Maybe the PSN being down is a sign that I should never return to this game. Scything has a pony and a spear, so there'll be no living with him now. I mean, it was dicey before, sure, but now...

You honestly see something wrong with that post? It's defending the name of the fc from someone who is trying to talk down on it when they never once made their presence known. I may not talk in fc very often anymore, but even I still remember the names of people who even make an attempt to join in and become more than just a number in the roster. I never once saw this person talk or even speak up when dungeons or anything else was being run, yet they come into a thread and start bashing it because they didn't get attention when they made no effort to make themselves known.
To be fair though, half of this thread isn't exactly helping "the name of the fc", so it's a pretty moot point trying to handle the few people who actually joined it ingame and didn't like their experience.

I feel like every time I pop into this thread or a thread related to FFXIV you're shitposting and shitting on the GAF FC and it's really sad
Literally nobody in the FC recognizes the name of that poster and many of us are on during the times listed. Hell, not even the officers who handle the invites to the FC recognize the name. For all we know, it's some person just saying things with no real basis (which, honestly, is what it sounds like). Nobody knows who they are and all they have to say is "I tried to be friendly but the FC shit on me and kicked me out of groups."
If they had a bad experience, sucks for them. It really does. But it really doesn't sound like things that actually happened.

Exactly this. Folks all absolutely antagonize the guy. As seen in that thread as well, there was a small contingent that understood where the guy was coming from. Then folks like Drama just outright insult the guy.
I love how we have just rolled smoothly from one drama straight into a new one ha ha! Can't we all just get along for the festive season at least?
I dunno, this feels seasonally accurate where prolonged interaction with each other turns festive love into festive hate.
Eh, i've been around since day 1, and sometimes i'm not instagreeted or have a question answered in FC chat. Why? Because sometimes people are in cutscenes, away from PC/PS4/PS3/whatever, in the middle of a battle, etc.
Just like in XI, sometimes you just have to ask for help multiple times. I try to join in whatever for fun, but many times i'll miss a request for help just because I was in the wrong place at the wrong time, or wasnt paying attention. It just goes with the territory, its not like there is some clique that isnt welcoming to new people.
And yes, any conversation going on will have random interjections, but thats the fun of talking to people in large groups. Makes things more lively imo.

Well when I tried to launch the Steam version of the trial to continue using it there (from PS4), the SE account system actually thought an account hijacking was in progress and my SE account was locked. So watch out there.
I finally got results from SE account support and changed my password to unlock my account. I saw that the non-Steam PC digital version is on sale for $10 on the Square Enix store so grabbed that, screw it. Just transferred from the PS4 trial to the full Windows version license. For that price I'll get a month's use out of it at least.

So I lost my PC, my brother's PC, two TVs and the modem to the storm yesterday.
Now that I got the PS4 to try to forget what happened and just play, PSN is still down.

When I was in the FC I never had any trouble chatting it up with folks. People really gotta just hop into the conversation, and not be shy. Folks don't really mind that anyway. There were some who seemed quiet, or, I assume, only ever talked in Mumble. I'd see Bara, Kagari, and Drama around a lot, but they always seemed kinda quiet compared to folks like Tiduz and Chocolat, but on the whole the FC struck me as being reasonably social on the whole during my time in it. Just don't be afraid to pipe up in chat. =)

Being a new player in the FC I have to say it's been welcoming and no matter how dumb my questions are for a new player I've almost always had quick answers. I think there's been a couple times I've commented about something or asked something that wasn't at all important and nobody said anything to it but that's fine with me.
I like the FC way more than my WoW guild and aside from there being more of a social aspect in the FC the general mood is also a big improvement from what I'm used to.
That really goes across the board. In the two weeks I've been playing people playing have been more friendly and helpful from what I notice all the time in WoW. It's been a pleasant experience.

I'm honestly racking my brain trying to figure out what you find objectionable about that post.
It's basically Drama attacking the person, when she could have left it alone and not even mentioned the last portion. Which in the end justifies the other person in their complaints.
