I said I'd post pictures with the unboxed nendos so here we go.
Technically the Iron bros were already unboxed but I've relocated them to the top shelf and tweaked their stances. Having Iron Man in that particular pose is REALLY hard. Not quite false advertising but close lol.
Then I moved to the vocaloids. All in all they're great though the older nendos are really much less interesting. Less posable, more stiff and well, the quality is lower. Rin and Len's painting was really sub-par and Rin's ribbon is grey rather than white (those were originals bought through the GSC store at MCM London and I guess they must be from their initial release). Luka's base is absolutely horrendous. Her hair makes the use of normal base + support impossible so you get a round base that you slot the nendo into and the fold of her dress is supposed to lock her in place. In reality she can topple over with the slightest vibration. I had to put some putty in the back to make her a bit more stable. I am very much in love with the end result though, they look amazing together! (also Meiko is best!)
Sakura Shinguji and her mech! Very poor in accessories but basically 2 nendos. I wished the mech was a bit more flexible (Mecha Wooser is much better in that regard) but I think I managed to come up with a nice little scene for them. Looking forward to the next Sakura Wars nendo.
Next we have...
What's with the conflicted feelings face Ryuuko?
Ah. I see. Mako doesn't seem to care though! I decided to display those two with Phat Ryuuko in between them towards the front, until Phat Satsuki arrives. As for Satsuki-sama, well..
I'd love to setup a permanent display like this for her, it's just too good. Also I had to battle with her to get that particular pose, her arms really don't allow much flexibility. I do have an extra sword for other nendos now though!
Next up was Saber Lion. Now this here is the biggest dissapointment. She was a first edition so no square base + support, it's another round base with a slot system but it's even worse than Luka's since there's no dress or hair or whatever to lock her into place and the slot is larger than her legs/feet so she can't stand on her own at all. I used putty again to hold her. The kit doesn't have much either, just 4 extra arms, the food bowl and the faces who are actually quite nice. Being from 2008 she's very stiff too, like Rin/Len. In the end I'm glad I paid only 1800 yen for her but I don't regret the purchase.
Everyone knows Renchon so I'll just pass to the next one!
I wanted to display Iona with all the extra effects (the holograms) but they are super flimsy and cound't stay straight, making it really ugly so I ended up with the classic crouching on the mainframe pose. Bring on best girl Takao next!
The Rin & Ren sisters : again very poor on accessories BUT you get 2 nendos for Ren and 3 for Rin! The only issue is you get only 1 base & support for Ren and 2 bases & 1 support in the Rin box. Luckly since Iron Man isn't using his support I set both swimsuit versions on a single base with 2 supports. Mecha-Wooser is amazing : the head opens but isn't loose, it slides and can stay open. Sakura's mech head can only be taken off or left on, no in betweens. Oh, and if you're wondering, you only put the torso of the nendo inside, not the entire body. I'm super happy with those two and I hope Wooser's 2nd season means we might see more nendos from it.
I'm super happy with the display (no full picture, sorry) but it only makes me want to add more. Nendoroids truly are the devil. Abandon all hope if you decide to collect them.
