According to Reddit, there seems to be some "lag" problems in-game (more than usual anyway), with abilities getting interrupted. Any confirmation/infirmation on this?

I think I was getting this too. After Swiftcast my dude will start doing the full Flare cast and I have to cancel it and fire Flare again for it to cast immediately. It's annoying. And sometimes I just get my cast of any spell interrupted.

So what is everyone's secret to getting Tombstones of Poetics fast? I am doing dungeon roulettes, but that only scores about 100 or so.

Just doing the roulettes you can cap your poetics in about 3 or 4 days. The cap is really low, there's really no reason to actively farm them unless you're close to reset day and not capped yet. (or you need some kind of gear asap)

no, the delay is real. i'm surprised nobody made a fuss until now. sometimes my skills lose the highlighting as well for no reason. i can usually continue the combo, but you can never be sure of that. it's a pain in the ass.

Or that you want a new poetic item right away for raiding or whatever, but yeah, otherwise you cap really fast just doing DREX.

That has happened to me on and off for as long as I've been playing. If you hear that sound of your hit you'll know if you can continue your combo.

What's awful is when mudras don't register properly, since there's no way to fix them, so you're doomed to rock the bunny ears like an idiot.

Even when I have a good connection, for some reason my character pulls out a Fuma Shuriken to cast Raiton.

Lag is the main reason I stopped playing Ninja despite really enjoying it's playstyle. The class is nearly unplayable when lag effects it's .5 second GCD Mudras, which happens 90% of the time.

it only started happening for me starting with last content patch. before that, it was only present in a super laggy environment. now this is the normal situation i'm in. it looks like my connection to the game is fine, but once i start fighting it's not.

yes, ninja is not a good class to play when you have connection problems.

Did they show any art for the new armors introduced in the world of darkness?

They showed some quick stuff, concept art and what not, but the real models come with the trailer, which should be tomorrow hopefully.

On lag, not lagging any more than usual lately. The whole "swiftcast then cast a spell before the buff pops" or "see the skill fire but it doesn't" happens to me from time to time, I wanna say once every couple of days or so(playing from europe). That's why ninja was frustrating, mudras showing but not firing means you end up doing might kassatsu rabbits and shit like that, plus in general you have to clip too much into the GCD when you can't chain them properly, but eh, still was decent DPS. On the current burst of lag though, most likely routing issues as usual. Not seeing any difference from europe at least, and a lot of people with issues looked like US people with comcast or whatever.

All the cool kids play on controller, what are you doing?

I play other video games too ;_;

also I feel like once I get off my lazy ass and start crafting I can channel that laziness into macros and a keyboard gives me more buttons for macros

I should probably try using a controller though...

Any of you folks use a Razer BlackWidow Ultimate keyboard? Thinking of picking one up in the 50% off sale.

I mostly use a controller but I have the 2013 edition for everything else. I think it's great apart from the fact that the keypresses can be really fecking loud.

Edit: I kind of hope the patch comes out on the 27th instead. Mostly cause I'll have a week off then >_>

Crazy to get confirmation that this isn't just me. Out of nowhere I have been randomly dropping combos even after my skills hit and go on cooldown.

Since I'm also one of the cool kids, I'll ask here: how the hell do you focus target on a controller?

We did MogEx on help night and I tanked. I realized it's absolutely essential to have one of the mog tanks focus target throughout the whole fight. I had to use a keyboard to do it (and I had to change the key, since Shift + T, would just give me a capital T on the chat window). It's really stupid there isn't an easy way to do it with the controller (at least not with default controls) since it's pretty much a must on some fights.

That's why I was failing on T6 btw, since I hadn't figured out how to do it yet and couldn't see the attack where you had to stop while I was attacking the adds.

Select target, then hit Square and choose Focus Target from the drop down list.

Hit Square or X on your controller when targeting an enemy. It is on the mini menu that comes up.

Part of why I'm really curious about the patch window is that the 19th is a holiday. A 24 hour outage on the 19th would be unfortunate.

I can't see 2.5 needing a 24 hour outage, 2.4 only really needed it because of the housing stuff being fixed, this post still exists, so I suppose that is a little more proof that it'll be releasing around the 20th.

If you're on PC and not spending a substantial portion of your fishing time alt-tabbed out and single button macroing it, you're fishing wrong. Can't lead conference calls with fishing noises in the background!

Wait..... you can do that?

1.) Use a controller with vibration
2.) Turn on the setting to accept controller input when the game window is not in focus/active
3.) Set up the reel/wait/mooch/cast macro
4.) do other things on PC, push button whenever controller vibrates.

I'd usually do the first few casts manually to release most of the garbage fish, but beyond that you can pretty much fish for extended periods without even looking at the client. Until the fish sense something amiss at least.

Welp, time to confess. ARR made me buy a second monitor.

For what it's worth, there's also a visual indicator to Blighted with the room being filled with pollen.

Man watching DPS in dungeons or trial roulette, it's surprising how many don't realize all the auto attacks they are missing by their movement. Especially bards, see so many running around without lockon or strafe movements.

I think the 'advanced' player expects/assumes way too much of the 'average' MMO player/pug. Chances are s/he's just mashing buttons and having fun. Can't tell them anything though, because either they don't care or are too offended to accept any advice.

There's also that strafing on a controller is ass, and depending on the player/content lock-on may not be worth it. Especially for ranged, having your camera centered on the boss can be extremely disorienting (lock-on on PLD is considerably more manageable since I'm zoomed way the hell in most of the time anyway and close to the boss.) and back pedaling can lead to dodge fails.

I've been screwing around with lock-on a lot lately, and from what I can tell it's distracting me to the point it ends up being a DPS loss since I miss a bunch of other crap. So when I'm not in the mood to experiment (or manage to eat 3 weights at once because I can't find myself on the screen, oops) I leave it off; there is zero in dungeon/trial that needs it or would be noticeably sped up by everyone consistently locking on.

Can Bards get auto-attack without lock-on? It's annoying to do so in a controller, I don't main it but I want to give a good DPS when I use it.

They can, as long as they are facing the enemy an in range. Problem is, when you move without lockon you stop facing the enemy and don't do the auto-attack.

For me, they key to using lock on is knowing when to do it, what aoe can be dodged by strafing and very importantly when to stop lock on. In T11 for example lock on is easier than regular moving most of the fight.

I think it might be too late by then.

Nope. The pollen releasing visual indicator is at the start of the blighted casting time . At least it doesn't insta-kill like it used to.

I've found that I have to stop moving/attacking before 3/4 of the casting time is finished or I get hit by it anyway. Dat latency.

After VIT and STR, what stat would you recommend I go for (melding primarily) as paladin while levelling? Acc, Dex, Parry, Det, Skill Speed, or Crit? Right now I plopped in a bunch of dex following one guide, but it's difficult for me to know which information is up to date and accurate.

I guess it might not matter all that much at this point, but as my paladin is a secondary job I'm levelling to play with a friend it's often on the min level for a dungeon and I'd like to make the most out of the gear I have. Currently I'm level 35.
