Kinda interested in coming back since Draenor ended up losing my interest rather quickly.
I have a few questions:
1. What's the quickest way to level now? When I quit it was fate-grinding, is that still the case?
2. How quickly would it take me to gear up my Blm to more current end-game levels? I quit at ilvl90 BIS turn 5 (no allagan weapon :\) just before the first major patch that introduced the 100/110 stuff.
3. How dead are the servers from what you guys can tell? I'm on Cactuar but I might transfer to a GAF server if its becoming a more niche game.

1. If you're DPS and queues are long I'd say mostly FATEs + logs + exploitable leves where relevant (out to sea @ costa del sol)
2. If you get enough tomes through grinding and get a Shiva weapon or something you could be ~110 pretty quickly.

I assume its entirely new and not rehashed clips from the beginning of the game?
It is indeed completely new, created just for A Realm Reborn/Turn 12.

It's definitely worth experiencing in-game rather than on Youtube or whatever. I know it was leaked before I personally saw it, so I avoided everything regarding it until I beat Turn 12 for myself. It's even more worthwhile seeing it in context, especially after working through the Turn and clearing it with your team/static.
Turn 12 can take a lot of practice [mostly the Bennu phase and the timing of them], but it's not too bad. Best of luck to you all.

edit: regarding t12 cutscene, i think there's a bug with it, 1st time we cleared the cutscene didn't play at all for me, i only got a white screen

As with most features, do your story quest. Once you join a Grand Company, you'll get a quest to purchase a permit or whatever to get a chocobo. It's also once you can start getting seals from FATEs.
Lots of people migrated off, searching for better waters. It's left Ultros, which leaned casual to begin with, kind of lacking when it comes to people doing end game content.
Late patch lull.

For story purposes. The class originates in Doma, and Doma as a story element isn't introduced until later.
But Doma isn't introduced until 2.1 which is postcap while you can become a ROG at level 10.

i'm still farming light, lol. you truly can't do this the casual way. it wants to drain your spirit.
It's probably because they couldn't be bothered to add it to the character creation stuff.

Could also be to force people to actually go through the quest that explains the rogue guild a bit, rather than start as one which would most likely skip quests. You don't get the whole "talk to the register guy, here are your level 1 daggers" etc stuff when you start as a class, only when you switch later on.
The too lazy to redo char creation is fairly believable though, it posed too many issues and wasn't really worth the time so they just decided to do without, I could see that. I assume Heavensward will change a bunch of that stuff with the new classes not well, being classes, and Au Ra being added. I assume at that point Rogue will be a starting class.

It's a different class, it's not any better or worse(at least not substantially) than other classes, it's really a matter of what you want to play. Has lower GCD than Dragoon though, but is a lot more lag sensitive, if you're euro/aussie, probably not the greatest class.
