika at Stormhill Shack and instead of going to Stormveil I went to Lake Facing Cliffs and rested there, and that was when I was taken to Roundtable Hold for the first time. When I got there Roderika was already standing by the fireplace and Enia was there too I'm sure (if not she appeared the next time I went). Now I think of it that might be why that NPC didn't turn up at Elleh to give me the bell. i got enia mixed with the twin husk merchant.
I enjoyed Stormveil and the Godrick fight but to think it was all optional and the game thought I skipped it like 20 hours ago is crazy

not sure if it's true but i'm sure i saw someone say that early game has a lot of melee/strength weapons and crappy armor. once you get past that it's more varied apparently.

I've definitely noticed a lot more weapons have Faith and Intelligence requirements compared to previous Souls games.

first thing find a walking sanctuary and duplicate it
then go to the finger lady in the round table to get boss weapons
technically you can also consume for a moderate amount of souls, but with farming bering possible it's not worth it

i have 50 h in the game so i'm not really at the start,,but every time i kill a boss i get some huge ass blade with 30 str requirement or similiar

My experience early game. The starting area is filled with more Dex weapons but it changes later. The game is massive and there is a huge variety of weapons / spells.
Without spoiling, in the south area (Weeping Peninsula) there is a bit more STR weapons to find if I remember correctly.

this fight broke my balls, so many hours of failing 'till I gave up... but then I skipped it by following a questline I guess, not even sure what happened there. Came back much later and the fight happened again, this time I was 30 levels higher with a +10 Rollo so they had no chance

You can get the twin blades and Uchi katana in the starting area
Haven’t used the twin blades but people love em. I’m level 128 and still use the uchi

What do you call Starting area ? xD I am 80 hours into the game and I think I have explore pretty well the "Starting area" and I haven't any Twinblade.
This game is so huge and filled with stuff to find (or miss)

I think I was there too early, this fight was probably intended to happen after the main area boss... I'm not even sure what triggers the festival event to happen in its place, I thought it was following Renna's and then Blaidd questline?
Gargoyle couple seemed impossible at first, summons were dying just running into the poison and that is another I had to return to much later to beat

Dude if you’re 80 hours in there are a ton of dex options. I’m pure dex and have a ton of weapons to choose from.
Hand of melania is prob my current favorite weapon
There are tons of other katanas too. You can get an uchi in Limgrave. Dual wielding them is a nice combo, although I tend to 2h the hand of melania.
Whips are fun, thorned whip scales great with dex. I use haslow whips because it’s easier to get.
People swear by bloodhounds fang. It’s one of the if not most popular weapons.
hook claws also do insane damage

Haha No I am fine, I use a hybrid of Faith/Strength build (relying more on Dragon and Crucible incantations).
I am just surprised that there is a Twinblade in the starting area while I have none yet.

Yes I think I will go full blood loss build. I am dual wielding Uchi right armament, and meteorite ore blade left armament. Will get blood flame, look for blood loss talismans and other stuff that supports it. 2 katanas already are serving me well and I think blood loss will make my build way more deadlier than starting to pour skill points elsewhere. Thanks.

It’s right behind the place you begin, just jump down the hill and go to the ruins by the lake with the dragon
It’s like a 1 minute walk from where you enter the world after the tutorial

First the problem wth Gargoyles are they huge so the camera is just gonna be messy and they just keep doing poison attack and it has crazy range so every time I try to get one of them other one is vomiting poison and I'm force to escape.
With Godskin Duo...fuck those guys, FUCK those assholes, they spam that black fire ball attack so damn fucking much and you would think just if you can mange kill one of them the fight would be easier but FUCK that! other one just bring them back to life........I hate that fight sooooo much.

THIS ! I am 80 hours did a good part of the map but there is still a lot to explore and I am sure there is some surprises (like Siofra or Ainsel river, which I can't fully explore yet...).
And I am not counting the "road block" where I probably have to come back later in order something happen. Or just find out where I have to go to continue a quest.
It will take me 200 hours to finish it. This game is really impressive.

Caelid's bullshit is close to indefensible here, hyper aggressive enemies with massive health pools, magic archers that bombard you with homing arrows from above and when you get close are fucking hard as fuck knights

When you go for the other endings, it is actually very easy to speed through the game. My last run through the game on ng++ to get the full 1000 took me a little over 2 hours. It's your first run through the game where you spend dozens or hundreds of hours figuring out where everything is and likely finding most if not all the collectables for the other trophies. Then it's just a matter of cleanup.

I'm 80 hours in on this play through and this is my 3rd character so I'm a bit familiar with the world and I still can easily see it taking at least 150 hours to explore all the areas and do all the side quests
Volcano Manor and Ranni's quest lines alone are huge, I haven't even started Fia and god knows how many others I'm missing. Millicents quest line took a long ass time too.
there are I'm sure many quest lines I don't even know about. there was a barbarian chick in the Roundtable a while ago. haven't seen her since, I'm sure that is a quest line.
I also think I skipped Yura's quest line and hit a point where I can't go back and do it

did Leyndell sewers catacombs last night...I thought I was going insane. pretty clever design, I legit thought I was losing my mind.
serious gaslighting there. the maze makes you feel like you're going in circles but it's all by design. the two areas mirrored themselves. they even put dead enemies and new enemies near the enemies you supposedly killed. what a trip of a dungeon

is the damage from bows supposed to be underwhelming? maybe I just need to get my black bow to +10, but it is at +8 and does pitiful damage
might switch to crossbow or something. the pulley crossbow looks interesting.
I know people were thinking of going pure archery in this game, I don't even see how it's feasible. the damage output is just so low.

Yeah bow damage isn't very good and none of the bows have good damage scaling anyway. I've only made a little progress on my bow character, so can't really give any personal thoughts outside of videos of bow builds. Apparently most of the Ash of Wars for bows aren't very good either.
Still viable, just not as good as they should it seems.

with 70 dex (80 if using my dex talisman) and using the bow damage increase talisman on the black bow, and it still does hardly any damage on enemies. you can only carry 99 arrows on you, 99 arrows isn't enough to kill a boss. 99 arrows w/ my talisman, 70 dex, +8 bow did only like 25% of the last erdtree avatar's health I fought. so you have to rely on special arrows, which can be tricky to come by.
now that I found a way to easily farm runes though, I am stocking up on poison and fire arrows from the NPCs that sell an infinite amount. I need to figure out what NPCs sell infinite special arrows. bought 600 fire and 600 poison arrows last night. would love some other options.
the black bow is still at D dex scaling at level 8 and I haven't found a bow that has better dex scaling. not sure what I'm supposed to do to get better dmg output.
the special move on the black bow sucks too. I like that is a cross between a long bow and short bow, but I wish it had a better special attack.
