Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward |OT| The Midas Touch

Someone in my FC did 40 runs of Alex normal today, 10 of each turn. I'm not about that life. Need to finish the SCH zodiac so I can skip the first part and grab a decent WAR axe

Imagine if the next relic stage requires Alexander Savage clears lol.

Is it even worth doing all that to skip the first step?

I'm going with no if you have an alt class to level and aren't on, like, the final light step. Getting Bard atma took a while but was doable in a day of off and on grinding, and I got over three levels (barely into 52 to over a third through 55) on BLM while I was doing it.

So I just started this and didn't realize it was 200+ Alex normals...

I'll wait for the severe nerfs close to patch 3.5 then. :p

If you're doing Anima, it's because it's the relic/something to do/someday in the future it might end up BiS, not because i210. You're also probably not doing alt job Anima to i210 any time in the near future, so providing no other method would mean non-raiders are pretty much only able to get an i210 weapon on one job.

Can confirm. I'm gonna go at it super casual mode and not in any hurry to complete it. It's just a part of my daily routine in-game now.

Lets see, day two and I have roughly twenty percent of the token grind done, and I haven't even really gotten serious yet.

Yeeeah, I think people might have built this grind up to be a slightly bigger deal then it actually is. XD

Even if I had the slightest motivation to and hated myself enough to grind out 620 Alex clears, I'd still be completely screwed because there's no way I could afford the additional crafted materials on top of that. Easily 20+ million right now from the MB on my server, if what I saw today was anything to go by. Who knows how much that might inflate once people start realising you need those materials

Completely insane

And how long were you playing?

LiQuid!

I proudly and openly admit to wishing death upon the mothers of people I don't like
I was waiting to see what the next Zodiac weapon step was to see if I wanted to come back to the game and the answer is definitely no. Just wanted to pass along my condolences to all you guys. Stay strong everybody.

And how long were you playing?

About 3, maybe 3.5 hours today, longer yesterday but most of that was getting the Awakened weapon. Combination of having some resources built up, knowing how to Tome grind effectively, and riding a very productive hunt train.

PSA: An good hunt train may be the most time effective way to grind this, though there's a luck factor here. Hunts award both Law, Poetics, and Allied Seals, and are pretty generous with the later two, so you can build up a lot of resources pretty quickly if you luck out.

PSA 2: If you know a player that needs help through content, ride that tome bonus for all it's worth!

PSA 3: If you haven't traded in your 2000 Soldiery Tomes for Poetics, now is the time to do it!

Is there such a thing as non-dreadful gil farming? I'm not looking for a lot, just enough to upgrade my armor through the market (I'm lvl 50 now). Assuming there's no merchant that sells better/cheaper armor than the PLD VIT stuff on the market atm?

Is it worth aiming for a Immortal Flames gear/rank upgrade instead? I haven't really checked their 50 gear yet, but I'm only 1 GC rank below.

Trying to make 50→60 as painless as possible..

Thank you in advance!

Check your market board for cheap pieces (10kish) of i115 armor. After that go to Falcon's Nest NPC and buy their i115 pieces.

Or you can get some poetics and XP with the Level 50 Duty Roulette and Main Scenario roulette and buy Ironworks at Mor Dhona. Their prices got cut so it shouldn't take too long. This is the probably the more thrifty way.

Actually, if you do Heavensward side and story quests, they give you pretty good armor that is sometimes even HQ. It's also the same stuff as the Falcon's Nest vendor so I'd say do those quests while queuing for roulettes. This is probably the best way and the quests consistently have gear rewards, iirc.

Example quest reward: http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/playguide/db/quest/a8a0d831dd9/

Poetics are easy to get. You can get a full set of decent Ironworks gear in practically no time at this point. Easier than trying to buy everything from the market board, I think.

Plus if you do your roulettes you're still getting experience so it's hitting two birds with one stone.

Thank you, guys! ♡

I'm on the last few MSQs from ARR so HS shouldn't be too far away. I managed to get some gear that made things twice as fast! So I'm not suffering at least, not yet. Haha

Prices will go down. The only reason they are high now is because no one gathers in the diadem, so the market wasn't flooded with easy access mats. As soon as servers went up, people swimming in gil bought the cheap maps and inflated the prices. Making the items is super easy and it's not hard to get specialist together. A few hours of grinding mats and making the 16 items would be easy. The only cockblock would be aethersands, but I can gather in a couple of days.

Then again, I actually bothered fo get all crafts to 60s and meld my gear. So shrug emoticon.

Finally up to Part 3 of the Relic quest and I guess I found a use for all the gil I was holding onto (so long 11 mil ;_____________;)

Currently at 7/80. Thankfully I was capped on Poetics, nearly capped on Law and had some Soldiery to get rid of. For now at least, I'm just gonna focus on the Bone and Seeds since I used my tomes on them first. Should be a fun weekend >_>

I just remembered it took me like half a year to do one book for my MNK relic so I think I'll keep the same pace with anima np.

Sold one archaeornis skin map yesterday for 150k. 2 days ago they were selling for 20k. Economy on Behemoth is REALLY fucked up.

