No, yeah, that was a jerk move to be sure but this guy seems just as bad tbh with his "I shouldn't have to" crap.
Eh. There's this fine line between being new and being clueless.
You really shouldn't have to look anything up for any non-raid-level encounters. Spoiling yourself the encounter just to save a couple of minutes for some guy?
I think the responsibility is on experienced players here. We have to realize we might get paired up with players that aren't on our level yet and it's okay because that's how the game works.

The run you spent a week going "please get me the clear my sub runs out soon and I don't want to resub just for this please please please." That's what started things, everything built off of that.

Garuda EX? I cleared that the day I unlocked it. I havent exactly been at this game long enough for that. Longest delay was 3 days on t7, and I did almost all of those in DF.

But yes, I asked way too much on garuda ex, sorry.

While I can agree, I'd rather people did know something as opposed to being totally blind at this point in the game. It's less about "content is hard, need to know it" but more "people expect certain things, I should probably know those things."

So more of a thing about knowing the metagame as it were as opposed to needing to research things due to difficulty.

I dont think most reasonable players have a problem with new players, but its something of a two way street, if the new player doesnt know the tactics they should ask.

I've decided that parry is really good on bards. Since you barely take damage, you can mitigate the damage you do take with enough stacked parry.

Also it's really good for warriors and not for paladins.

Discuss.

DEX also helps parry rates. With enough DEX, BRDs are pretty much invincible against any mobs that do not have magic attacks.

I triple Parried Earth Shakers before.

In all fairness, depending on the encounter/dungeon/whatever, you don't always have time to ask and other times they don't bother to tell you or speak at ALL even if you ask. I've seen this happen several times. Half the times in these situations, I end up trying to explain it and sometimes pre-typing boss strats because I know the tank (who is usually the experienced one, not always but mostly) is going to quickly rush into the boss when we get there.

Thanks to that most of the times, we don't wipe and if we do, we beat the fight the second time round (providing the experienced members don't rage quit because of 1 wipe >.>)

I did have one incident with one new tank and one new DPS in Ultros. Never even got the chance to ask who was new (figured it out based on what happened before the wipe) or tell them what to do.

We did win the second time though so it wasn't too bad but yeah, point is, you don't always get time to ask for strats which can cause wasted time especially on battles like Ultros which requires the DPS to not get killed and do the mechanics or else the fight resets.

Sure that definitely does happen, but I think in general you have time to ask and most people are happy to give you a basic summary

Of all the atma dungeons I've been to so far, Amdapor keep is taking by far the longest. Something like 20+ runs now. They are quick and easy so it's no biggie, but I've noticed that that dungeon in particular is a hotbed of level 50 characters that might as well be level 30 for the gear they have on heh. I wish tank queue wasn't instant cause I'd love to be able to spam this place as a high level dragoon just to make it faster.

I'll make commentary about it (in Mumble) because observations are observations and I like to share despair about AFK people. For the most part, I don't really care about how things go when it comes to random stuff.

Man, Parry has occasionally kept me up in Shiva when people go down and the healers are trying to keep the tank up.

If it didn't involve, like, infinite clicking I would make an alternate relic spec that's just piety/parry.

In newer content ie just after a patch yeah.

After anything has been out for at least a month, it's literally a crap shoot I find. Some will be patient and help, some won't. It's a lottery.

Archer tanks with defensive cross-class abilities and max DEX and parry are the future. Get those i110 rings melded with parry.

T13 DOWN!! After two 1% wipes.
Congrats to you all! d(^_^)v

Delaying the raid is good. It's more fair for people who aren't killing themselves to get to level 60 right away.
This actually works out well for me, since I'll more than likely have to order the CE from SE's online store and the "head-start" for pre-ordering [if they give us that] might run out before I actually have my copy delivered [that Canadian shipping!].

Ideally I'd love to pre-order from somewhere in Canada so I could receive it the day of release, but knowing SE this will be another store exclusive. Granted the CE of Type-o was available at retailers, but Canada got a ridiculously limited allocation. It sold out on Amazon.ca the day it became available. :/

Video of our T13 kill is up.
That was after two wipes at under 1% today, best we had until friday was around 35%.
Congrats!

Nice video.

Also, there's a little "surprise" in this link. I stumbled upon it completely by accident.

Well, [Hildebrand spoilers]
he was last seen flying through the air and, given that Heavensward has plenty of islands in the sky, it wouldn't be too much of a surprise to see him up there...

Consider myself hyped.

I fully expect him to be there. I really want that as a flying mount though.

How Yoshida basically saved FFXIV from destruction [or, more accurately, brought it back] alone warrants me utmost respect. The fact that he continues to support the game, and be as passionate about it as he is, only strengthens that feeling.

The man definitely deserves a raise.

This really resonates with me. When I was going through the game for the first time I made sure to tell everybody that this is my first time in the dungeon or trial. I never really ran into any problems and everybody was nice and explained mechanics when it was necessary.

I was running some older story dungeons books recently and it was really frustrating to see experienced players yell at new players and ragequit. It can be frustrating for me especially if I'm under a time constraint but I consider it paying my community dues to help out. If they end up sticking around they'll be the same people I'll be seeing in DF in the future.

Also I'm torn about going in blind to figure out mechanics completely green. After playing the game for almost a year patch 2.5 was the first batch of content I could run where nobody knew the strats and it was awesome. It felt so good to puzzle my way through the fights with everyone else even though it took forever. I feel bad for newer players who don't get that experience.

Castrum Meridianum and The Praetorium are two huge examples of that.

This is why I cant wait for the expansion, and a full batch of battles and dungeons no one knows.

This is interesting, didn't Dunan specifically ask for this the other day? From yoship Reddit interview:

That being said, we are considering options of a training opportunity with no rewards. For example you could focus on just turn three, phase two and work at getting better at that. There is a high chance of that being available to start practicing at the start of Heavensward.

So it looks like they might implement being able to practice specific phases of battles. That would be a godsend on those fights where I end up sleeping through the first few phases but at the same time almost makes it seem too easy.

What am I saying. This is a godsend for everyone if it happens.

Holy shit you guys, me and Relly discovered the secret to getting dungeon atma! You have to come to GAF and shitpost about not getting it then it drops on the very next run! sample size of 2/2 must be enough evidence to confirm!!!
