It's a different class, it's not any better or worse(at least not substantially) than other classes, it's really a matter of what you want to play. Has lower GCD than Dragoon though, but is a lot more lag sensitive, if you're euro/aussie, probably not the greatest class.

I am Australian. :<

Well it's playable, it's just you'll probably be doing a bit less DPS than someone who doesn't lag, and once in a while a lag spike will make you mess up a ninjutsu cause it shows something casting even though it doesn't. It's not a huge deal and if you like the class you might as well play it, but yeah you're gonna have to level it first.

So I had my first proper 3-4 hours of game time today, and I have to say that the GAF group on Ultros were really helpful (giving me advice etc). The only thing is everyone is already playing end game stuff and thus I'm kind of in a hard position, I kind of have to play alone. Are there any low level players around or am I kind of late to the party? Again, you guys today were all awesome, but maybe I'm too late to really experience the game how I want to experience it (a bunch of low level noobs)...

Nothing wrong with doing things on your own. Everyone will still be around when you get to 50 to help you with that stuff.

For story purposes. The class originates in Doma, and Doma as a story element isn't introduced until later.

Rogue originates in Limsa though. Ninja originates in Doma.

In other news I blew up over 45 Craft I in the fifth slot of my artisan off hand. I wanted to cry. I'm at about 20 Control III for the final slot on my CRP's body.

And now no one is buying my shit. Life of a crafter is hard.

Rachel from last night here, it is kind of late for a huge amount of noobs. However, if you need people to help run content you can certainly ask and usually someone will be happy to help out. I know that I need practice on my tanking, so I would be happy to run some low level dungeons with you once you reach that point.

Not all low level players are necessarily bad. A lot of them are really good at their jobs. With that said, some people are leveling low lv jobs as well so will be glad to help you when I can. Just holler in the FC chat if you need help with anything! /Dani

I mean, you might be. If you were hoping for a dungeon full of first timers charging ahead into the Great Unknown to experience things fresh... then yeah. You're probably in for a bit of a let down. You could always look for other people fresh to the game and try to party up with them.

My first time in Pharos Sirius, we wipe on the first boss. "Hey LOLDRG how about you help with the adds and stop standing in shit"

The reason I wasn't "helping with the adds" is because I was trying not to stand in shit.

Kicked from group.

What the fuck ever to every dragoon hater in this game.

So, I got kicked from my first dungeon last night. It was a lower level dungeon and I was playing Ninja (which I am new to), but the party said absolutely nothing. No indication that I was not preforming well enough. I this normal?

Also, are there any really good guides out there for Ninjas?

Maybe next time, don't be new to a dungeon!

I dunno, that's lame. I would have reported them. Kicking someone for wiping once on the first boss of a dungeon??

Sigh, some players in this game are just jerks. I have only been kicked once and frankly I was glad to get out of there with how toxic the run had been. However, from reading this and other sites, I seem to pretty lucky on that. I have certainly seen an increase in abrasive behavior in endgame content, but still not too terrible so far. It helps that I try to play with fellow FC members as much as possible.

Were you pulling the enemies before the tank? Weird that they didn't say anything.. What server are you playing on? If it is Ultros, I'm sure someone here would be cool with running you through Satasha (the first dungeon).

Guess I'll do that before I continue with my story stuff.

Also save the purple/green gear you get in dungeons even if it's not for your class. Later on you'll be able to turn in for seals. You should have enough armory space for now. And soon after the chocobo you should get your 2 retainers (which give you 175 inventory slots each)

I am quite lucky to be in a relatively new FC which is mainly composed of players who started around the same time as I did. We are trying to complete most of the endgame content together and it's great to be able to go into a new dungeon without anyone knowing about it beforehand. We did Sastasha HM the first time yesterday and somehow had a lot of problems with the first boss. Some of you may probably laugh but it took us 50 minutes to take it down :( Fortunately we only wiped once at the 2nd and the last boss. It got really close in the end though. Killed the last boss with 40 seconds left on the clock.
The only disadvantage of doing everything with a small fc (especially the 8 man trials) is that we are quite slow in tackling new content. If I would just queue up for them on my own I'd probably have catched up with all the content already (except of Coil) but as it is, I am still stuck at Leviathan and LotA :p I enjoy going through all the content without pressure though so I guess it's an acceptable price.

smh I clicked buy on the wrong Soldiery earring last night, was up way past my bedtime.

