I'm hoping 2.5 adds some more anti-RMT stuff. We had a pretty good run when they added the 1 second limit to /tells, until spammers adapted.

Got plenty of stuff done with my Marauder class today. Reached Level 16/17, and completed the first three guildhests without any deaths.Gonna save the fourth one when I work on my Gladiator class. Currently working on Conjurer (at Level 10) and will take that through the guildhests as well and up to Level 15. As for when I'll finally enter a dungeon as a Tank, I'm gonna wait until I hit Level 18 Marauder. Maim might actually come in handy. May God have mercy on those who will be in my party

MRD/WAR is a masterclass enjoy it! Also overpower is your friend while tanking put it to good use :)

Also lvl your GLAD to 26 or so for provoke. WAR > PLD

Guildhest first time bonus is per class. You should do all guildhests on all classes. That's for xp though, if you want to wait until you level GLD to see it that's ok too I guess, but otherwise no reason to keep guildhests.

Maim isn't particularily important when tanking. It makes dungeons slightly faster by letting you do more damage/threat, but that's about it really, it only becomes relevant once you unlock the main combo chains with storm's eye/path. You can do dungeons as soon as you get overpower, which iirc is like at lvl 12 so before the first dungeon anyway. Just make sure to do the lvl 15 quest for Tomahawk, it's a great ability to pull with.

Tanking dungeons is otherwise fairly simple early on, just tomahawk a mob, then overpower every mobs a couple of times, then do your normal stuff on the mob that's being DPSed and that about sums it up. You can use cooldowns when you feel they're needed but early on they're not. It gets more interesting as you level up but low level tanking is pretty much done with only this.

If you plan to play Warrior, you'll need GLD to 15 for the lvl 30 quest, but really you want it to 22 for Provoke which is a must for endgame, and you'll probably want to level pugilist a bit to get a few of the cross class skills there(second wind, internal release and feather foot are all kinda decent). If you want to play paladin, you'll want conjurer to 15 instead.

The following adjustment has been made to the Ceremony of Eternal Bonding.
-If a host entered the venue as a Guest, s/he became unable to reenter as a Host, but an adjustment has now been made to allow re-entry.

The following issue affecting the Ceremony of Eternal Bonding has been addressed.
-The Ceremony of Eternal Bonding could be started even when the two hosts were not carrying a “Promise Wristband.”

we don't even get the weekly "look at this guys, we took care of some of them" on the front page anymore.
Well, they just posted the newest ban report:

- Accounts receiving disciplinary action for RMT/illicit activity: 4,450
- Action Details: Permanent ban from FINAL FANTASY XIV

- Accounts receiving disciplinary action for participation in RMT/illegal activity: 1
- Action Details: Temporary ban from FINAL FANTASY XIV

Hey guess what, banning accounts did literally nothing to stop the gil spam. Tells are staying exiled to an ignored chat tab until an actual solution is come up with.

Honestly the gil spam doesn't bother me, I don't feel like I get that much. I don't spend large amounts of time in-game idling in the higher pop areas though like some do, maybe I get looked over by however it is these guys find names.

At release it was really really bad, but then they kinda disappeared completely for awhile before coming back recently, but it's still pretty tame.

Is it weird that the first thing I thought of was that the prices seem different than some of the tells I get.

That's quite a lot. I get maybe one message per week (Shiva).

edit: Whoops, quoted the wrong person. It's directed at the post with the screen.

Gil spam for me tends to be worse during the off-peak hours after almost everyone has logged out. I get scattered messages in the evening (is Mist ward 1 considered a high pop area? That's where I always am), but once it gets around midnight things just escalate to a crazy degree.

Unrelated, but I wish there was a way to queue for trial roulette except for whatever's bright. I need like 1500 sold, but bonus fishing just results in getting dropped into light farms.

Square-Enix isn't actively do anything about that. In order to get around the /tell limit, the gil sellers have resorted to just paying for more accounts, which they can also use to farm gil, in order to spam people more efficiently. It isn't hard to find these guys even without the expanded ability an admin would have. Simply put, Square-Enix is getting paid by these people and don't really give a fuck if people are getting 5 tells a minute. The Japanese branch doesn't care because it isn't really affecting their servers, either people don't buy gil there or they are actually doing their job and deleting their accounts. The "were waiting for long periods of time to see where the gil is going" idea is bullshit. Stopping the activity at the source makes more sense instead of allowing the illegal activity to continue just so you can catch someone spending real money in order to pay for a grossly overpriced ingame house that they lied about.

The gil spam is getting ridiculous I get several tells every minute.

There's probably a script they use that messages everyone online on the server? So after people log out you come around more often for their tells.

Gil spam is annoying, sure, but I ignore it/accept it as a part of life now. They have broken me and my spirit.

I just delete a random name every so often from the list. Seems to work.
Fuck spam.

The first FFXIV Player Poll Results Page is a blast from the past. This was the poll YoshiP immediately put out to players following his introduction to the dev group. Check these answers.

