So a friend is doing the first Relic Reborn quest now. However, "Request Meld" does not appear in his list. So I told him to do the "Meld Materia Muchly" quest, however he cannot seem to do it without doing some other quests first in the same chain. He claims that he needs to level a crafting class to 25 for one of those quests, I never had to do that and I still have the Request Meld option. Did they change the requirements?

There isn't even a reward for doing these things. They're literal wastes of time.

Seems to be a trend in this game that your reward for your time investment is actually a punishment.
This is painful to read. If you don't enjoy the cutscene at least try to enjoy the fights, they're quite fun.

He doesn't need to do Meld Materia Muchly, that's to overmeld materias. He doesn't need to know how to overmeld, simply how to use materias, which is learned from the previous quests in the chain(basically if he can convert gear to materia, he's good). He might not have completed the quest though, if he still has a bunch of quests in his log, or he should check if it's in completed. It might not be mutamix btw who gives that quests, could be one of the guys next to him, he should just do whatever he can do there. Request Meld should be in the list after that. I've had a few people with the same issue back in 2.0 when I was doing relic melds in town, and all of them got it fixed by simply going there, making sure they had done the quests then coming back.

I don't remember them really other than the Ultros one that I just did the other day and it was horribly annoying with it's insta-fail conditions. Took me literally 70 minutes in DF to find a party for it (I posted a screen shot a few pages ago) and after 3 wipes people wanted to abandon. Luckily we overruled the whiners and beat it again, but I will never do that fight again unless I'm unlucky enough to draw it in a roulette or a friend needs help with it.
I haven't been 50 that long. I haven't done a lot of the hardest 50 content like EX Primals and stuff. I imagine that these types of mechanics are commonplace in the end game, but it's really frustrating as a DPS to wait in a queue for that long and then have a fight that a bunch of random DF people have no clue how to beat. You end up banging your head against it for an hour or more and there's no guarantee that you'll win. The one time I tried Garuda EX this happened. The tanks couldn't figure out the swap mechanic and after 5 wipes we just quit. All that work for nothing. Between stuff like that and getting harassed for being a LOLDRG I'm starting to get really jaded on the end game content in this game.

PFs usually have a better time than DFs, but yea with the hildebrand stuff I guess if the cutscenes aren't your thing and the fights don't satisfy you can't say much to sway you. You can always ask on help night if tomo is still doing them for help on ex primals.
You people acting like I just walked in the room and kicked a dog. I don't like anime and Japanese weirdness. I tried to watch a couple where he was a zombie or something and all the slapstick nonsense just wasn't for me.
Trying to get a clear in DF for a tough fight is always going to be a struggle. You'll have better luck in party finder or getting help from FC/LS mates. The talent pool out there in a typical DF group is not very good, and people are quick to quit if it doesn't go well right away. When it comes to MMO endgame content, the faster you get friends who know what they are doing the better off you will be. Trying to muscle your way through with randoms is an exercise in frustration.
As for the lol drg stuff, I've never heard anyone say that stuff seriously, always in a joking manner. If anyone seriously gives you problems over it then blist and move on, idiots are not worth your time.

The Ore is on Timed Nodes, only so much will be gathered per hour. Someone will buy out all the materials just to shut-out other top crafters. It's happened before, so I prepared
I miss GAF, but there were so many crafters at the start that if anyone needed a meld, 5 people would respond before I could even bring up the PS3 on-screen keyboard lol
He's definitely playing the wrong game. If you want serious grim dark fantasy 100% of the time you'll have to look elsewhere, I'm afraid.

But in that case wouldn't you want more than 99? 99 Gold Ore is basically nothing, it's 33 nuggets only. And unless it's some weird stuff, it'd probably be just as efficient to stack 3-4times the amount in NQs, since everyone can HQ nuggets anyway. It's also 25 per node(if you use the +2 per gather skill), so it's hard to shut down gold ores.
But I guess the whole airship/aetherwheel stuff might require weird stuff so maybe.

Well the issue will come up again when I need to transfer my character to another server that my friend is on. I really would rather not start over since I had like 4 lvl50 battle classes and 1 crafter 50 as well.

Generally speaking, loldrg stuff is rare and mostly an old joke. Just to be "that guy" I guess, if it's being seriously thrown at you a lot, you may actually be doing something wrong.
You are thinking in terms of Nuggets, I'm anticipating massive amounts of raw materials for hulls and engines. HQ materials are quite easy to shut-down on day 1 or anything that is unexpected. I've gone through the initial rush a few times now, trying to cover all bases
Well you're right, Ultros is probably awful in DF. Honestly for high end content, outside of a few fights DF is a huge gamble. You'll have much more luck looking for PF (or even putting up your own, for ex fight people will gladly help you for the sold bonus you bring), and people are a lot more willing to communicate in those.
Best case scenario is doing it with your FC of course.
I honestly think you're either the unluckiest drg in the game or there's something wrong with the way you play if you get harrassed for being a loldrg. I've done pugs with a ton of drg and there has never been a single remark done to them. I've seen more jokes about BRDs than DRGs at this point.
I have 10 Sealants stocked and almost 2 stacks of Oaknots, if they lower the Oaknot trade-in value I can get more than if I trade them in now. They are not going to raise the value it will either stay the same or be lowered. Playing it safe

I converted around 10 Sealants and stuck them at a price I felt comfortable with on the market (basically the 300k range) and I'm going to stock close to another stack for the patch. We'll see~
Well, it can't be worse than the DRG who I played with earlier today. Qarn (Normal): the DRG has no accessories equipped, doesn't combo, gets hit by all AoE attacks (and died from the Doom effect of the first boss, and refused to get up when the Scholar attempted to raise him), and attacked the main body of the second boss instead of its heart first (in fact, he wasted the LB on the main body while the heart was still up... I was like D:* ). And he kept saying damn and fuck. The worst part? The guy already had a level 50 arcanist, so he should know how to play a little... but no. I think he may have bought his account, because he was just that terrible.
The amount of terrible ACN player I've seen is pretty high actually. Like SMN only using one of their bios (either I or II I've seen both case), not using aetherflow at all, or not using fester.
I've tried asking one of them why he wasn't using all his abilities and he didn't even answer.
Then again you can live with a bad dps in a dungeon, it's harder if it's the tank that's terrible :/
Edit: And I still can't log in, I get to the loading screen after character select then I just get "Connection with the server was lost". I just wanted to do my exdr