Not a huge loss cuz I can use it for DPSing on my WAR, but now my NIN has +18 Vitality for no reason lol. Will need to run some extra dungeons to replace that Noct Earring with the proper Auroral Earring.

No. I was waiting for the tank to pull before I went in. It was really weird. My NIN just hit Lv 40 last night. I'm on Ultros. I might try getting a party together and see if I'm playing wrong. My main job is BRD and this is my first MMO, so I have had a lot of learning experiences!

Heads up to any former Stars of Destiny member (from Fairy/Sylph) playing on Ultros in XIV. I made a linkshell with myself (Darsh/Kenshiro) and Jaekat for any SoDer who wants to chit chat and catch up. Just send a /tell and I'll throw an invite your way.

We're also going that Eternal Bonding thing next Wednesday. Those cutscenes should be pretty funny (Roe + Miqote).

Edit: Oh yeah. My name is Darsh Pasan in game. Jae's is Jae Pasan. =x

How did you just do your first dungeon and you are lvl 40?

The thing that amuses me the most about all the dragoon hate is that I mained a ranger, a truly awful class, in EverQuest from vanilla to Luclin and that game was so much less balanced, simple and streamlined than this game by a million miles. No class deserves any special prejudice in this game because we're all just hitting the same buttons and dodging telegraphed AoEs. You can be just as skilled or just as stupid on any class.

My second trip to Pharos was cake. Nobody died. It took all of 15 minutes to clear and I was thanked for the bonus. That first group was a bunch of trashy, whiny bitches. Wish the DF wasn't cross-world so shaming them would even be worthwhile. I guess it will make me feel better if you guys know I'm not lying or exaggerating:

DF can be kind of frustrating and gross, but running stuff with randoms can be educational and lead to unexpected interesting moments in otherwise boring dungeons. Low level stuff with FC people tends to be too smooth to be fun.

That's very true. It also makes me feel a lot better about my tanking and healing. No matter how bad I think I am at those 2 roles, DF often reminds me that I am far from the worst and probably slightly above average.

Run DF as a tank, if they're going to boot you just tell them bye. You'll have another dungeon long before they do. If they boot you anytime close to the end then report them. Done and Done.
Also I don't think I'll bother leveling my choco beyond 14. It's just too boring.

Bought the Nutkin yesterday. Got a really good price from a dude that just had obtained it on a map. With this I think I have every expensive minion, aside from the new Assassin fish. Got the Bluebird myself from a map and bought the Fat Cat and the Baby Opo-Opo

Minions and glamour are the true endgame.

I am trying so hard not to collect minions, but the Pokemon/collector side of me makes it really hard not to want to "catch em all". I am already trying to avoid going for the primal ponies, despite how amazing Nightmare looks, but the mounts are really appealing to go for as well.

That sounds about right Thanatos. I was kicked for the first time at lvl 38.

I got a mine cart like a few months ago, think it was the 3rd XIV I ran or so. I sold it instantly cause it's an ugly minion anyway. Hard to bother doing it again though when I can get like 600shards a day instead. At least the fishing retainer, I don't need running stuff over and over so it's not an issue to try to get a Fat Cat. Just wish he wouldn't bring Cat Fish instead.

Sorry, my wording was confusing now looking back at it. This was the first time I've been kicked from a dungeon, not my first dungeon.

Ohhhhhh.

Yeah some people are just dickheads. Don't worry about it. What server do you play on?

I really love to collect minions but gave up on mounts a long time ago. I've seen only four so far and rolled less than 30 in all of them. Last time I rolled a 4.
