On Frontlines.

The main goal is to control territory, the nodes in the middle give good bonus points, but they won't do crappie if your side cannot hold territory.

So.

1: Move in groups.
2: Don't leave bases entirely undefended. At least leave one person to patrol the general area.
3: dont get caught up capturin a specific base. Go around and find a less protected base if you need to.
4: Don't argue or complain, that just makes people stop trying entirely.
5: if you're on node duty, do not linget in the middle longer than necessary.

On PC: Am I missing some obvious way to reconfigure gamepad controls? I'm looking to remove the binding for right bumper to cycle thru your hotbars but have it still select them when held down. I keep accidentally changing my hotbar when trying to change targets.

There's a bunch of gamepad options. Some are in Character Settings > Hotbar Settings > Cross Bar settings, some are in System Settings > Gamepad > Button Configuration(lets you rebind stuff) and you can also use the Keybinding menu to assign specific action buttons. Not sure what you're trying to do though as I don't play with a pad much and I have most of the stuff bound differently.

omg so, so, so true. I effing hate that this happens every.single.time for us. We got the first points flawlessly then everyone runs off to whatever point for whatever reason..I might stay behind and ask a dps to stay with me but we will of course get steam rolled and the rest of the group is at the points the other two alliance groups are supposed to control..

I blame pvp-dps-kiddies who think it's all about picking off single targets and get as many single target kills as possible. Yeah, looking at you NINs..

I wasn't talking about finishing the raid for the first time and then being done with it till the expac. I was talking about groups getting a clear in general, whether they continue to do it or not after that. Fcob will not be cleared by a large amount of people by any means, and it's safe to assume that most of the groups at this point, that will have clears before the expac, have already done so.

I don't know how true this is. I can't speak for everyone, obviously, but I don't think it's unlikely that some groups on 12 or that have cleared 12 won't have 13 cleared at least once before the expac comes out. I know of at least 3-4+ groups that are on 12 or have cleared 12 that will get a 13 kill relatively soon. I would wager it's safer to say that most of the groups currently progressing in Final Coil will likely have a 13 clear before expac, especially if it isn't for another 3 months or so.

My opinion is that people who are currently in progression raiding will all be able to keep pace within reason of each other. There will still be an absurdly small proportion of people clearing Final Coil, but it'll be the same if not slightly less (because of quitting/etc) than those who cleared Second.

To be fair, that'll be somewhat more acceptable in the upcoming slaughter mode. However, I suspect that it'll still be unwise to go off on your own entirely, since you'll lose whatever support you might have, and will be easy pickings if you run into a larger force.

How do you shout the position and area of a notorious hunt? Is it a macro?

You can make a macro yes but if you type <pos> in chat it will show your position, <t> name of your current target. You can use those in macro too. If you want to relay the position of the marker you've just clicked on, you can use <flag>

I finally saw a T10 party which I felt I could join in the PF. After 70 minutes we didn't clear it, but most of the wipes were at 20-35%, which didn't feel to bad for my first try.
Now that I know how the fight works I can at least try it with parties which don't require a clear but want you to know all the phases.

Ok this helped a bit. I wasn't able to un-bind the function I don't like but I was able to swap it to a different button which more or less does what I wanted in that I shouldn't accidentally swap hotkey sets in the middle of battle anymore. Thanks.

Pretty much this.

T10 is a slow build to that last phase, which is where all the magic happens. Honestly, the only tricky part of the fight before the last phase is like the second add phase, and that's really not too bad.

Since I've had an argument about this, can someone tell me if you actually need to kill Leviathan EX in order to be able to fight Ramuh EX then Shiva EX? Because as far as I know you don't need Leviathan, and the progression is Mog > Ramuh > Shiva (though that is possible only since a patch). Was I mistaken?

Well, I guess I was wrong about the pre-requisites for Ramuh. I will have to apologize later.

Best primal music? More like bestest.

