For some reason this reminded me of the locker room at my gym. The old guys let it all hang out and are the only people who use the lap pool.

Did they scream at you to stop talking, cut the Hollywood showers out, wash your cents and assholes and get out the shower before you get beat again.

Fyi, getting beat isn't a physical beating, it's getting pt'd until the point of physical exhaustion

We had female rdcs. They watched us go in and made sure everyone was cleaning and getting the fuck out

Ohhhh. Yeah both of mine were males so they couldn't be there when we were showering / changing. I mean everyone showered because we were all like "don't be that one person who fucking reeks".

There was one girl though who'd "shower" without using soap, like she'd deny it but I mean...we all saw each other shower. She didn't use strong enough deodorant either so she had the worst B.O. I'd ever had the displeasure to smell.

Like she legit didn't let her hair down or wash it for two weeks and we were all like "pls don't do this to us".

Only the old people shower with other old people. Or use the pools. Everyone else just uses the lockers and changes as quickly as possible.

What's her NeoGAF username?

Seriously though basic hygiene should be so fucking easy why do some people get it so wrong?

I hope the stuff we see her doing from this video doesn't mean the lightsaber fighting in episode 8 will feel like a dance routine ala the prequels as opposed to people fighting

I think this was a common enough complaint that they won't fall down this rabbit hole.

It feels like, almost to a fault, that this trilogy is all about course correction

I hope they develop a new style of saber fighting for this. like luke previously was making it up as he went vs a gimped vader and before that was thousands of years put into an art. this should be more tactical now. better thought out than luke's but not meant to be showy

She was very Christian and generally very weird so I wonder if that's just like...her family's "natural" approach or whatever. She was totally one of those people.

Odd stuff, like some offshoot Christian cult stuff. Who am I to judge about whatever weird cult though? Especially when I am fully equipped to judge someone for not fucking washing properly.

They can be diametrically opposite to the PT and I'll be very happy.

The difference has to do with the perception of saber weight, doesn't it? In the original trilogy, they were like swords. In the prequels, all of the weight was in the hilt and the twirling compensated for that.

well yeah but i don't think thats the in universe explanation. i feel like they were longer in the OT also but i could be remembering wrong

Yeah, saw the thread on that.

Shit like this makes me so angry.

its why we can't just leave people alone to deal with the consequences of their actions. they're affecting other people

Please don't tell me there's some shitty harassment thing going on in this thread :/ That would kinda be a real bummer
No, nothing like that. It's complicated to explain and personal, but I have my reasons. I will probably pop in from time to time to see how y'all doing but, yeah.

I could never shake the feeling of both people participating in a pre-arranged choreography whenever I watch the shit in the prequels.

Beyond that, the prequels just seemed to think it was sufficient to wave lightsabers around and dazzle us. Lightsaber duels have traditionally been less about spinning blades and fancy dance moves and more about what's going on with the characters and what it means that they're fighting. Fuck the prequels ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Vader can adjust his saber length so maybe.

And yeah that's the production explanation but also the im universe reasining for how lightsabers work.

I'd like something like the RotJ choreography. TFA was about there so I was fine with it.

"traditionally" between one guy who just picked up a lightsaber and a guy on life support. there really is no reason for their fights to define how others would work. (unless its between a girl who just picked up a lightsaber and a guy who got shot with a bowcaster :p)

but yeah they took it way too far in the prequels.

I don't understand how the prequels could manage to get so much wrong not only in terms of star wars but in terms of basic film making competence.

but I won't be tempted into going down this path, it leads to hate, which leads to fear, which leads to suffering

Well

When filming began for The Phantom Menace, the new stunt coordinator Nick Gillard ramped up the speed and agility the characters demonstrated in lightsaber duels, the idea being that the prequels took place when the Jedi Order was in "full flower," at least in terms of combat techniques.

While the usage of lightsabers was originally inspired by rapiers featured in the old serials George Lucas enjoyed, the final choreography in A New Hope looked nothing like fencing. As Jedi and their Sith counterparts were heavily inspired by samurai, the fighting styles utilized were based more on kendo. The slower, more strength-oriented moves of kendo used in the duel also helped mesh with Lucas' concept that it was a battle between what were essentially two old men.

The Clone Wars is what the prequels should have been. To me everything about Clone Wars worked from the style, the characters, and the universe.

When I watch RotS I just imagine it's Clone Wars anakin the character and not the shitty one presented in the live action films.

I've seen people question other people's race, gender, sexuality etc just cause they dont' want to be proven wrong

I remember when I was 17 or whatever it was -- watching The Phantom Menace on opening night. No one was more hyped than me for Star Wars. I wore out my Empire Strikes Back VHS.

I remember being so distracted by the idiocy of the story construction and baffled by the lack of a central main character or anyone with any personality that I couldn't enjoy it at all.

Why did Qui-Gon Jin need to even exist? I never understood that. Why did they go so out of the way to bend things as far away from what the OT set up as possible? The OT made it sound like Obi Wan was Yoda's apprentice (when in reality he was just a baby in some preschool jedi farm overseen by Yoda or whatever, apparently) and they made it sound like Obi Wan and Anakin were close friends. Instead, Obi Wan and Anakin seem to generally dislike eachother and he only trained him because Qui-Gon asked him to. It's so needlessly convoluted and stupid.

I saw a youtube video mention this once -- But basically, if my old friend Anakin went crazy and choked his pregnant wife after murdering a bunch of helpless children, I wouldn't look back on him with fondness and reflect on the good old days. I would feel really uncomfortable at his very mention.

If you were friends with Adam Lanza before Sandy Hook, would you years later sit back and smile wistfully about your good friend Adam Lanza?

probably because it looks like they're reacting to moves that haven't happened yet. You could pass that off canonically as "lol jedi" but we know that it's because you had actors take a crash course in master swordfighting

Yea it's all nonsense and everyone knows it. It was never all laid out beforehand and he made up most of the plot points as he went.

I typed up and deleted so many things.

Don't get sucked in man. I'm sure if we sucked that dude out of the internet and sat him infront of us, looked at his life decisions we would know why he was saying these things.

if you attribute his actions to mental illness then maybe. that actually would be an interesting interpretation of anakin's actions. i don't think he's consistent enough to fit anything specific though

theres situations where they swing their lightsabers in places where it would have no chance to hit no matter what and others where they choose to do needlessly complicated maneuvers where they could just side step or something. the least they could have done is actually allow the actors to try to hit eachother.

Yea it's all nonsense and everyone knows it. It was never all laid out beforehand and he made up most of the plot points as he went.

i wonder if people loving him making up the whole father thing in the OT as he went contributed to him saying "fuck it. lets change the meaning of everything they say"

Anytime I try to be reasonable in threads like that shit gets taken out of context and some bozo will extrapolate the worst possible intention out of my post to attack me, when I'm probably the most bleeding heart liberal dude you'd ever meet.

The American Liberal is such a weird thing in 2016.

I don't have deep enough interactions with conservatives to know for sure, but you're probably right. This idea that we need to surround and attack any ideological impurity is so harmful.
