Reading into all the weapon stuff, post atma. Lol, now that's FFXI content, reborn.

FFXI relic pre-75 uncap required an entire linkshell (FC) to farm dynamis currency for a single member (usually leader, main BRD (Gallajhorn), or main PLD (Aegis)). This was a linkshell wide raid that would take close to 2hrs and would be run 2-3 times a week. It would take months and months to get enough currency for a single relic.

A little different. I would say it's more like levelling from 60 to 70 or something in FF11. Mindless grind.

I took more time getting some AF gear the first time in XI than I have with my entire zodiac relics. On the whole XIV's shitty RNG/time wasting is a pale shadow of XI's massive black hole of time wasting. The fact that I was in high school and could do whatever the fuck was the only reason I got so far at the time.

Heh, the pants dropped for us on our first T12 clear. Incidentally enough that's pretty much the only Dreadwyrm gear our bard has gotten.

That's one of the few pieces BRD need though. Trying to convince Skoje to give up on them dropping and get his i110 crafted pants. That's how you unlock them to drop :)

I gave up on my T12 pants dropping and wasted a twine on the augmented pants.

Look at those cards at the right. LOOK AT THEM. Who the hell do they think they are with that shit. Out of those 5 the Minfilia card is the best? Fuck outta here with that.

Edit: Also I see a Godberg card, if he isn't a 5 star all 9s then I'll flip a table.

Get ready to flip a table. Having a card with all 9s would be terrible. The numbers on the Scion cards give me hope that they put a decent amount of thought into the meta. I will have to start building a home on the bottom-left corner of my triple triad matches for Minfilia since that is where she will be going most of the time unless SAME and/or PLUS rules are in play.

Nah, I agree that it would be silly to have an all 9 and it does look like they put thought into those cards.

*knocks over magazine rack anyway*

Quick question. Should I be clipping DoTs on SMN or no? I've gotten 2 different answers so far. One stance is to clip them because of the server tick time thing. You'll never know when it falls off between 0.1-3s, so clip between that time. The other answer was to let them fall off because Ruin potency is higher than the DoTs and it was basically for the same reason.

So which is the correct answer? I've been doing a little of both depending whether or not boss mechanics are a thing.

Also whats the best effective usage for Bane when I've exceeded the maximum number of targets and there's still more enemies left? Should I just run the gambit on something else and hit Bane again?

Just got to SMN Lv.32 last night and I'm trying to maximize my damage. Apparently Bane and the soul stone were a partial answers to some of my woes. Although I still haven't quite figured out pet micromanagement-not that there's a pressing need to at this level. My general thinking right now is to just steer the course and equip pet abilities to my main cross hot bar and just say fuck it to the whole pet cross hot bar. It's just too clunky and too inconvenient to swap to mid fight and feel like I'm slowing down my reaction time if I do.

Stop giving out strats, Jayhawk. Save em for Tuesday.

I hope that Titan has a super strong up game so that all overdwellers bow down.

Yes you should put pet abilities on your main hotbar. For Garuda SMN you only really need Contagion. For pets in general you want place, obey, and for dungeons, heel, so they don't stand around and die when you move out of range.

Reapply Bio2 and Miasma at <3s (aka, cast at ~3s remaining), Bio around the 1s mark. You're basically aiming to clip them before the next server tick and hopefully without missing the last tick of their duration. Err on the side of 100% uptime, however, if you have to.

Also worth noting, Bio 2 -> Miasma -> Bio should be your DoT cast rotation on the opener, though you should reapply as they're falling off and not waiting to re-do the opener again.

DoT and then Bane one side of the pack, DoT and Bane the other side of the pack.

Keyboard/Mouse here but I have all the pet skills on hotkeys, though it's pretty much just for Contagion and both the Ifrit ones.

Welcome to online games with a large playerbase? I come from playing League of Legends for years so something like this is not new to me, and that game has a test server that's really popular. It is almost impossible to test content for every play style and strategy. No matter how much you test it, someone will always find a way to break it on the live servers in a way you didn't intend. Strategies will always evolve from what is a developer's intended strategy.

It's the nature of online games. People will come together in their groups and discuss ways to beat things the developers never foresaw. People will find the most optimal rotations for a class or whatever that weren't seen before, etc. etc.

