I understand that, but I just get the feeling that some Fate fans just don't like people that have different opinions about their show.

I should clarify. I'm not really a Fate fan. I actively dislike most of Type-Moons works. I enjoy the setting, and several characters in FSN, and like one of the routes. That's it.
I just feel some of the criticisms are rather poorly thought out, or lack critical thinking.
For example:
Fate Stay Night UBW - 10

Yes, let's leave Archer home when we're going to confront what could be another Master. Alas, it turned out to be yet you still don't call for him, even if it may very well cost you your life? All because you don't want him to meet Caster? Riiiiiiiiin...
Boxer-kun was a fresh breath of air, never underestimate someone. He kinda reminded me of Scar from FMA. Emiya summoning those weapons was cool.
About to blast your opponent with your handlaser? Nah, withdraw Caster. Why? Because that's enough, that's why apparently. Stop retreating all the time! At this point I'm pondering dropping this and just look up the fights on youtube or something, though I've made it this far..

Rin doesn't trust Archer, so she leaves him at home. She probably is over confident that she, Shirou, and Saber can take out Kuzuki and possibly Caster without him, and that reasoning isn't without logic. For one, Caster's magic cannot hurt Saber, so one on one Caster would stand no chance against Saber in most situations. All that leaves is the Master, for both Shirou and Rin. Assuming he is just a regular dude being manipulated or not, he normally shouldn't be able to hold his own against Shirou and Rin. Nobody would've expected him to be some crazy melee fighter able to go toe to toe with Saber. And even if Rin called Archer, it's not like he would be able to just teleport there.
Maybe you or someone else wouldn't leave Archer at home, but Rin looked at the situation and decided to leave him, because she doesn't trust him. He may betray her, or may kill Shirou or Saber.
Caster's magic does not hurt Saber. You are shown that in this episode. I don't see what her blasting her laser beams at the end would've done.

The characters have different motivations for what they want to do. They have personalities. They are not flawless, and they often make decisions that may not seem rational. But that is not so different from people in real life. I'm not saying someone has to like the characters, but the characters are doing what they want to do, and saying 'Rin should be doing this! Shirou shouldn't be doing that! Why aren't they doing what I think they should be doing!' acting as though they are poor characters, or it is some kind of fault with the writing, annoys me. The characters aren't machines. They make mistakes. Do people want characters that are flawless? I don't really get it. It's fine to dislike characters for who they are, but again some of the criticisms just seem silly to me.

This show had went from "generic and bad" to "Holy shit what the fuck!?". I mean this episode had everything. Succubi! Incestuous undertones! Singing mech battles! Alternate Realities! Yuri Overtones! They have just abandoned all rhyme or reason and just said "fuck it" and started putting whatever they wanted.

Looks like Sinon has some real life problems and trauma to deal with, though I think she was pretty ballsy and a hero for what she did. Hope they tried to give her counseling. I wonder why her mother doesn't live with her. Anyways, this touches on why she plays GGO and why she wants to become stronger in the game, so it was good backstory.

What her friend mentioned about AGI only users not being able to solo just makes me think Kirito is gonna go that route and be a badass.

Oh, and how dare Aki-san feel up Kirito's ass? Only Asuna and me have exclusive use to Kirito's ass. Moving on, Kirito is finally gonna log in to GGO. Perhaps he'll meet Sinon next episode? Of course he will. Preferably by bumping into her and accidentally groping her.

And one final teaser; we seem to see a glimpse of Death Gun irl, the current antagonist and reason that Kirito is entering GGO. Looks like he could be targeting Sinon next. Or maybe it's her friend and he's eliminating top players so that Sinon will be the strongest???

A summary of what happened today between Narag and WanSabre
Average shoujo shit of having to dumb down your main lead just to be able to have this unconvincing drama.

I really wish more modern shoujo anime would start having good presentation like Kimi ni Todoke instead of this cheap look they all have. Only My Little Monster managed to beat the trend out of the recent adaptations.

To be fair, Full Metal Panic and Amagi Brilliant Park's light novels have the same author.

I was aware of that, haha. I was just referring to the fact that I liked Bonta-Kun in FMP far more than any time Moffle showed up in Amagi.

Heroman - 4

Uyobqe3.png

Anime Stan Lee spotted again!

So the alien cockroaches send their giant bowling balls of doom to attack humanity! They're so powerful they can even lift themselves out of holes by becoming giant spike balls! Heroman is unable to defeat this enemy, and is only able to hold it off to allow everyone to escape. But it turns out more giant bowling balls are on the way, will Joey and Heroman's giant form be able to stop it?

FIND OUT NEXT TIME ON HEROMAN!!

