The lack of VA is only for the beta, the full game will have it. Have to say it was funny watching the cutscenes with no no VA.

TP management will be a thing once you start having more enemies with curse (TP drain debuff) and having to use higher level abilities.

For party content:

Guildhests
16-18 instanced raids at launch starting at level 15. (most are required to be beaten to progress with the main story).
Crystal Tower & Bahamut's Labyrinth (both supposedly 24 player raids)
Primals (Ifrit, Garuda, Titan, Good King Moggle Mog XII, Ramuh)
High level FATEs including Primal FATEs (only Odin announced so far)
PvP

The Duty Finder should be tested in two weeks that automatically matches with players across servers for content.

Certain story events will most likely need a party as well. Just much further down the road...after they introduce party basics I guess (which is around level 15 via guildhests).

Oh good. This was pretty much my only complaint of what I've seen so far.

Yeah they mentioned part of the reason its not in beta is due to the voice over contract they made with the actors/actresses; they can't/won't appear till the final release client (I hope that doesn't mean beta phase 4 won't have voices if that version is carrying over...). You can actually hear some of the voices in where they 'should' go in the new Crystals Call trailer.

Also one of the story missions has an FMV cutscene and that one has voice, since it's an scene from that trailer, so there's no problems having already in the game I guess.

Someone actually made a thread to complain about how some of the npcs (Momodi in particular, who runs the inn/adventurer's guild) have somewhat...colorful language :P

Of course they thought she was a kid for some reason, so I guess that had some merit, but still. Ul'dah and Limsa arent exactly the most proper of cities...and it fits perfectly.

Holding down rt/r2 to enter combat abilities feels pretty strange to me. I am playing on PC with a controller, and as a gladiator i keep it held down the entire fight, which is not very comfortable.

Does that change later where you are using LT and RT abilities in the same battle, and it has some benefit? Maybe it should just toggle..

Edit - didn't realize toggle was an option. I haven't done it yet but I am thinking of switching the LT,RT with the LB, RB as I would imagine that would feel much more comfortable. Although I wish there was an option to have a normal bar at the bottom like 1.0 had. The cross bar works well but I honestly don't need all those slots and would prefer a smaller version personally.

Is there any easier way to sit in chairs? Have to like, stand on them and type /sit...

I wonder how long Phase 4 will be. Considering their outline for Phase 3, Phase 4 won't start until the end of July probably. And then they also apparently have early access for people that preorder.

Now that I think about it, I guess having played FFXI with a controller also, holding down R2/L2 didn't feel that strange to me.
Yeah it didn't bug me much either. It felt much sleeker than slowly selecting macros in FFXI.

But once I got my chocobuddy things got a bit cumbersome. I created a separate action bar for the choco stances and any time I needed to switch him on the fly it was a bit of a pain to switch back and forth easily.

This is mostly due to me not being used to the system. I wasn't using the button combo to switch palettes but rather just tabbing through them. All the button combos can get confusing. I can easily see myself switching to the wrong bar or using the wrong ability when I'm required to use 2-3 palettes.

I played on PC this weekend and enjoyed it. Waiting to use my character next weekend. The game certainly runs way better on my PC (even though it wasn't bad before), so I'm happy with that.

I'm a bit upset that I didn't get a PS3 invite though. I used my original FFXIII code that I didn't lose. I thought that guaranteed a PS3 beta invite, but I guess not. Or maybe it was because I used the same email as my PC account?

So how does changing class work I was lv10 and buying a new weapon did not work

I think they need some kind of manual/faq for new players when the game is out. Few things i did not get

I was playing with a ps3 pad on pc and it was super nice

You can equip skills from other classes. Second Wind from pugilist (level 8) is one of the more useful as it gives an instant health boost.

Conversely, dinging 2 in CNJ is a great pickup for melees; it takes that useless MP and gives you a few 30HP cures.

