Speaking of Batman, Batman: Return to Arkham got delayed. That's a 1st for a remaster. Thank god too, the graphical differences were underwhelming in areas.

I think the inability to accept really lazy artwork was my whole downfall as a comic artist, because non-lazy artwork required so much time per page as to be impractical

From the looks of it some of these superhero comics don't have the same aversion to it

It depends on the budget of a book. That book was a vanity project by Smith and his best friend. Go check out some books by JH williams III or Stjepan Sejic or Amanda Conor, etc. This is a baaaaaad example.

Amanda Conner is a great example of an artist who knows how to be lewd AF without falling into the same old garbage. I have some troubles with her style (faces can be a bit similar), but her Power Girl run was a treasure.

Because you get it filtered. Only the best makes it to you. If you go to a 711 in Japan and check out the racks of anthologies, most of it is crap.

Same as if you go to Comiket, there is a reverence for American books because they get compilations of only the best. We don't get to see the hundreds of books of pages of mostly negative space and crudely drawn teenage boys and they don't see buff guys with pouches and shitty stippling
