The latest version update continues to time out for me at 66% with the following error:
11030 File download timed out. Please shut down and restart Final Fantasy XIV.3:40012,20498,20049.
Any ideas for a work around?

Ok, I see why some people have been complaining about the UI controls, especially the mouse responsiveness and so many menus.
Still, first few minutes were fun. Quite different then other MMOs.

Decided to start a 2nd character to see what it would be like to Disciple of Hand it up. Chose Alchemist... why in the hell do they even let you choose a Hand/Land Disciple at the beginning if you're worthless in battle?

Hmm first crash.
Also was seeing good amount lag between pressing keys to attack/switch modes and the game actually doing it.
I wonder if the Lindblum server is overloaded, might try a different one.

Im still updating my client. It's trying to download H2010.08.30.2000 but when I look at my patch folder, it shows the file is already in there at a size of 4.9 g.
Should this patch still be downloading? I downloaded the rar file from the op a few days ago and extracted it into the patch folder. I am in the process of downloading the rar file again and copying it over any patchs I have in the folder because I think it has been updated.
Anyone know if something is up or what I should do?

At this point I'm actually afraid to play more, because it might ruin my willpower to play the game all over again come launch.
The grind is crazy, and I really don't want to spend hours mining rocks during open beta only to have my time spent wiped a few weeks later. I'm not getting much pure 'fun' from the game aside from the fact that my character is getting more experience and is gaining levels/gil.
Might be the menu lag, the delayed combat, bugs, etc., but it just feels like I'm forcing myself to play at this point because it's Final Fantasy.

If you have a PS3 pad, you can also run a USB or get a bluetooth dongle and get motion joy. Just get a program to auto disable driver signing though.

It's got a great item list with roll over for recipes and stuff on the leve quests and skills. Loads of stuff. Great resource.

Anyone else having serious combat issues? The lag is so horrible, it's killed me multiple times already. I am in engaged with a mob and it will attack me but after one hit then I can no longer attack, and my character just stands there and gets hit. Closed beta worked fine, but it goes open and it all goes to hell :lol

Tired of setting up hotbars and manually chaning jobs. Copy and paste these (edit to your liking) to make macros. Go to Menu > Configuration > Macros. Saves sooooo much time.
Change to how you see fit. Copy and paste what you want.
To make a macro go to Config then Macros.

You indeed have a big problem. Your PC is much better than mine, and I run it in low settings, windowed, 1280x960 (because I like it to leave space on the screen), and I get it to run between 15-30 fps. And it doesn't look like shit (DeathNote's screenshot).
Turn your settings down, it shouldn't go below 20 fps in crowded areas with your specs.

On the bright side that is the best place for skill and exp. Just kill the wolves, alt-f4 or close the window, re log in and you appear in th ebit before the wolves. Talk to the NPC and bam! after the cutscene 3 more wolves giving a nother couple hundred skill per kill. Is there any known way to start the storylines of other nations? I started in Ul'dah, and wanted to initiate the Gridania storyline.
Also, I'm sure I'm not the only one with a heavily-damaged undershirt. Is there any place I can buy a new one, or an easy recipe for another? You can't repair it because you can't unequip it, and that little icon is driving me nuts.

Okay, well. The game when I'm just looking around, the framerate is quite steady. But then I start running around and it pauses every time it loads another person into memory. I wonder if Squenix knows I have 8GB of RAM, could you please use that memory to pre-cache models so the game doesn't have a absence seizure every time it needs to load someone from the hard drive?
It looks really good and all that, but I really don't want to buy an SSD just to play this game. :lol

You're having a bad problem there. I only have 4 GB of DDR2 RAM, with a just as shitty HDD, my game doesn't pauses when loading characters. You might have some sort of conflict going on there in your PC. Since you have 8GB ram you probably have a good cpu and gpu. Try tweaking them out, update some drivers, etc.

Turn off Ambient Occlusion and depth of field as well. Not sure if that'll help, but for some reason, both are performance hogs.
EDIT: Also im trying to start a change on Lindblum by helping anyone that happens to ask something I might be able to help with.