Not sure why you would expect any different.
There's not being able to foresee all fight strategies, and then there is a fundamental misunderstanding of how a player would attempt to do anything period. The initial hunt mess should not have happened. Their "surprise" over how few people actually keep up with relic progress should not even be a thing with how long it takes. They recently said in an interview they didn't intend i110 crafted stuff to be so crucial to early final coil progress, and actually considered crafted gear to be there to help new players catch up. Seriously. Anyone who spends five seconds looking at the time/gil investment to get that stuff made can tell you that is a bad joke. Selling items on a cash shop that can be traded and then asking players not to sell that stuff for gil?

I don't really blame them for something like titan egi on Ramuh Ex. It's when they do stupid crap that anyone could of told them was a bad idea from the get go, without even needing to really test the content. There were also early cases like the PLD/WAR thing in 2.0 (we didn't foresee that people would actually use PLD cooldowns, and therefore PLD was stronger than anticipated was basically their excuse for that disparity) but that kind of thing has diminished.

Gotcha, I've been doing most of this but I've been unsure if this is the correct way. There's so few guides for SMN on the intarwebs, and a lot of the ones on youtube are nearly a year old.

Right now if its a single target boss fight what I usually do is have 2 aetherflow stacks right before the fight with aetherflow on cool down. Then basically I do:

Raging Strikes > Bio II > Miasma > Bio I > Energy Drain > Ruin > Energy Drain > Aetherflow > Ruin > Energy Drain > Ruin (Raging Strikes falls off here sometimes if the tank is moving him about)> Energy Drain /

By that time my DoTs will be almost ready to refresh, and I've also managed to pull hate a few times as well. As for pet abilities right now I just have Sic, Heel, Obey and that one Ifrit AoE move, and kinda just let the pet do its thing as far as attacks are concerned. I imagine Contagion will be in there somewhere as soon as I have access to it.

When you say Energy Drain, you mean Fester right?

Solo tank, solo heal T12. I can't really make it out on crappy mobile video--are they pulling this off by pushing phases so quickly there's enough space between Revelations for the debuff to fall off?
Only for the first phase (they were averaging around 3700 group dps for that part). For last they hallowed second, and then third sentinel/rampart/foresight/ald/virus/kitchen sink. Had there been a fourth he would of died, but they killed it shortly before.

I wonder what the plan was if they didn't push where they did. They were ~5 seconds or so from the next Revelation cast I think when they pushed into add phase.

Whats a good SCH DPS rotation? Lately, I've been finding myself dps-ing more than healing in the dungeons so I'm wondering what's a good rotation so I can be more effective.

Pop your three dots from longest cast to shortest, bio2-miasma-bio, Finish with aero and then bane.

Lustrate between eos heals and ruin 2s.

He'd of had most of his cooldowns still at that point I think? With how fast they were killing bennus it's not like he'd need any for the swarm phase, and he didn't use any big cooldowns for the first rev in last phase.

was the whole point of two ninjas to stack suiton? Doesn't seem any easier or better than just normal t12
I don't think this was meant to be a new normal strategy, just something they did for fun to see if it was possible.

Maybe. I thought he was missing most from taking the second Revelation (at least it was Rampart+Foresight, I think, that was mentioned).

Yeah, it was just the alt classes they had apparently.

I upvoted you.
Can you buy me a house ;)

[–]Cheshire KatCheshyreKat 5 points an hour ago*
How about this. I'll buy you the land, if you can pay for your own house. BUT you have to make it look nice. Tired of plots of land that look like something out of Alice in Wonderland. Not every house needs every expensive primal item set on display with a savage arc of triumph! Simple is good too!

CK knows what's up.

EDIT - Same how I provided a "welcome to the neighbourhood" package of dyes and outdoor furnishing to ensure a good looking area around my house.

Only issue in my neighbourhood is some people need to get rid of their event shit, valentines and christmas are over!

I'm doing alright. Everything's fine.

Did you do it through The Hunt?. IMO there is no faster way to get Alexandrites than consistently hunting and doing FATEs while pretending to look for A ranks in your zone. You're getting Soldiery and Allied Seals to purchase your Alexandrites.

Hunts on Tonberry are impossible. It mostly came from soldiery and fates.
