So Zelda's score will be based on 3 scales and vary site by site:

  1. game is reviewed as a standard AAA game and compared to other AAA games.
  2. game is reviewed as a open world RPG and compared to other RPG's.
  3. game is reviewed as a Zelda game and scored based off how it fairs compared to other games in the series.
I cannot wait for the review thread.

Meltdowns. People are going crazy over one bad review in the Horizon thread.

I hope that DF will have a nice Wii U / Switch comparison videos for Zelda. Need to know if it's worth it to get the Switch. At the moment: no.

Nintendo embargoes are pretty strict and sometimes silly, they might have asked press not to show elements such as the eshop. I remember I wasn't allowed to show Rosalina in Super Mario 3D World even though they had revealed her in a Direct.
Yeah I know Nintendo can be strict. I've heard the Gamexplain guys mention it before. Like they probably can't take 32 degree angle pictures or something. Lol

Seems really strange to have a preview and a review for a console so close together. I guess it's good that we're start getting some more info from Thursday on.

I can tell you this much without even knowing much about the game. It will not take 240 hours to finish it.

You underestimate the power of "find all these stupid skultullas" and "hey look, this is the dark/twilight/phantom world! I mean it's identical to the other, just less fun. Have a good 50+ hours of pure boredom!"

Fun fact : press wasn't allowed to talk about Pokémon Sun/Moon demo's content, even when the thing was actually out and everyone was playing it.

Online won't be paid and fully featured until fall, and there's no VC at launch, so you don't need a direct about these two things right now.

That hasn't been officially confirmed.

And while I wouldn't be surprised, they did say we're getting a free VC game each month for the online service. And that service should be starting on day one.

The paid online service won't start until fall, that's when you'll get your rented VC games.

I think performance is going to knock it down to 90 or slightly below it. Will be interesting comparing Wii U reviews to Switch reviews.

Performance is rarely a factor in reviews unless it's frequently noticeable. The Wii U version will probably still review well.

If that's confirmed, what a fucking mess.

This is such a rushed launch.

"Here's a free trial of our online service for a few months but you won't be able to test out the most unique features that might make you interested in paying for it."

I wonder if a tech analysis by DF would count as a preview...
That's because Skyward Sword is brilliant.
I also think the hate it gets on GAF is completely exagerated.
The different areas where extremely well designed.
I remember being blown away by the time mechanic in Lanayru desert for example.

Why ? The paid online has been announced for fall since the january press conference. The rented VC games are just supposed to give more incentive to pay. But you have to pay in the first place. So not until fall.

The post you quoted explains the "why" party.

I mean, it's already unquestionably ridiculous that you lose games after the month. Not letting people get a couple months of that as part of the free trial is just dumb.

Skyward Sword is one of those games that people hate because it isn't what they wanted it to be rather than for how good it is. SS is a linear Zelda with a heavy emphasis on motion controls, it does what it sets out to do extremely well and is incredibly well designed. Is it a 10? Not for me but that's just opinions.

You were expecting them to give you the games for free until the paid service launch ?

I was expecting the free online service trial to give people a taste of the unique features that the online service offers. As if it's well-received, they would be more likely to see people switch over to a paid subscription.

But I guess I shouldn't expect logical decisions considering this is the company that decided you'll lose the free game at the end of each month.

Some really frustrating choices with this launch, as excited as I am.

More like they wouldn't understand why the thing they got for free suddenly now costs money without any new advantages compared to the previous situation. That's kinda basic tbh.

How is that relevant? I am a nintendo fan...period. But keep up the ignorance.

You just called someone a "Nintendo fan" as an insult. This is after your drive-by thread-crapping in the "FFXIV on Switch" thread.

So no, you can't then say "but I'm a Nintendo fan" as if you didn't just insult someone for that.

I tell you what. If virtual console isn't going to be launching for months, when it does launch it better be damn good from day 1. And I want Gamecube games dammit.
