Take your time, don't burn yourself out. While DPS is important the jump from base Zodiac to Zeta isn't THAT significant/important.

It's incredibly important. In fact I would argue it's the most important thing in the game.

Posting bigger DEEPS. How am I going to plaster big numbers without top WD?

: Not sure if you're being serious or not. I take offense to this quite a bit, since most of the "complaining" is mostly jovial and not to be taken a hundred percent seriously. Besides, someone has to be willing to run people through harder content they would like to try and clear since some people would rather run Garuda EX for hours instead.

It's not just you. Look at the ego on this one. We talk about everyone who isn't a member of the Mumble Elite™ because they're all Second Third rate plebs and bads, obviously. Our time is obviously not spent talking about chocobos, cards, and way too much dragon ball z.

Even though you are my leader Galen, I have to say this is the answer I got from bullies that I was confronting while I was a HS teacher. "OH, I don't mean it." or "They admit they are bad (or whatever putdown) so its ok I keep on picking on them." I would have to tell them that it doesn't matter what they perceive that they are doing it in all good fun, its up to the person on the receiving end, and they may not feel comfortable enough to speak up or just want to go with the "joke". Its an extremely bad junior high/high school behavior.

I meant, that the ten ilvl difference, on a single player, probably isn't going to make much of a difference when clearing content. A whole group going from 125 to 135 weapons is huge, but a single player, not so much.

Besides, I don't want Tiggerkiddo to burn out, ya know.

Don't everyone burn out on fighting today. We have a drought of content coming soon, gotta spread this out for a few months.

Not entirely sure how "complaining about X" becomes "mocking X." We mock each other, mostly Galen (and Galen). People who aren't around a lot aren't really a subject at all unless there's a reason for it (e.g., watching a stream, running with them on something, Tuesday, etc.) and then it's entirely about whatever brought it up. Or Tuesday.

Carry runs are pretty much a lot of bemoaning people clearly there for the free ride. And then normal poking fun at wipes caused by any source (usually us, to be honest).

Don't everyone burn out on fighting today. We have a drought of content coming soon, gotta spread this out for a few months.

We can always theorycraft Even More Potent Poison Pot debates for the expansion.

Hush, we could never argue again and I'd be perfectly fine with that....

Wait, uh, lets not argue about arguing either. <_<;;

I kinda think you missed the point. It doesn't matter what you intend, only how it is received. Your complaining could/is mocking to someone else. And how that someone else receives it is what matters.

It's fun for people on the inside, people on the outside will range from oblivious to ambivalent to feeling like shit. It's generally not fun to realize people are laughing at, not with, you. Especially if you're already sort of nervous about performance.

Really though streaming it makes it worse--elevates from a small in joke to just... Idk.

Let's argue discuss the optimal way of clearing the best coil turn.

No, I get the intent / perceived aspect, I'm more just saying typically speaking, "complaining" going on isn't TO or WITH the person. It's the things said to figure out how to get the run done; "they don't know Divebombs at all, we need to get them in Mumble for this" or "maybe we should just have them eat the wall at this point?" Or, in the case of really bad nights of runs, what causes the frustration and eventual "oh god never carrying again."

Unless this is about the last batch of runs that I was too busy MH4ing instead of doing, it's pretty much never actively taken out against them. Like, why would it? Nothing is usually said them outright unless they're actively being a pain in the ass DURING the run. No reason to. We offered to help, whatever happens happens.

backroom gossip is backroom gossip, always unpleasant and always awful and will probably always happen because we're all awful. Zero defense of any of that and I know I'm beyond guilty of it.

It's fun for people on the inside, people on the outside will range from oblivious to ambivalent to feeling like shit. It's generally not fun to realize people are laughing at, not with, you. Especially if you're already sort of nervous about performance.

PM me if you have to, I'm now really curious as to just what kind of asshat I (or others) have been.

Or don't, if you'd just rather not. That's fine too, I'm just now really curious if all of what I said above is now like thousands of percent hypocritical (which, to be honest, is definitely super likely anyway).

Hey man, I never really claimed that doing it was right or not. I don't really agree with mocking other people or name calling. I've also been one to defend those being picked on, even though I'm one of the largest targets in the entire fc for some reason I don't fully comprehend.

The bottom line is that some people need a thicker skin if what we are saying is being considered complaining. Real talk: When we're in t9 and wipe on the second meteor drop, I'm gonna complain. I'm not gonna call names or become vulgar, but I'm gonna complain. When it's the end of three-four hours of running t9 and we wipe to a supergolem or something, I'm gonna complain. I'm not gonna be happy. I doubt anyone is. If people take that stuff personally and think I'm a bad person because of that, I don't think that's fair. I thought the entire time was a generally positive experience aside from that last run. I feel bad about it, but I've let it go because it's in the past.

We mock each other, mostly Galen (and Galen).
And this is stuff I'm getting moderately sick of. I'm not gonna cause a big deal about it, because I'm not a 10 year old, but it's beginning to drag me down. My confidence had never been lower than it was during that T13 clear because of people ragging on me. I do my damndest to make sure I never make anyone else feel like that. It isn't fun.

That's fine, and I get that. I understand not everyone understands my sense of humor, which is generally very self deprecating. I can't control how people respond to my teasings, but without context and without first hand experience I don't think it's fair to judge behavior from hearsay. I think that what was said about those runs is rather slanderous, and I don't much care for it. Yeah, that's a bit extreme for something so trivial, but in the end that's more or less Felix and I getting called out on a public forum for stuff that is incredibly misleading. I'll admit that I can be a jackass, but not to the extent being discussed.