Speaking of FFXIV musics, I stumbled upon Huskythegeek's youtube channel, in which he plays rock versions of several FFXIV songs (among others). And he is awesome :

I am actually very interested about frontlines slaughter. I wasn't too much into wolves den or original frontlines, but I might give this one a shot.

you can dye your chocobo by feeding it a combination of fruits. I believe the color website/calculator was posted a couple pages back

Yep his renditions are great infact his versions are much better than the rock part of From Astral To Umbral OST which imo were not very good at all.

Yeah wth Soken. Oblivion was just like normal one except with worse mixing.

So what kind of mindset do you have to have to be a raid leader? I'm tired of being jerked around by potential statics, which just fall apart because people are being flaky. Either that or they ask me to come as a certain job, I spend poetics on it and nothing comes of it...

The biggest thing is, you have to actually care about getting in there and talking with your group to make sure they're up to date on how things are going with getting everyone together. If all you keep hearing is "yeah we'll get in there someday or certain people aren't around enough to schedule anything" then chances are the group will fall apart before even leaving the gate. If people show that they cba to even update the leader about their status or even that the leader doesn't care to update everyone else(sounds like someone familiar in GAF), then said person likely isn't cut out for a group that wants to get shit done.

This is also mainly for statics that are mainly random people, not people who know each other in a fc.

Maybe I didn't read clearly, but did the Slaughter rules say we would still be divided by nation?

Yep, they still want to try and keep telling people that gcs have significance at this point, rather than just scrap them and rework them for the expac.

You have to have a lot of time and be willing to listen to people whining about the most stupid things and bickering with each other(through you). Or at least that's my experience back in my wow days. It was terrible and I wouldn't wish it on anyone.

But really it depends on the people you get in your static and how they each approach the game and their goals and expectations. You probably want to make sure everyone has the same goals, if you want to do a high performance progress group, then everyone needs to be in that mindset when you recruit them, if you want to be a group of guys just having fun while killing monsters and going your own pace, then you want to recruit people that think like that. The 2 mix fairly poorly. And you have to accept that people will leave randomly without saying anything, for no specific reason.

Honestly, all the more long lasting/successful raid groups I've been apart of in MMOs haven't had much in way of a hard leader role. Very democratic I guess you could say? It always seems to work better when everyone has a voice. The ones with a leader handling everything often produced some bad elements; lazy members, drama (between both leader and also other members who use leader as proxy), rotating members because people didn't like dealing with previous elements. If everyone involved is invested they are more willing to stick around too. Finding/creating such a group is easier said than done of course.

In your case tigerkiddo I'd pick a job (or multiple if they share gear) and search for groups based on that. Being continuously behind in gear because you keep switching won't help your case, especially when most groups looking for members at this point in patch cycle expect a certain ilevel.

Yep, they still want to try and keep telling people that gcs have significance at this point, rather than just scrap them and rework them for the expac.
With the whole founding of a 4th company plot line I was hoping this is what they were moving towards.

Trying to make a static from scratch is hard too. Honestly I'd just pug with PF weekly until you come across an opening in a good static. I had to pug weekly for a lot of SCOB cycle and the new perspective on stuff is refreshing?

Guess I will just have to live the pug life until something comes up. Had been focusing in on Scholar in the meantime. I don't honestly think I have the time or the mental/physical energy to deal with forming a group and trying to help maintain it...

I just resubbed to this today after a super long break.

I played for a few months when Realm Reborn launched, then dropped my sub because of free time issues. Now I'm looking to hopefully get back in, but man I'm so far behind. I only made it to level 30 on a dragoon initially, but these ninja's are so cool I decided to start back over as a rogue. Hopefully I can make it to 50 pretty quick because reading about the end game and it sounds awesome.

Just want to know if there's a way to make the game on pc with the DS4 control exactly like the PS4? As in clicking the touchpad for cycling through the UI.

Can you remap the touchpad outside the game? Try number pad 9 & 7 1 and go to keybind and set another number for HUD cycle back.

As far as I can tell, being a raid leader means that the star next to my name in my coil group LS is gold. There aren't any other particular things which I seem to do as the leader of my coil group besides make clear videos with animu music and I haven't even done that since our T5 clear. Well I guess I made a logo for us, that was a whole 30 minutes of hard work.

Kenai is the Roe. Therefore he is automatically the leader of your group. Silly Illy.
