I can see why they didn't show the head piece for the new dungeon tank set, it's kinda goofy looking. XD

Aaaaanyhow, I'm thinking I'll probably do World of Darkness first this time. I usually do the dungeons, but I don't really need Soldiery right now, and Main Tomes always fill up naturally on their own during patch weeks, so there's no need for me to rush to open Expert Roulette back up. Conversely, regardless of whether the upgrade items are available yet, I can use armor from WoD.

Then, Odin, since that doesn't look to be attached to the main storyline this time, shouldn't take long to unlock it. Though, granted, while I expect I'll be able to power through HM with pugs just fine, I'll probably wait for a GAF party or whatnot before trying the Extreme version.

Then I'll do the main story and Hildibrand in that order.

Anybody have a different battleplan for tackling the content?

I think they changed it recently to where you could didn't they? Or was that feeding them Thavarian Onions...?

You need a stable, but if your FC has a house and a stable you can use theirs.

Try checking the chocobokeeps in the cities to see if they have the option of helping you dye a chocobo without using a Housing stable. I'm not sure if it's been patched in yet, but it was definitely mentioned sometime ago that players would be able to dye their chocobos without using an FC/Personal Housing stable.

If they do, here's the crash course:

Thanks! I'll check into it. :)

I was just looking at the upcoming stuff while leveling Rogue and I noticed some abilities require Hide to be active. Does it become possible later to use Hide in combat or will Sneak/Trick attack only be used once per battle? That seems a bit silly to take up two abilities when you can only use them once per fight.

Suiton.

Ask your parents what that is when you're older.

I thought it was to keep the Expert Roulette equal? Like, all the same content level, all the same drops, all the same tome rewards, etc. so you don't really get unlucky with your EXDR being worse than others outside of dungeon preference.

Well, part of the issue here, in my mind, is that they raised the ilvl requirement so slowly, that it was only patch 2.3 that it felt like you needed semi-current gear to plow through dungeons somewhat comfortably, and even the 2.3 dungeons could be plowed through once people hit 110.

Satasha, Qarn, and Snowcloak, honestly can be a bit much for a party of players significantly below ilvl110. As such, I'd keep them in the Expert roulette, since I'd think that'd reduce the number of undergeared players queuing up for them.

But again, that's just me, and it's not a big deal really.

"Goofing off" is people on alt classes they don't know how to play and trying to do content that actually sort of needs them to know what they're doing, not like ... forgetting to do a mechanic or something.

This is 100% a tangent but it's something I've been wondering a lot lately: Short of taking them in to content where it matters, how are you supposed to learn how to alt class anyway? Particularly if the alt class isn't DPS?

Leveling content is easy and most of the older non-mattering stuff is outgeared to the point of faceroll, so how do you learn to alt class short of wading in over your head and seeing if you figure out how to swim? There's always DF but then you're fighting so many other factors (tornado tanks, other similarly clueless people, whatever) I'm not sure how you're supposed to figure out how to play a class properly. at least on the first class content is still kind of tricky while you're gearing up.

You give the 2.3 dungeons too much credit. I did the 2.3 dungeons on patch day with you and Korra and we facerolled all of it outside of, like, the SV HM cannons. I think I still had myth gear at the time. We didn't even figure out the bubbles for the Hullbreaker worm, Korra just healed through it.

Has Yoshi ever stated why you can't group up for Low Level Duty Roulette? It feels like a huge oversight. =(

They want Low Level roulette to be for helping speed up DF queues for new players (not that it works am I rite?), so if higher levels grouped up to do them on their alt jobs it would kind of defeat the purpose.

Throw them into T9.

Hm. Probably the same content I'm complaining about, really. I think most of it comes down to things like people joining farm groups with no idea what's going on or these end-of-the-week T10+ clears that are done with like 4 hours of time to spend so we can't "waste time" with people who don't know the fight.

Like, the complaint would be a lot different if it was learning groups or a group to help someone get a clear for, say, Shiva EX vs farming it. Or if T10+ on like Friday night and not Monday 11 PM CST.

Edit: Basically, a lot of it comes down to the context.

Yes, good players could plow through it on day one. However, keep in mind that I'm one of those guys that'll usually just solo-queue for these things. In my defense, even with PUG gamble, it's usually faster then trying to get three other people together.

First few weeks of the 2.3 dungeons were, PAAAAINFUL when you just DFed it. Most DF groups eventually figured it out, and it got a lot less painful, but it took awhile.

As for the 2.4 dungeons, it feels like most DF groups are still muddling their way through Satasha, and the mummy mechanic still gets people very frequently in Qarn.

PS: French Pass Notes forgot to omit the name of the mystery trial. The Mystery Trial name, in french is, La Chrysalide.

Dungeons suck. Item/gear rewards aren't worth the time. You barely learn anything to improve your gameplay. I managed to get by a whole patch cycle (2.3) without doing dungeons. I only started doing dungeons again for the daily alexandrites. Unless I want to collect alexandrites for my PLD relic, the only reason for me to do dungeons in the near future is for the dungeon atma. I can cap poetics from doing Final Coil and PvP.

That T6 wreck last night.

I wish I could record a ghost to play for me in EXDR like they have in Forza Motorsport. The only time it's ever exciting is when someone wipes because they don't know the mechanics.

Yeeeeaaaah, the rewards from dungeons really aren't good enough. Even with Tomes, it's only barely worth it if you're going in on a roulette.

I partly blame all the mat drops, there really is just no point to those, since you can trade in armor for GC seals and specifically buy the ones that're actually worth money. Even with mat drops taken out, it still wouldn't be enough of a reward. Maybe if they made the minion drops ever so slightly more common. *shrug*

As is I do them because the occasional dungeon is fun for me. Though I really don't like Satasha. :p

Fuck all this dungeon whining, this is more interesting. A chrysalide is apparently a cocoon; specifically for a moth or a butterfly. Wild speculation go go go go go.

All the speculation and translations on Reddit makes it sound like, "The Void Worm," to me.

So, probably another HM level Monster trial fight akin the Chimera or Hydra, only it's probably related to the main story quest.

I'm trying to do my relic reborn quest. I'm at the point where I need aluminia salt from the Chimera. Is it a 100% drop from the duty finder battle?

yes for the initial relic quest, there's no worrying about drop rates for the stuff you have to do. Chimera, Hydra, Hard Primals, you just have to do the battle and you automatically proceed to the next step.

I want it to be
Lahabrea's
bitch ass again. They make him seem so all powerful in cutscenes and his only real gameplay showing isn't even seen by most players because it's dead by the time they get out of the preceding cutscene.

At some point we are supposed to have
a weapon to eliminate an Ascian
. Wonder when that is going to happen and which
Ascian
it will be.

Is there a nice current guide on Frontlines and how it works? Particularly a job by job analysis would be cool. I really like PVP and I've been playing a little of FL, and it seems enjoyable. Not as much of a mess as typical WvWvW pvp.

I suppose this is all moot though cause they're changing it next patch yeah?