I should mention how I love how the ED of this show is done in an American-esque comic book style. It's a great touch.

4 episodes into Love Lab, and I am finding it frequently hilarious (after a bit of a slow start, admittedly). Love the way the characters play off each other, and the music video in episode 4 is one of the funniest scenes I've encountered in anime.

It wasn't the best anime of last year
to me
for nothing you know!

Caster's magic does not hurt Saber. You are shown that in this episode. I don't see what her blasting her laser beams at the end would've done.

I haven't watched the episode yet, but is
there any reason that caster doesn't use rule-breaker on Saber after she's an inch from death? I remember in the vn there was this weird moment where caster is all like "I'll get saber now!" and then there's the teacher/shirou battle and they retreat with nothing else happening, like caster just sat there and did nothing during the fight.

The decline of Kokkuri-san into yet another dumb 4koma anime adaption is pretty sad. They really had something special going on with the first episode and then it steadily went downhill.

It killed my interest early on seeing where it was going week after week. It's very disheartening.

Caster approaches Saber with rule breaker, but the actual exchange between Kuzuki and Shirou is over in like 5 seconds. Caster turns away from Saber to look, surprised because he projected weapons and held his own against Kuzuki I guess, and in the second she looks away, Saber quickly dashes at Kuzuki to cut him down from behind but Caster saves him. Though you could still argue she had time to use it on Saber, it's a much shorter scene so it doesn't come across as bad I don't think.

OMG! Waifu Kirito is real! My hopes and dreams have come true! Though it's not immediately apparent if he's a feminine dude or a chick. I need to know so I know what porn to fap to.

Anyways, Kirito miraculously comes across Sinon to help him, and just rolls with being a girl. They go to the market to buy guns only for Kirito to realize he doesn't have enough money. But thankfully, there's a skill based casino game right nearby, perfect for him to make some dough and show off his skills, and that he does.

And what does he buy as his weapon? A fucking lightsaber! And it's purple! Jedi Master Kirito is gonna go all Mace Windu on everyone's asses in the upcoming BoB Gun competition. Game over, Death Gun. Might as well turn yourself in and save yourself a beatdown.

And to close of the episode, we have a race scene as Kirito and Sinon try to make their way on time to enter the gun competition. And apparently the buggy Kirito is using like a pro is supposed to be hard to control. Will Kirito ever cease to amaze? The answer is no.

holy shit that like "past lives" scene was amazing. so
all of first team (minus the dead ones of course) have been together throughout history? wow
also Ange you better get together with Hilda because she's officially bro-tier and better than mr. faceplants-into-your-crotch man. and that preview too,
they get their own pet dragon!

10/10 best show about teenage girls fighting dragons in mechs that I've ever seen.

Faye's opportunistic nature is really apparent here and I appreciate this episode as, while it's independent of the previous episode plot-wise, it feels like Faye's introduction is concluded here as she ingratiates herself into the team, transitioning from rival to member with the deal she made to stop the missile and the shared anxiety of hyperspace at the end.

Swordfish II's firing of its cannon was some extreme eye-candy as well.

So Kirito and Sinon make it on time for the sign-ups (of course), but Kirito chooses not to enter his real information for the competition, which disqualifies him for the grand prize when he wins (and he will win), and of course, he amazingly gets a slot that will pit him against Sinon only in the finals. Should be exciting.

Anyways, we're treated to Sinon's ass once more in the competition changing room and Kirito chooses to reveal that he is a male (I guess that answers that). Kirito dons what seems to be the only colour of equipment that's available to him ever, and Spiegel (AKA Death Gun. I'm onto him) makes an appearance to cheer for Sinon. Sinon challenges Kirito to make it to the finals to face her, and Kirito replies, "if you're inviting me, I'll have to be sure I'm there" while walking away. What a badass.

So the first round begins, and holy crap, Kirito really is a Jedi Master! Clearing his mind and running towards his opponent while deflecting the bullets (complete with lightsaber sounds) was amazing! Will he Force Choke his next opponent? He's already wearing the right coloured garb. Back at the waiting room, Kirito meats Darth Maul, I mean, Death Gun, and it's revealed that he knows Kirito from SAO. So I guess it isn't Speigel. Probably just a rabid groupee.

I can't hold all these feels and tears of sadness. With two episodes left they have enough time to make it a happy ending, though it wouldn't be awful if it ended here. I expect they'll
see Noel again, be it briefly or permanently
. It's been a rough ride in more than a few respects, but they really made some appealing characters. I understand why Noel loves them as much as she does and it made this episode work in a way I wouldn't have expected in the first half.

