I have seen relatively epic rage from GAF people for non-DPS reasons on content that was no longer relatively challenging (I think it made the rage worse, actually.)

It's mostly what people on the internet do to each other in any kind of frustrating situation ever.

Rage happened on every mmo I played, mostly during PvP stuff in previous ones though. I never played WoW so I wasn't really exposed with that kind of PvE content though.

But honestly this is the kind of shit that would make me quit. I really wouldn't enjoy being yelled at that way.

Edit: Also today I discovered that Healer LB3 has a maximum range, I always thought it just hit the entire party regardless of distance.

Thats just crazy. I mean i've seen light rage from Hunts in shout...but in something with nearly negligible death penalty?

People don't like failure.

I think there's disliking failure, and then there's being something broken inside of them. Some of the intensity in those WoW rage videos reflects a worrying lack of perspective. It's one thing to be passionate about something, but that's too much. Strikes me as the gaming equivalent of those parents that beat the tar out of one another at their kids' soccer game. =S

The passion also shows when a group successes. I remember when we used to go absolutely nuts whenever we managed to down a new raid boss.

If XIV doesn't have angry reactions on that scale then I almost suspect the raid design is flawed from where I'm coming from ;)

I still don't see how that excuses such shitty behavior. If it's contained within a raid group where the person is entering it with the understanding that some folks will be like that, so be it. Unfortunately, it often spills over into random groups as well. I'll get frustrated with some of the people in my groups, but would never think to lash out like that. It's just extremely poor character, and it's a very tough sell to try and excuse it when it hits the general community.

People who tend to be dicks like that just wind up on my blacklist so I know not to associate with them. It doesn't matter how good they are at the game, I'll straight up dislike them as human beings if they think that sort of behavior is even remotely acceptable.

Unfortunately, some communities just turn the other cheek to it too much and as a result the toxicity can get out of control. It's one of the things I like about FFXIV. The community on the whole is pretty decent, and assholes tend to get called out on their behavior far more.

So to even get those items with red scrips like Moonbeam silk, Raziqcoat and etc...I'm gonna need not just my crafters to 60 but also a MIN and BTN at 60 as well? I...am in trouble there.

I kinda wanna jump back into getting Builder of the Land or whatever it's called but 12 Ixal quests in a day is pretty soul crushing.

Then don't do them? You don't need Ixal quests to level crafters, HQ leves are still pretty damn great, even after exp nerfs. The daily GC turn ins are also pretty great.

I leveled my crafters pre-Ixal so I'm not sure how much exp they actually give, but I did max their rep and can safely say it'd have to be incredibly large to get me to do them every day again. Just really boring, and that was just the 6/day allowances.

What are you doing? I just got my WAR (second class) to 58....also doing botanist and miner but they are far away at like 56...

Trying to get my crafters to 60. Even with just doing GC item turn ins, the recipes are pains in the ass. Then knowing I have scrips ahead of me after that? Makes me reconsider it all.

Question about Hilda

Is she half hyur and half elf? I want my character to look like that D:

Easily one of my favorite character designs in Heavensward.

Ah, ya. I've dropped crafting completely from XIV . I was never a fan. I enjoy the exploration aspect of gathering though...but yes. Whichever Class...the grind is real.

Is the Lvl50->Heavensward content link in the OP still the go to?
On the cusp of giving in to the MMO itch and playing all these dumb grinding hours of catchup from T5

Somebody explain the entire current potion situation to me please. Why do I need a Master 3 book for a potion recipe that is only level 58 and uses like... a ton of stupid ingredients and only yields 1 per craft?

The worst part is I can't justify blowing one on a training dummy to see what impact it has on Wildfire.

Luckily they're cheap because they also drop like crazy from maps, SE logic!

Tbh being an Alch specialist should craft like 5potions out of the mats or whatever, same for CUL, that'd be a good incentive to spec these. Could give other bonuses to other classes too I guess, like starting with 1000quality from the start or whatever.

That'd be on top of fixing the specialized skills so they don't suck nearly as much though.

I still can't wrap my head around the whistle system and the best part is that I don't have to.

It's not just alchemy, all the crafters got items locked behind master book 3 that don't really fit the past master book stuff. Some of it is even required for level 56-58 leves, and the final class quests ask for items from the books too. It's just to force you to use the blue scrip system I think, the EXP/material investment is rarely worth it so they gate basic recipes behind it to make you do them any way.

The fact that you only make one potion per craft now is something else entirely, it's incredibly dumb and feels like a last minute change because (before they fixed it) GC turn ins still asked for batches of 3 for the new potions as well as dissolvents. On that note, imagine if dissolvents actually gave 3 per craft! Maybe that'd make up for the fact like every 55+ battle gear seems to require the crap to craft.

HQ Dex pots were like 35k per when I checked earlier; I'll continue to mainline Xpots most of the time, because that's just too insane to be worth it.

Oh could be I haven't checked since savage opened so I guess the demand skyrocketted especially with Faust. Just before though they were like the same as the old X pots prices due to maps. Can just use X pots anyway, the difference isn't really worth the cost, I mean if you NEED to meet the DPS check, the draco pots are slightly better, but the jump isn't nearly as much as it should be and once people start getting those i200 eso pieces, I'm sure they'll stop bothering buying draco pots.

Anyway whole crafting system is annoying atm, requiring 4-5 of everything to make anything, stupid hidden materials for basic material combines(hardsilver, titanium) and unspoiled on a non 60 material(adamantite, which they also picked for red scrips, to make sure they're worth a completely stupid amount) or like the stuff they had to add to a vendor at launch cause "eh guys let's put an unspoiled material in lvl 50 leather requirement, yay". Nerfed the good procs on everything to make crafting more RNG based and promote the specialization stuff even though it's weak that it'll still be worse than before based on RNG. And the red scrips nonsense.
