Honestly, crafting just doesn't appeal to me much. I'm trying to level up my crafting classes anyway, just because it seems like you have to at least dabble in these things if you don't want to be Gil starved almost constantly. However, it's kinda boring, monotonous, and the fact that your gambling Gil doesn't make it any more enjoyable for me.

Gathering, is a bit more enjoyable, since I'm at least getting out into the world. Not really any valuable materials I can mine up at the moment though, need better gear for that, and I'm not going to spend millions on gear that might be obsolete in a few months.

That must've been really tough with the gear and echo you had! :c

It's kinda tough though? I mean in a perfect world solohealing T5 isn't hard, but when the party is comprised of headless chickens?
I'm really enjoying DFing Coil on a Japanese server though. It's a lot more reasonable.

Crafts to 50 is worth it just for self-melding and self-repair, though. It's a utility/laziness thing with a fairly decent long-term return on investment. The bar for two star crafts is also lower than I thought so you can craft your own potions or whatever with minimal gearing and melds.

I think I've made considerably more money from getting bored at midnight and blowing up a hundred shoes than I ever have from crafting, though, since I have all of 1 master book and no artisan anything. Even post-FC3 price collapse you can generally break even there and then get ahead by selling off the hard hippogryph leather. Desynth is more RNG in general but the money works out okay.

Lot of work to not have to visit a vender between lockouts.

Seriously.
I roll in money by doing absolutely nothing half the time.
I was selling like 10 or 20 stacks of poison pots that were going for 1k each not too long ago.
They're not even HQ. I just shot them out auto while watching muh animus.

Gouging people is like half the reason I play this game.

As someone working on Animus #1 (albeit slowly) after reading the Novus upgrade steps I think I may wait to see if they give some clear indication on what will happen with relic weapons in the expansion before setting off down that road. I can't imagine investing all that time and money (...so basically time) into a weapon if it'll be rendered totally useless come Heavensward. I do hope they continue to serve some purpose in the future.

It's all about what's best now when it comes to mmos with this type of gear progression. Everything we have now will likely be useless after a few levels into the expac, not just relics.

Pretty much. WolvenOne mentioned not wasting gil on crafting/gathering gear that would be obsolete. All MMO gear becomes obsolete.

Yeah, I'm no stranger to MMOs and how an expansion can essentially invalidate most or all of a player's work previously. I just think that particular relic/zodiac grind is so ridiculously involved and time consuming that I wouldn't be surprised to see both a continuation of it in the expansion along with some sort of bridge to help newer players catch up, to try and accomodate more folks.

Personally I have little investment having taken a year off from the game since 2.0 launched, as I'm just plunking away at things like crafting and working through the mass of content missed in the last year. Just talking hypotheticals.

Obsolete, "soon."

They've mentioned a couple times already that they're planning to make high level crafting easier to get into before the expansion hits, and in the expansion itself everything will be reset back to zero anyway.

I can sit here, get my crafters to 50, then be on more or less equal footing once the expansion comes out. Or, I can wait until they nerf crafting recipes or whatnot, and the price of the gear plummets. Either way, I end up spending far less Gil, which is currently the one resource I cannot count on being able to farm out as needed.

No time to manually control Eos when I'm here at KH event. BTW Grimm I met everyone here and am chatting with them. We agree that Kagari secretly wants to EB Lighnting instead of Galen.

My current trajectory for marriage is a solid No thanks.
Waifu would turn around and demand half my cash then I'd be out like

Just like real life. You sell your kidney to pay for a pompous wedding but all you get is pretty entourage and then you wonder if there's anything at all to do next.

Newbie question: I tried a few early guildhests as a Marauder and while there were no problems finishing them I had some mysterious issue with the skill "Overpower", which is supposed to create a cone forward. Yet when I chase after adds like the skeletons in "Under the Armor", it becomes disabled despite a full TP bar. This never seems to happen outside of these instances. Any ideas?

You're most likely level synced.

Made back the 13 mil Gil and then some over the weekend :) I just do commissions, I feel bad sometimes seeing PF advertisements for 4* crafters looking for work. Made a ton of Battlecraft I / II Demimateria yesterday just because I'm bored. They even made it easier to make Fieldcraft I as well, Classic Glasses can give 2x yield and all you need is 1x Mythril ingot... which is vendor bought & a Clear Glass lens not even 2, just a matter of time before MasterCraft fall from the sky lol

Expansion is still at least another patch cycle away. You got to spend gil/time to make gil. The more you invest, the more options you have to make gil. Up to you to determine what is worth it. In terms of their crafting plans before expansion...

Q13: Obtaining the higher-tier equipment for Disciples of the Hand is extremely difficult. Will the difficulty be adjustment in the future? I’d like recipes and elements that are a bit easier to get into.

A13: While I believe it’s a good thing that you can’t produce high-quality items through crafting with a macro alone, I would like to make adjustments to the difficulty of obtaining higher-tier Disciples of the Hand equipment.

Addressing this right away would take away the hard work put in by all the Disciple of the Hand players that have obtained this gear already, so while in the Patch 2.x series, the current recipes will be the upper limit and we will be trying to add recipes below this.

The current crafting BiS will remain BiS until May or whenever Heavensward comes out.

Do Time Cards ever go on sale in NA?

They likely never will when that is their revenue. It's the same with all sub based mmos unless the game is dying, sub fees never go on sale.

Best thing to do is go with the $13 sub and just forgo having extra characters. With how the game is set up, there's honestly little reason to have more.

I don't necessarily need BiS to start making some regular returns, which is what I'm really after. Currently, I make the vast majority of my Gil at the beginning of patch cycles. The rest are smaller irregular Gil infusions, that are just barely sufficient to keep me even.

I simply cannot afford to gamble a large amount of Gil, unless I have a reasonable expectation of normalizing my flow of Gil. A slight reduction in the cost of decent gear, would help with that immensely.

I know that T8 is really easy for a lot of you here, but I still didn't get my clear and tried with PF tonight. Ballistics and AF are some hard mechanics that need coordination, and without a decent group it's still impossible to beat.

Anyway, after some tries, this happened:

;-;

Really, we got mad and tried even harder to beat it after this.

So:

Yeah, I know it's easy and that celebration is kinda exaggerated, but it always great when you get one of the coil turns down for the first time (and it's not nerfed too much).

No decent loot for me. Need my shield :(

Couple noobie things:

Ok be honest with me. Is controller a seriously viable option here? I'm on ps4 if the touchpad matters in your answers. Tips/tricks/settings to consider?

Next, I'm on Ultros. Is that where most posting here are? Would it be worth anything to join the GAF FC at such a low level (15) or should I wait til max level?

Thanks all!

Yes, enable the R2+L2/L2+R2 expanded control options. Up to 16 extra buttons! Mess around with target filters, too, because this game does tab target weird.

Might as well join ASAP and enjoy the teleport discounts. Also so when you hit 50 you know who to avoid.

So looking into stuff to mine for gils. Why does Volcanic Rock Salt sell? Looked at it and there is no HQ left on the board, the buyer history shows only HQ seems to sell (and for a lot of gil)

Just wondering why this in particular sells so well (at least HQ ones do, NQ ones seem to linger there)

Needed for high end food. Reason why HQ is selling is due to 4 star recipes like Bacon Bread needing HQ ingredients to HQ it.
