Serious mode: Anyone will probably have to get at least a couple fights under their belt.


On Heavensward: So we should have at least one more big "final boss" battle before Heavensward hits right? Say...Omega? By final boss, I mean Ultima caliber battle.

Phantom Midgardsormr cant be it, and whatever big dravanian battle shouldnt count either.

Also wont Ishgard flip their lids when they find the Au’Ra are essentially dragon people (arent they)?

Is everyone specifically ignoring that yoshida said at the pax panel that was barely days ago that they've been showing Au Ra females on the cute side of the spectrum but their race is very diverse and there's an opposite side of that spectrum that they haven't showed us yet?

I think the Au Ra are more lizard people. Because if they were dragon related in any way then it'd fuck up the story because you'd have the giraffes in Coerthas refuse to do anything for you (even less so than already) because you're dragon kin and they'd go all westboro baptist church on your ass.


That said I hope we've got one more cool boss. The Chrysalis was a cool fight but we need a big ass boss fight to close out 2.x. Maybe Midgardsomr Hard Mode?

I assumed the succubus thing was more about the complexion being something you can go to for matching the Succubus / Amandine / Halicarnassus models.

That's probably more fitting, and it does look like that's the color scheme allowed in skintones. The translator made it sound like you could look cute or like a soulsucking femdemon though.

Honestly I expect Heavensward to be nothing more than grumpy grandpa Midgar leading the ex-warrior of light on a quest to be a complete dick and spank his unruly 7 sons. Nidhogg included. Along the way we'll sprinkle in a dash of Ascians doing their best to fuel speculation that XII has anything to do with the game and the Garleans continuing to prove that Eorzeans are inept at warfare unless it's done by a slutty cat dressed in swimwear or a potato in a santa/ghost costime. If that.

Or I don't know. Just speculating since we know shit all at the moment.

Also considering we're basically going to upend the Ishgardian pope who's probably corrupt. I hope we get a mount out of it.

At the very least, I'm confident in saying that it won't be at the end of the patch. It releases with 2.55. If they were doing something like that then they would have just said here's atory in .55 but we also have another thing coming in .58

I havent done Chrysalis yet (just unlocked) but the only way that would count is if he transforms into something else imo. I just dont want to see Omega be namedropped and then not show up until much much later.

The actual invasion will probably be more of a fight like the random skirmishes at 1.0's end.

It never occurred to me, but those random events outside Ul'dah in 1.0 (at the end of 1.23's life) where garleans would appear and swarm people. Growing in number, generals spawning based on the number of kills made. Once it was done a reward (in the form of different treasure chests) popping up.

That shit was just the testing for FATEs.

Does Midgar really want to spank his sons?, sounds more to me like he's more of a chaotic neutral type of guy, he just want to observe what's going on, while laughing at our character along the way.

He's playing Chaotic Neutral like every player I've seen play it in real life. Meaning Chaotic Dick rather than neutral. So probably yeah.
I can't think of a reason why he'd want to do it other than because he's old and crotchety.

I dunno, Middy seems like a bad guy because he took away our blessing of light and that seems to be a bad thing for us and the rest of the good guys. He wants to use us in some way so took our protection and follows us around as a little cute dragon. Probably gonna pop up when we're with an Ishgardian and be all "This guy wants to sleep with dragons. You should kill him and the rest of his lot lulz."

We need to get you through crystalis.

Thinking of what's still unresolved: ascians, empire, evil merchant lalafalllelellel and the hunt for Omega, and then what will be mostly in Heavensward, dragons and ishgard. There has to be some story movement that presents the impending opening of the country, but that can't be all of 2.52.

Finding out the differences in translation for middy is troubling. Japan middy doesn't seem as spiteful.

When he took us the protection I feel it it was his way of saying we should depend of our own strength instead of sucking whatever few "lifeforce" Haydelyn has left to fight the ascians.

Chocobo racers, is there any particular stat or ability to aim for/favor in training? Does it even matter? General tips? (I'm only up to R-40 on my first/only race bird, so I'm not too concerned with pedigree/breeding just yet)

So did anyone else get the free login week mail AFTER said week ended? Nice I noticed it mentioned elsewhere because that would've been useless otherwise.

... Actually, how hard is it to penetrate the current late game content? Thinking of resubbing sometime in the near future in lead up to the expansion, just not this month with the flurry of games hitting and other bullshit soon.

Well based on all the infos presented, there will be a goblet/chalice(symbol of the patch) falling(title of the patch). My bet is you're invited to a dinner with Nidhogg and you spill his wine, so he razes Coerthas. Then you have to fix the mess.

I'm relatively new to the game, and I've encountered a problem that I'm not sure is a problem or just me being stupid.

basically, I like to experiment and mess around with many different jobs. It's what I've been doing in my short time with the game so far. I have a level 21 conjurer as my highest level job, and after that I have a level 12 lancer, level 10 maurader, levle 7 archer, and level 6 rogue.

I've found that there are really no quests to do at this point if I'm not on my conjurer. So if I feel like playing my, for example, level 12 lancer, all I can really do is run around looking for fates to join and killing random stuff.

Is there something I'm missing?

Each city has a buch of low level quests that expand to surrounding areas but normally they are up to lvl 15 or so, but yeah, the game is designed in a way that you level up one job through the main questline, which gives you several quests on the way.

The solution is Hunting Log and Fates, that should give you a decent way to lvl up (and dungeons too)

Yeah it can be kinda shitty levelling up addition jobs once you've done the main and side quests. You can do things like the Hunting Log, Levequests, FATEs, dungeons and first time guildhest clears for exp. It's much more of a grind for additional classes but shouldn't be too bad if you use all the tools you have. Obviously levelling a DPS through dungeons can take a looooooot longer than a Tank or a Healer due to the queue times.

I can't remember. I think there is or was a system where they get more exp for being lower than your highest (I might be mixing this up with a different game or a system from XI or 1.0). You do get rested experience which builds up even when you are at 50 so you can use that on lower level classes (though it's a fixed thing, like for 5 levels so you can blow all your rested exp in like 10 mins by going from level 1 to 5 or whatever instead of 40-45 which takes a lot more experience points but is still 5 levels).

Oh wow.

Apparently my character got corrupted when I re-subbed, I have no idea how, so if the GAF guild in Ultros got my message about reinstatement, just disregard it for now. It may take weeks to get it back, if at all, and Ultros isn't letting me make another character there so yay :(
