Is there a nice current guide on Frontlines and how it works? Particularly a job by job analysis would be cool. I really like PVP and I've been playing a little of FL, and it seems enjoyable. Not as much of a mess as typical WvWvW pvp.

I suppose this is all moot though cause they're changing it next patch yeah?

Not changing it, just adding a second game mode. I'm not well suited enough to answer the rest of this question.

In the same fleeting moment Yoshida tried to dodge accusations of making an online casino

I can't wait to see /random casinos return as people shout losses.
Yoshida knows not what he has done.

...Or does he?

Personally, I love /random in other MMO's, since it allows me to get rid of my low rolls saving only the high ones for when loot drops.

I know, it doesn't actually work, but it makes me feel as though it might.

Here is a reddit thread with general tips for Frontlines from a few days ago:
http://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comments/2s5e0n/24_frontline_pvp_tips/

I can't give a personal, more detailed breakdown at the moment.

As a Flames I can confirm 1 & 6.
If you want to win, don't be Flames!
Even the official art confirms this notion.

Look at that overwhelmed group of Flames. That's us every fight.

You guys think this will be a bannable offense? It's always pretty random with different MMOs but I had a lot of fun running an honest one when I used to play Rift.

Wasn't in 1.0 but then again I got hit with prison more times than I'm sure an ARR player would be able to now. I don't think anything was bannable back then considering how few of us there were... who knows. We'll see.

Shit, so I have to ensure I get my zodiac item from 4 of my remaining 7 dungeons before Monday otherwise I don't get the overgear benefit since they are adding the i110 item level cap back to those dungeons.

EDIT - Also I've won quite a bit as Flames. I think all the Maelstrom and Adder people got their rank ups due to all the winning and stopped playing Frontlines. So now it's Flames quite often winning.

Oh no, those dungeons will take 15.5 minutes instead of 15 flat.

And yet, I still have to wait for cds on a full group wipe in a trial or coil turn. Game sucks.

Divine punishment for a wipe.

One step closer to common sense no cooldowns after changing period.

Yeah that's still weird. I don't know why things have such different cooldown times when switching jobs as well. Like why can you change Monk fist stances after 2 seconds but everything else is on the normal really long cooldown? Even my relink hunt macro has a long cooldown (._. )

This is cool too

I'd like a better indicator of hate than just a glowing shape. An actual bar would be best.
But it's definitely a step up. Baby steps, baby steps.

Well there is the party list one but that doesn't show unless you attack an enemy right? Not useful for healers?

The added circle isn't a hate indicator, it's just the enemy marker you can place showing in the mob list now, unless I'm missing something? No baby steps this patch, just the same ol colored shapes.

It's annoying when soft-target cycling while tanking, because the bars don't change. So unless you hard target swap you never see the differing levels of hate. And I am so lazy I like resetting to primary target after every button.

Seriously.

I can understand them not allowing CD's to be refreshed after a single death/revive [since that would upset the balance of the fight], but there's really no reason not to reset them after a full wipe. All it does is save people a lot of time waiting for them to come back up, especially when attempting to push through new content.

Maybe one day...

That wasn't a big issue before usually because you would have to wait for the healer to cast stoneskin on 10 people (sch pet and garuda), so most timers were done by then.

Now with stoneskin 2, it's an issue.

Oh hey Dark's in there. He cleared T9 like last week.

TOMO DARK IS NOW THE MOST PRO ONE IN YOUR STATIC.

(Also congrats)

Dat superior Ultros player base.

I was gonna make a joke about how this just proves how easy it is for a bard to get carried but honestly it's good, we need people getting as much experience as they can.

Also I'm not gonna be around tonight, the rest of you make sure help night gets fired up.

Nah, it was still an issue, we just weren't doing content that we were properly geared for so none of us cared to tell you to wait.

At IL 93 right now ... should I even bother trying to gear grind up to 100+ or should I just level other classes and wait for the Expansion to work towards 60 (which I'm sure will have gear that dwarfs the 50s)?

I'm a tank and I haven't played in sometime ... it's a pain in the ass running DNGs and such when everyone out gears you and rips aggro so hard that it gives you flash back of leveling with DF runs >_>

Might as well, it's pretty easy to catch up. This upcoming patch is more of a catch up patch.

If anything I bet the final story patch will add in the poetic gear upgrade stuff into world of darkness

Really no reason for them to do this if the expac really is supposed to come out within 2 months or so of 2.55. Holding off on giving people the biggest catch up items so they can potentially finish Coil before the expac isn't exactly doing much good when still barely anyone has finished it at this point.

The handful of whiners will still whine whether the add them in this patch or even the day before the expac launches because they feel their leet dyed/upgraded gear gives them significance as long as they have them and the plebs don't. While in reality, the majority of people who will finish it, already have, and the rest just need that extra boost that WoD 120 gear may or may not give them.

This isn't true at all. Groups will continue to consistently get their full clear all the way up until the days before the expac drops.

I wasn't talking about finishing the raid for the first time and then being done with it till the expac. I was talking about groups getting a clear in general, whether they continue to do it or not after that. Fcob will not be cleared by a large amount of people by any means, and it's safe to assume that most of the groups at this point, that will have clears before the expac, have already done so.

I've seen enough endgame(endgame as in hardest difficulty of the final raid) raids in mmos at this point to know that without any major nerfs, most kills are done within the first few months of said raid being out, gear only pushes so many more to finishing it(unless there's an upgrade system like in WoW MoP where gear gets vastly better than it was before upgrades).

Bah, I meant to say first clear not full clear. I'm going to have to disagree with you. We only have about half, probably less, of the total people that will end up clearing T13 before expac comes out. Definitely not "safe" to assume what you are saying at all. There was a huge surge of groups clearing T9 for the first time the weekend before 2.4 came out.

Fully expect the same thing to happen right before expansion.

6 GAF groups cleared Second Coil the weekend before the patch

Raiding with a new member tonight. I hope she does ok but we're really gonna miss our old black mage's dps.

Oh well, killing T12 will have to wait for a few more weeks.