A guy created a thread on the official forums to compare the prices for Anima crafted items on the MB, on Chocobo you can buy an Adamantite Francesca por 60k. On Behemoth they're worth 1.5kk, Titanium Alloy thing was selling for 2 ~ 3kk. Is it the same for Ultros or the European servers?

I was crafting my gatherer equipment yesterday and needed 30 Dhalmel Hides, but people are selling them for 1200 each, it's really terrible.

Meh, I ran all of the dungeons synced and I'm probably one of the people farthest along in the relic line.

Don't forget to clean out your poop sock... or swap it... or whatever you do when one fills up.

I'm gonna log in this evening to take a look at this grind. I still feel like I might just not bother and take the casual way out.

Stupid work and responsibilities D:

And I won't even get to play until late tonight because of a work Christmas party.

Ah the office Christmas party. Spending your free time hanging out with dudes from work instead of your real friends. Pretty much forced to go or else you're not being a "team player". The best you can hope for is they at least take you somewhere nice.

Not even forced to go, open bar, excellent food, and getting my Christmas bonus today instead of waiting until Monday. Not really the worst deal in the world.

I'm curious if it might be faster to just spam lvl 50 dungeons and lvl 60 dungeons for Law/Poetics rather then constantly spam alexander. Lets say you get a group and do A1, it take 5 minutes per run, you get 20 Law + token. 10 runs = item + 200 Law in about 50 minutes, after 34 runs you should have 3 tokens for A1 item and enough for either one item from A3/4. 4 items in about 3 hours. But you would only need to run 7 synced Amdapor Keeps to get an item instead which may or may not be faster/slower but I dont think the difference is enough to exclude it from the spamming stage and it would only require 3 other people instead of 8 to get a spamming group going in DF. Same can be said of Law, would it be faster to spam fractal continuum for the Law tomes or a mix of that and A3/4 since they have law + tokens. And then of course there is hunts (Gafs favorite activity right??) in which old ARR As give 40 poetics, 10 law and 40 allied seals which can also be used for 2 tokens. Hell if you really wanted to go crazy you could just spam hunts and be able to get any of the 4 items eventually.

The thing is you don't have to burn yourself out spamming alexander, there are other avenues that you can do one day that will still give you progress toward your eventual goal. In fact im tempted to just do the A1/A2 items on poetics only as I also get the added benefit of being able to lvl another job while doing it since you have be synced in order to get poetics and the dungeons give EXP for kills now.

7 people spamming Steps is probably the fastest way actually for poetics. It's only new people queuing and if you have 7 people who know what to do, you burn him down in a few mins. It's like 100 poetics + newcomer bonus. Chrysalis would probably be the second best option, but more people are probably figuring out this is a possibility so you won't get the bonus option as often. You could also queue with a smaller group, but for Steps it's more likely to wipe (and waste a lot of time) with the more people who have no idea what to do.

Yeah, getting the new player bonus is a really fast way to instantly get a big boost of poetics. I've only been Solo-Queing for stuff, since I haven't really been taking the grind seriously yet. However, even with only getting a new player every 2nd or 3rd run or something, it doesn't end up mattering much when each run ends up only lasting about 3.5 minutes. XD

Dem 220 poetics for a newbie prae run is delicious.

Guys, guys, I don't know if you heard yet but Wolven isn't taking the grind seriously. You all need to relax, he isn't taking it seriously. It's not even that bad of a grind, he's not taking it seriously yet. XD

Edit: Forgot the XD at the end, sorry.

Well its perhaps faster, but I definitely like the idea of getting more EXP, probably the best thing about the new quest is aside from the second step almost everything can be done on a different job so you can get additional benefit beyond just grinding for the weapon. 2.0 quests you had to have the weapon on your for more then half the stuff. Primal fights, lights, book dungeons/fights, atma needed a weapon of similar caliber as the one you were working on so you couldnt use fates to lvl another job. Think the only thing you could do without the weapon and/or job was the dungeon atma stage and alexandrite (if you did hunts/daily quests for it instead of fates) and the soldiery/poetics you needed for different phases.

I've decided to take a break from adventuring and started to grind crafting classes up. Only now remembering how valuable having a gathering class is, I'm taking up mining so I can work on GSM, BSM and ARM without much stopping. LTW is at 50, in which I'm probably going to make GSM my first 60.

Thing is with mining, even with FC buff, scroll from the GC, and food it's really a grind. I make sure to do the daily turn ins with HQ. Wanted to save my leves since I burned a ton for GSM earlier this week (gathering leves don't seem to have a good payoff ratio compared to crafting ones). I'm level 32 and began hoarding Mythril Ore until 38 or so... I feel tonight it'll take me a few hours to get to 36 and was wondering if there was a slightly quicker method I'm not utilizing other than leves of course.

Stock up on poetics, they're easy to get and poetic gear is much cheaper now. Beastmen Dailies, Hunts and Hard Mode dungeons will be your best bet for fast poetic gains. Hunts will also give you seals for glamour and other 110 gear. Dailies depending on how far you've done them can net you a nice handful (can do 12 a day now).

Leves can be a handy source of gil if you don't mind doing those, though after 50 exp gains are minimal so there are HW ones you could do. Do achievements too, they net you a few thousand or more. Take up a gathering class like mining and go for ores and sell them on the MB. Botany go for logs (could make more if you craft them into lumber)
