I have successfully desynthed 11 of these bastards so far and nothing to show for it but a handful of sand. And yet I keep trying.

Cat Became Hungry was claiming a 25% success rate on desynth; after my 6 or 7 straight failures I thought it seemed wrong but now I'm averaging out. RNG gonna RNG.

What confuses me is the lack of these on the MB. There are like 2 on there. The gathering threshold is fairly low, the weather/time window is pretty generous, and it's a pretty simple double mooch. Barring your horrible desynth luck, it seems like a market people should be flooding. There just must not be many people fishing? I wonder if that means there are undiscovered desynths. :/

Also there's apparently a fish that requires 403 gathering?!? HOW.

I think generally people wanting specific pieces (bikinis) would learn the exact things it comes from, but won't do much beyond that because they're not particularly inclined to exert efforts on other things.

It's also possible that datamined info gives this much information about what you get from fish desynth, so as a result nobody has to experiment much.

Can I be first in line when you manage to get a Fat Cat minion?

I didn't really think about data mining; the minion mostly surprises me because it's comparatively easy money and an untapped market. I'd expect all the poor bastards trying to sell Ti Leaf Leis for pocket change to have moved to this, because it's just a way easier catch for higher profits.

It'll be depressing if data mining confirms no other good desynths. This is a one-star catch for this patch; four stars ought to reward something aside from teleport tickets and bait (if you have 403 gathering!!! 403!!! I can only do that if I get the new rod or have the FC buff and pop food; people not blowing their savings on gear are totally boned.)

Can I be first in line when you manage to get a Fat Cat minion?

Isn't that a fishing retainer thing? I really should level one up since I have all this melded out gear sitting around; not sure with the FC3 market crash if it makes more sense to just fish up more Olgois for a second supra or if I should just push to ironworks.

RIP all my allied seals, going to purchase ventures for leveling.

Best way I've seen is level leatherworker desynth and play either a Ninja or Monk so you can roll need on the belt that drops for them. Likely not getting it any other way since people need it just to trade it in most of the time, but it has a chance for multiple leather.

Not anymore. They "fixed" it, so no tassets are leatherworking desynth. The only ones left are the healing gloves in turn 1, or the healing/casting boots and casting gloves in turn 2. No one runs these like they do T4, so I'd imagine the leather prices will increase a wee bit.

Completed Shiva HM, was my 1st time and the Tanks were giving instructions for EX we wiped plenty!

Where is the best place to Spiritbond ilv 90 Crafted Gear? Converted my old set and got 2x Savage Might IV, 2x Savage Aim IV, Heaven's Eye IV and a Dexterity III.

Stone Vigil HM?

That bane trick allowed the only group to have cleared 12 on Ultros to do so so quickly. Yoshida crushing SMN dreams.

I'll never know what 5000+ DPS is like now

I'd imagine Sastasha HM is the fastest. So many adds in various locations that you'd end up amassing tons of SB% quickly.

Wait what, was that part of the patch last night? That's messed up.

Naruto is the worst ninja.
Yet still got best girl.

I'm Sasuke. How dare you. Felix is the number one knucklehead ninja.
You got the raw end of that arrangement.

Maybe I should transfer to a JP server. Find my people, teach them about face art.

Find out why they appear to be fishing for silver sovs when they all already have supras. What do they know.

Some English player posted a picture of their i80 fishing rod on the official forums. Get on his/her level, Angary. My teachings have gone to waste.

We really missed the boat on that OT title & Naruto, I blame tigerkiddo
Also sealants are still suffering.

I'm 1/2 way on fishing, so far it's been the most relaxing thing I've done in the entire game.
My FC tells me I don't even know true suffering yet though.

Fishing is honestly pretty laid back most of the time. Only sovs, Olgois, and frilled shark have really made me rage.

Unfortunately, two of those are essentially mandatory fishing.

Looking at all the requirements for what I'm missing I'm starting to worry that a week isn't enough time, since there are those spans of time when the in-game weather is just shit for days.

I may have failed you, I'm sorry.

You can still resub. Do it, you know you want it.
The stable roof will be lonely without you.

Fuck Sastasha HM.

The only way they could make it worse is if the end boss led into a double-feature dungeon into Aurum Vale Hard Mode.

Not surprised this got fixed, but it's sort of unfair for all the groups who weren't able to take advantage of it. We'll probably have enough DPS next week to still get to the next phase with 4 Bennus.