Definitely. I was really hoping they'd develop Kohina's character. The circumstances surrounding her situation and personality are intruiging, and there's just so much they could have worked done with her character. But really, I just wanted to see her grow and change as a character.

But she hasn't grown at all; she's the same static episode as she was in episode 1, and that's truly disappointing. It's a competent comedy anime, but it could have been much more than that.

At least the OP was amazing.

Happiness Charge PreCure 44

I'm trying to think if there's anything I watched this weekend that didn't involve someone breaking down in tears and nothing comes to mind. Megumi's recovering from last week's
heartbreak
and the true Big Bad is
trying to corrupt her into the next Mirage
. I thought it was among the best episodes of the series to date...not that the show will qualify for any anime of the year voting in my books, as it won't wrap until I think last week of January, beginning of February.

But yeah, well animated, emotional, great acting out of Megumi Nakajima, and a good action scene. At its best, this is what Happiness Charge PreCure is. At its worst it's badly animated product placement, but the show keeps me watching because they pull off great character moments and battles regularly despite the bad that accompanies it.

It's my first PreCure series and I'm not in love with it to the level that's going to get me to watch the 2015 series, but it's definitely enough to make me want to go watch HeartCatch PreCure at long last.

Bebop sure like its first person gun cuts. Preview for episode 5 has the third or fourth I've seen so far.
Katerina's first person gun cut in episode one is really easy to recall in my head. Camera movement in general is incredible in Bebop. It seems like they were really trying to innovate in that way. Yutapon's cut in Asteroid Blues shows such a masterful understanding of kinetic movement with the aid of perspective.

So it seams Death Gun was a former member of Laughing Coffin from SAO, which fazes Kirito as it brings up some bad memories. I guess he has to appear "human" every once in a while to throw people off of his Demigod status.

Anyways, Kirito goes beast mode on the rest of his opponents and makes it to the finals against Sinon. I totally didn't see that coming. Anyways, like a badass, Kirito nonchalantly walks towards Sinon, which psyches her out and makes her miss multiple times (though in reality, he's actually using the Force to deflect the bullets). Of course, Kirito wins, cutting a sniper bullet in half while doing so. Oh, and Sinon completely falls for him. She never stood a chance. Sex scene ensues. Match was pointless though since they both make it to the real finals (these were the qualifiers), lol.

Oh, and one of the ads I saw while waiting for the episode to play was for Phoenix Wright.

You know, deaths don't really have the same emotional impact they should have when you already know most everyone is gonna die.

Love that fight as it shames so many others and yeah, even when I first watched this forever ago, I still had the sense the camerawork was special. I always think of the Pierrot Le Fou ep where Spike throws the trash one direction and the camera follows it while he pops out on the other side of the screen.

There's also a bit in Spike's flashback in episode 5 that surprised me too where you see this empty street and the camera bounces around shaky, tilted and unfocused until Julia steps out and the frame centers on her before falling away, revealing it was actually Spike's POV all along.

Where it however falls flat is the characters in general. Not only did they lack the detail found elsewhere but the animation felt off and the framerate was messed up on top of it. That even looked bad on the puppet characters, ones where you'd hope it may work because you'd actually want some uncanny valley.
Poor Okiura, Kazuchika Kise and Tetsuya Nishio. Get rekt apparently.

If I had to make a list of my favorite single episodes of anime, this would surely be inthe top top three. As it's the first of the show's core mythology episodes, there's this incredible onus on it to set the stage for the rest of them and I've always thought it managed that easily. There's so much to like about this one as it finally addresses the issues of Spike's past which have been largely ignored until now save for the opening flashback and his cryptic comment about running away in episode 1. He just sort of exists in the world without being tethered to anything else aside from the doctor who sold him information in the second episode. When Jet has similar interactions with his Ganymede connection, there's a sense of a shared history between the two that was lacking with Spike's exchange.

This makes sense given Spike's past and his reluctance to acknowledge it as seen by his demand Jet share the story behind his cybernetic arm in exchange for his own story. (This, in turn, is great because it creates a sense of mystery around Jet's own hidden past for his featured episode down the road.) We're eased into Spike's history as he's drawn back into it against his own will as cold sense of obligation manifests. Without delving too far into details, it's amazing how much information was imparted to the viewer via just three avenues in this episode: Spike's conversation with Annie which touches upon his past with the Red Dragon syndicate, Spike's fight with Vicious and the words exchanged there that establishes their relationship and disdain for one another without ever touching upon the why of it all, and his memories which show glimpses of his former life. Each is part of the larger whole and no single one explicitly reveals Spike's past, instead creating a sort of pastiche of elements that become a little more clear upon examining them together but still retaining some ambiguity due to his memories being context-less and non-chronological.