Also, I apologize in general for starting a shitstorm. I'm sick of them too, but I'm trying to keep this as succinct and on-point as possible.

As someone who goes into mumble on rare occasion every couple months, I always assume you guys are shit-talking someone. I do know a lot of the talk consists of the list Galen posted somewhere above but I've heard and assume that shit talk is sprinkled in. Take that how you will.

I'm sorry man, I didn't realise you were taking the comments seriously. In future I'll make sure they're where they belong: directed at Nin Py.

Yeah, bards are the worst.

Not looking for sympathy or anything about it, just trying to say that I know how it feels and I'd rather people turn their teasing on me than on someone else, since I know I can usually take it. However, combine that with a high-stress situation and like three hours of sleep and it's a bad mix lol.

You guys are doing it wrong.

If you're going to mock people, it should be mocking their race and their fashion, as well as their poor color coordination.

Good, now we can let this die finally and move on and blame the real problem: Nin Py.

Seriously though, when I subbed in, you were doing fine. DPS deaths in T13 are either 100% the DPS' fault (Earthshaker tick, walking into an explosion they shouldn't, Divebomb itself) or entirely not their fault (every-other-fucking-death). There's really nothing you can do about not dying when it's entirely just from taking too much unavoidable damage.

And, all joking aside, Blood for Blood is not the reason. If it is, you were so close to dying anyway that there's probably something else to be done to fix it.

Nothing specific recent or relevant or at all worth getting in to. People say shit, it gets back, whatever. For the most part it doesn't matter. People will vent. Subcommunities form. It's fine, but it doesn't make it less unpleasant for some guy who may or may not legitimately be trying to find out a bunch of people helping him spent a bunch of time complaining about him while not necessarily letting him know he was causing massive issues to his face.

I will admit to probably being obnoxious in FC chat during that T9 stream once I heard my name mentioned because I wanted to be really goddamned sure everyone knew I was listening so nobody said anything I wasn't supposed to hear.

I mostly bring this all up because I know Felix will be annoyed by it too and whine about not having a neogaf account so he could respond directly. Shit happens, but I don't think it's as prevalent as people think. The fact that Asami and Angary both assume people are always shit talking is the kind of notion I'm really trying to dismiss. And yeah, like tigerkiddo says, the shit talking is no good for anyone and should stop, however, people are people, so shit gets said. I'm sure things are said in linkshells in game that aren't always nice about people. It's all the same thing, I think. I also don't want people dissuaded from asking for help because the mean ole mumble bullies will laugh at them behind their backs. That is extremely rarely the case. No one believes that, though, which is disheartening. That's kind of the crux of my argument.

Dude, I understand, really, all the Drama (Please refrain from the obvious joke,) with Second Coil had me feeling like that for months. I mean, I can understand frustration and wanting to clear things faster, but people need to understand that more often than not people ARE trying, they ARE putting the effort in. The frustration some people feel for not clearing content as fast as they'd like is totally understandable, but there's nothing worse for your confidence than being told your best isn't good enough, especially if you've let your guard down around the person telling you this.

Well, okay I think I started rambling a bit, but you get what I'm saying. For what it's worth, I don't have any complaints with you. You've always seemed perfectly capable if not downright helpful, and you always seem to have a good attitude about things.

I've also got to admit that, yeah, sometimes I complain about other players, but it's usually pugs, and I try not to let them hear my grumbling, since I don't actually want to hurt anyones feelings and all that. Honestly, this is a habit I should kick, it probably isn't helpful in any way.

Wow, I'm still rambling aren't I? <_<;;

So yeah, how about the shitty drop rate on that onion knight card?

See, I'd offer to go and help (as ... as best as one person can, I guess, for WoD) but I know I'd get the card and it'd be super awkward.

Better yet, it'll be on my alt
to go with that Puff of Darkness

Yeah, I quite like Galen (and, really, all of us regulars in Mumble). I'm pretty sure I don't do too many blaming Galen jokes outside of when I actually can, legitimately, blame Galen.

It took a lot to resist making a joke at that, so I actually might be the most terrible person around.

I often wonder if people are talking about me behind my back, either in mumble, party/FC/LS chat, etc. But that's just some paranoia on my side, I'm used to that. Though I do prefer when people say their issues with me right to me. Gives me a chance to respond (or ignore... I'm not a big fan of confrontations and I generally try not to upset anyone but sometimes I can't resist responding to folks)

But yeah, I'm just paranoid somewhat but I'm used to being paranoid.

So yeah, how about the shitty drop rate on that onion knight card?

Went in today to help Alice get her drop for this week. WoD run was great, alliances didn't mess up and DPS was pretty good and on top of it all, I get the card at the end of the run.

Was pretty damned happy with that :D. I am on the hunt for the Terra card now though after giving up with Bahamut (for now, I'll get that card from Elmer someday).

In other news, I keep thinking about how I want to get most of my quests in my journal completed before the expansion. And I forget that I still have the Moogle delivery quest line to do. I've got the first quest from that in my journal just waiting to do lol.

Need to find time to finish that off. Luckily I have until June to do that haha.

Maybe it's just sampling bias but it was consistent the few times I went into Mumble and didn't bail the fuck out as soon as the specific thing I was there for was over. There's a reason I've spent substantial time in the lobby all of twice. Maybe I caught you guys on a string of bad days, or maybe it is more prevalent than you think and you just don't notice.