6. What is your biggest expectation for the newly restructured development team?
492_1.jpg

7. Which of the following issues you would like to see addressed first? (Choose only one)
492_2.jpg

8. Which of the following would you like to see implemented first? (Choose only one)
492_3.jpg

Let's take a look at questions 6 through 8 together.

An overhaul to fundamental aspects of gameplay was by far and away the most common response. But an accelerated version update schedule and increased player communication are certainly not to be discounted, as each comprises over 10% of the total results. The responses to these questions have left quite an impression on us, and we will continue to be making numerous improvements to these areas in accordance with your continued feedback.

The issue that players would first like to see addressed is a general lack of game content, followed by changes to the battle system. Looking further, it seems that the type of content most strongly desired is quests and miniquests, accounting for about 40% of the responses. The auction house has also made a solid showing among the responses, no doubt due in part to the fact that, as previously mentioned, many of the pollees are or were FFXI players. My initial reaction was to interpret this as players stating that they want more adventures in Eorzea! More gil and loot!

In line with this, I believe that significant changes to the battle system are necessary to create a style of combat that lends itself to the enjoyment of quests and miniquests. Following that logic one step further, it is equally necessary to bring about significant changes to the user interface to create a UI that lends itself to the enjoyment of the battle system. After all, there is no point in making thorough improvements to battle if the response and usability of the interface isn't capable of conveying those improvements to players.

In line with the above results, we will be bringing quests and miniquests to Eorzea sometime after the beginning of February. Along with this, all of the changes being worked on during the end of last year and the beginning of this year to improve the games playability and user-friendliness will also be released around the same time.

Though the next version update will introduce a relatively small number of changes, preparations are already underway to bring further improvements in the near future via a number of smaller-scale patches, including the release of quests and system-side adjustments. At present, we intend for something new to be released about twice a month. Overhauls to the battle system and user interface will also be ongoing, which will make it easier for the players to enjoy the new quests and content being released. The small-scale, system-oriented updates that will be carried out can best be thought of as the necessary groundwork for the battle system revisions.

We will also be looking in earnest at the possibility of implementing an auction house, as well as continuing to improve the functionality of the item search feature. Once prioritized changes to the battle system have been made, we will continue to balance and adjust guildleve and behest rewards, as well as improve overall user-friendliness. I realize there are many things, but for me the first order of business is to create the FINAL FANTASY feeling. To have players take part in engaging quests that place them in a struggle against an impending crisis that threatens their world. To have those players combine their strength and fight alongside one another. I still can't help but wonder what that ominous four-line poem might portend for Eorzea in the coming year...

Also the titanic of questions back then:
11. Would you welcome changes to FINAL FANTASY XIV that would drastically alter the rules already set in Eorzea?
492_6.jpg

It seems this question started a wave of panic among players about whether or not character data would potentially be wiped. For the definitive answer on that, please see my response to a player's letter below. As for the results, 85% of players answered in the affirmative. This is something that will be in the forefront of my mind when making decisions concerning future updates to the game. I promise to do everything in my power to address as many of the players' demands and desires as I can.

Blacklisting stopped being terribly effective for me a month or two ago, I think. I'm not really getting repeat tells from the same character; the current strategy seems to be single-use characters that spam once and vanish. I rarely get gil spammer friend requests anymore because they don't care about being blisted anymore.
or I'm so unlikable even gil spammers don't want to be my friend.

Certain third-party tools allow you to filter out chat lines with regular expressions. For example, tells with "$" or "USD". Not only will that filter out most RMT tells, but also stock tips from Ranketsu.

Yeah like how there was more of a stable economy because gathering required effort. Now only fishing lies in that realm.
I swear the only reason the G3 Thanalan soil market is so stable is because it's such a long walk from an aetheryte. Sad.

Team GT ready to get flattened and mega flared to death in T13 tonight.

We should just stand in there for 10 minutes listening to Answers before doing anything.

EDIT - And Team GT?! Who agreed on that :p

We should be Team Saved by the Bell. You can be AC Slater. Moara would be Jessie cause she ends up with AC. Skoje is a Lisa for sure. Kingtut is totally a party girl, so he's Kelly. V'rius is the Principle. Tirazel is Screech. Korra is the biker girl who appeared for a season. I used to use a brick-like cellphone, so I get to be Zack :p And I know all the words to Zack Attack's classic - Friends Forever.

I just started playing again after trying this game out about 6 months ago....

I'm on the Ragnarok server. Is the GAF guild on this server really active? I feel like I'm missing out not being on Ultros. I guess I'll wait and see if I'm still into the game at level 50...

Had a pretty bad DF story dungeon. Healer was scholar and didn't seem to know to handle that class yet. She kept yelling at me I wasn't helping with the healing but I'm a summoner. There is only so much I can do lol. We died 3 times at the boss and tank was about to ragequit. Had to resurrect the tank twice during the try we won haha.

Pubbies don't understand what "go straight across" means.
Gosh, T9 with western players is such a pain in the butt.

The obvious solution is to constantly generate an aura of incompetence and confusion so nobody asks you to do anything. This works regardless of control method or in-game job.

I was trying to figure out what the hell Frumix was talking about and then realized it was divebombs. "B-b-but there is technically no move in the game called divebomb"