Go to the guild and sign up, it gives you the weapon for free.
Manual's linked from the beta forum.

I have a question about stats. What increases the "spell speed"? My brother is feeling the Thaumaturge, but he doesn't like the slow casting speed. Does this improve in time?

Currently playing as a Dragoon/Lancer. Best class.
I was wondering, why am I now getting "undefined" when I'm trying to log in? Are the NA servers down? Also, I'm playing on Ultros. I'm really new to MMO's. Currently level 10. Can I join anyone's guild?

This round of the beta's over which is why you can't connect - should be back next weekend.

The "Spell Speed" stat, although it's not possible to increase Spell Speed a lot at low levels. Spell Speed is supposed to get higher with stats and traits at higher levels.

Press L3!

Wait what? I thought the beta was going to be for three weeks?

They are doing concentrated weekends for specific testing, trying to get as many on at one time to facilitate that. Durability test (which is the extended play tests) are coming at the end of phase 3 as the last test for the phase. They wanted to test regional servers and PS3 this weekend and thus wanted people on in a concetrated mass in specific time frame they were available to monitor testing (the weekend).

Also, AOEs. I played ARC in beta and found myself having to actually manage my TP once I got Quick Nock (conal AOE)

Overall, I had a blast and I really enjoyed it.

- Leveling is solid. Questing is standard MMO kill/fetch, TBH its way out classed by modern day WoW's questing. However, with guildhests, Fates, hunting logs, kill chains, leves, level syncing ect really help distinguish the leveling experience and keep it fresh.

- Guildhest is fantastic. I really hope they continue to expand on it. The challenges are fun and its actually teaching people how to play in a group.

- Combat is much improved. My lvl 20 pug in 1.2 was no where near as dynamic and fun as my lvl 20 pug in 2.0. Its still too early to have any final judgement on the combat system but I certainly like the direction it is going. I def don't like limit break, would much rather a return to skill chains/magic bursts.

Things I'd like to see changed:

- Get rid of the "questwall" for doing the instances. The trinity already makes putting groups together frustrating, there should be as few hurdles as possible standing in the way.

- The limits on leves are as lame as ever and I cannot understand why it still exists. For me, they're a lot more engaging than the regular quests since you can tune their difficulty.

- I couldn't find an option in settings but I'd like to be able to filter out everyone else's debuffs/attacks on a target -- its get really spammy and hard to track my debuffs on a mob in group play.

- I leveled the entire time with my brother and it was annoying to have to constantly drop group when we were doing story/class quests. I don't mind them being solo but I don't see why it can't just pull me into the instance without forcing me to drop group first.

I agree with this, the limit on the levels are kinda pointless when they should just set it so you can only do one once per day. And turn that into the daily system of sorts. (Though I absolutely hate dailies). There rewards for them aren't anything special and they take more time to do than FATES and generally give much less reward.

... you can use them for gathering and crafting. 1 a day? FUCK THAT

Anyone else getting "undefined" when they try logging in PS3 edition?

Overall, I like it. I'm still fairly new to MMO's, but the one I did play, WOW, was too fetch-questy. Not to say FFXIV isn't (because it most certainly is), but the polish is much better.

I just wish there was a way to shrink the windows on the HUD. Framerate drives me nuts at times too, and asking for password everytime you log in suuuuucks.

Edit: Wait, beta is over? Nooooo! Good thing I was up till 6am playing! @_@

If you paid for ff14 before v2.0 can you just resume your subscription when v2.0 releases? or do you need to buy it all over again?

I'm talking about the battle ones mostly.
But you realize you can only do the main storyline quest once right and there are 8 other classes you can level... and only 2 of the others are going to get the side quest of the zones.

The leves are NOT bad just dont waste time with them now and let them stack up. I think you get 4 every 12 hours I think? Not sure exactly.

But they do stack up, you can make it so you have 80 leves saved up to do straight if you are not using them right away.

wait what?
without the need to buy ARR CE?
