What would that accomplish? Marvel's plate is full, and they're not going to carve out space for a property that is poisoned.
To be honest, nah, fuck the rights. Besides, the only thing worthwhile from the F4 is Doom.
This is about as wrong as things get.
EDIT: To elaborate, even if you ignore the Fantastic Four themselves, future Guardians sequels would greatly benefit from the properties that Fox has rights to via Fantastic Four.

I'm almost sure Josh Trank is just having a situation similar to David Fincher during Alien 3 in which it's mainly the studios fault. I can't seriously imagine him being completely okay with how it turned out after doing something like Chronicle.
Then again, I can totally see him attempt to make Chronicle's semi-minimalist formula apply to this property which quite frankly, just won't work.

That would totally make sense. I mean, as much as I liked Chronicle, it was totally a "first timer" production. Combined with the fact that he's still pretty young, I could see pressure being a problem.
Even Spielberg was pulling his hair out when he was making Jaws at his age.

Given the state of the special effects, the cancellation of the 3D version, and the tepid marketing effort, I have to wonder if Fox sabotaged it's own movie to burn Trank for his behavior on set. Or maybe they saw what they were working with and decided not to throw any more good money after bad.