It's "unfair" to the rest of the groups that anyone before them takes advantage of an obvious encounter error that results in them having an easier time with said encounter before the fix. It's unfortunate that the error went through on live servers and that people made use of it to get their kill. It's just one of the many major flaws in them not having public testing though due to story spoilers, things slip by that could be major issues soon after the patch comes out.

Not really, "Story reasons," the developers addressed story issues in the Beta, by simply black-screening important story cutscenes.

My guess is that it's more a resources issue. Setting up a test server, and an additional version of the game every time there's a major patch, would likely take more resources than their budget allows.

I don't think their raids are big enough for a Test Server - they'd get entirely cleared before the patch was out unless they were extremely overtuned.

My hope for Heavensward is that the raid encounter per tier is simply expanded - this allows them to add more gear checks and requires a more diverse set of mechanics to pull from.

Honestly, considering the mechanic involved and how DoTs / Bane work to begin with, I'm kind of wondering how that wasn't "caught" in internal testing. Like, it's the most obvious thing to refresh DoTs on that Vuln Down and to use it as a Bane target.

then again, considering caster itemization, maybe they just don't have a Summoner.

Their internal test group probably just stacks monks instead (or uses a Ninja now?) :p

Blind Shiva EX was probably the most interesting fight I've done in ages because it was less about whether or not you could follow the preset script and dance and more about figuring out what the fuck was going on.

PTR would mean everyone expected to know everything the second the servers went live, and no more absolute confusion. I'm still pissed that waiting 8 hours to take on Ultros meant somebody explaining the whole fight. I understand the QA justification for PTR still kind of prefer content be surprising. Also it let Titan Egi be useful that one time.

Likely because Summoners are a forgotten class to them and that also explains why they get gimped for gear this tier also.

I'm hoping Heavensward has some slightly meatier raids as well.

Also, Token system, and maybe, slightly larger party sizes for raids, maybe.

Just did an ST where I MT'd most all fights. One teams Tank... the rest of his team died mostly during each fight, the other teams Warrior didn't start the fights but would then try to provoke the boss off whoever the tank was (me included). Oh and we had a Dragoon who kept starting each fight, regardless of if people were there or not.

Didn't do too badly though, just died once in the first fight because I forgot to use a CD after noticing that Team A was dead apart from the tank (and just before daybreak near the end haha).

I also for once was able to use holmgang to save me. Ended up with 2hp just as it wore off and one healer got me up just then.

Feeling a little more confident with tanking now.

Does that even work? Provoke puts you 1 enmity above everyone in your party. I don't think it works Alliance wide. That's why you usually can't steal hate on a hunt, which was a thing when people were trying to reset them in the beginning.

I'm always the MT on ST because I pop STR accessories for the boss fights, while I keep VIT for the mobs (since I spam hate on everything, without the extra VIT I could die). I've probably forgotten all the mechanics by now, but I like working on my WAR rotation rather than worry about lame mechanics. I feel I've improved more that way.

Also finally got my Rogue to 30 last night. Didn't have time to do the NIN quest but I'll get to it tonight. Can't wait!

Definitely. Coming back from Wildstar, the one thing I felt it did right was have a shit ton of bosses & minibosses with interesting mechanics, loot upgrades, and the occasional cosmetic item. Even the trash pulls needed more coordination than 'tank and spank' to take down.

I would like to see raids be more than just simple turns, at least. If we're going to stick with static groups and full-on lockouts, at least make use of it and have dungeons closer to either Dynamis in FFXI or something such as Castrum/Praetorium (without the cutscenes) in length and scope.

While it was annoying in some respects, I think Turn 1 was one of the best designed turns of Coil. That doesn't mean, "every," Turn/Level/Raid dungeon should be like that of course. It makes sense to have at least a few where you can run in and almost immediately fight the boss for loot.

However, Turn 1 (and Turn 3 I guess,) had the effect of making all of First Coil, feel larger.

For all of Second Coil's mechanic checks, it feels a bit smaller in size/scope.

Provoke gives you +1 Enmity over the current highest. Party, Alliance, just randomly next to you, etc. are all the exact same.

Provoke does nothing on hunts because they actively resist Provoke.

*Nods* Provoke is what I'd call, "an essential niche," it'd be several times more difficult to regularly do tank swap mechanics without it. Heck, even with it, it can be difficult if the other tank doesn't have a macro to announce it's use. (So many tanks do, that I'm conditioned to look for them by this point.)

Only other use for Provoke is for long distance pulls, seeing as the range on it is amazing.
