Wasn't there a rumor that nexus is as far as relic goes? Like there's going to be a new relic in the expansion or something.

EDIT: also the thought of alexandrite grinding for 2 months is horrifying.
EDITEDIT: oh I can buy them with soldiery. PHEW

Edit: Also if you feel that strongly about it then probably the best course is brining it to a mods attention rather than feeling you have to quit coming here.

That's a bit rich considering one of the mods is usually involved in it.

Is it worth it to animus->novus->nexus at this point? Knowing that Nexus is the end of the line and i120/i135 weapons exist already, it feels worthless to do relic beyond maybe atma or animus for the glow. I had planned to do it for at least my WAR or PLD but after SCoB unlocked it just seems more efficient to get t9 down and farm for HA weapons.

I do reaaaaaally like the PLD weapon/shield glow however...

T9 is absolutely more efficient (provided the likelihood of consistently getting good groups). Relic is not designed to be efficient, accessible or anything like that. It's designed with one thing in mind only, to waste your time for increasingly diminishing returns. Weapon Damage (read: item level) is such a superimportant stat that provided you're hitting accuracy caps on classes that need it you're gonna do absolutely fine with any weapon of an appropriate item level. That's just how how the game is designed. Relic is hardly anything more than vanity and something-to-do at this point especially considering the ever-increasing game time requirements needed to make it adequate (animus books were straight up buffed now, arguably) so no, it isn't worth it unless you absolutely need to minmax.

^ This,

The relic line is absolute bullshit to keep you busy. I gave up after Animus but yet i had to luxury to get T9 weapon and very soon a Poetics weapon and in about 6 weeks i'll be able to sand it.

Its a solution to get a equal weapon but it will take you weeks and weeks of grinding to get it till Nexus.

For as someone who plays prob 6 hours a week and thats all raid time a Relic isnt possible.

Pretty much what Frumix said: a relic is a horrible timesink that should be avoided at all costs. There are better alternatives.

Just gonna say for the record.

Sometimes I deserve to be set straight, I often wish people did it somewhat differently, but, there's no point really dwelling on it. Dealing with people is just something you've gotta do sometimes, so there's no point in staying upset.

Also, I actually really dislike drama, (Not Drama Zeni, that jokes old,) . I was less upset with Qhon, and more upset that I just couldn't seem to open my mouth without somehow causing drama. Seriously, it's like a really unpleasant talent. In any case, it's kinda disheartening to see yet MORE drama resulting from my earlier comment, as wholly unintended as it may be.

Don't sweat it, bro.

But relic allows you to customise your secondary stats. That's worth something, especially since the game does not have a good selection of equipment for you to choose the stats that you want on your gear.

I don't think some of the newer people realize or understand that this OT needs Nuada.

He's the Tiduz of the OT. Reading his posts is like the newspaper with your OJ

Now Lego my eggo

I'll say, I personally prefer reading and watching his interactions with Qhon and others than the same few people bragging about coil loot, to me they're both the same, atleast Nuada and the responses he gets are entertaining.

Thanks for giving me another post to add to the "Reminding me why I play on a server with friendly people" pile!

Please don't view this thread as indicative of the atmosphere on Ultros. In my experience in GAF FC chat and just in general player interaction it is a very friendly and helpful community.

2.5 sec global cool down feels really off on the monk for me. I can't enjoy the class at all. I think I need to pick a class that in my mind wouldn't be a lightning fast attacker.

In all fairness, there are absolutely trolls and jerks in the GAF FC. They're everywhere, so it's inevitable, and leadership act if they get too bad (RIP "kill yourself" lady), but random flare-ups of bickering in the OT aren't out that out of character. It's generally easy to avoid, though, because it is the vast minority of the group, and once you get the handful of people to ignore or disregard down it's pretty worthwhile overall.
Avoiding mumble helps, since people seem to be more free-wheeling with shit talking when there's no chance of screenshotting.

To be honest, I don't see it too much in game. Maybe I'm just missing it but people seem to be much more at each other's throats here in the OT. I think it's probably because the people who post here are the progression raiders who tend to be more on edge. But there's a whole other group of learning/casual players that aren't represented on the OT really at all. I also don't go into mumble too much, so not sure about that.

So, T9 spear dropped for me, and that got me thinking about how to keep my DRG class up to date for upcoming content. Long story short, I've got two more pieces of Tank Poetics gear I'm going to buy, then I'm moving on to grab DRG/STR gear. What I'm wondering, is what I should be prioritizing first.

Option 1: Body Pieces, specifically to replace the crappy Soldiery pieces? (Most the Coil pieces aren't all that much better, even if I could regularly farm T9 for the body piece.)

Option 2: Accessories, I can use them on the Strength build of my Warrior, so it'd be double the value.

Side note: I'm also working on ranking up in PVP. The 110 DRG PVP pieces are a bit light on accuracy, but with a little mixing and matching they should be good for everything save for Final Coil. This would only be a stop-gap however, and later for vanity. (Probably mostly for vanity, considering the time it'll take to grind this out.)

Additional side note: Yeah, with the DRG buffs, I'll probably keep that as my primary DPS class. I'm still leveling monk, but between leveling, gearing, and learning, it'd be a long time before I was a viable Monk. I'm already a viable DRG, and with the penalty for positionals being reduced, and Magic Defense being increased, the class should be a lot less frustrating to play.

Besides, gotta get back to leveling my alt.

Edit:

PS: Keeping positionals in last phase of T9 = Living on the edge! D:

Why would you get gear that you don't think would be usable in Final Coil? You are better off getting Magitek and the occasional coil drop, with crafted gear filling in anywhere that it is needed. It doesn't make sense to grind out pvp.

How much ?

  • Entry £7.69/€10.99/$12.99 - 30 day (more limited number of characters)
  • Standard £8.99/€12.99/$14.99 - 30 day
  • Standard £8.39/€11.99/$13.99* - 90 day
  • Standard £7.69/€10.99/$12.99* - 180 day

Honestly I'd prob just take the entry if I didn't have legacy pricing, there's literally no reason to have more than one character in the vast majority of cases unless you really really like running coil more often. It's one character per server totaling 8 iirc on entry vs up to 40 on the others.

There is a lot of trash talk in mumble, though to be fair a lot of it is when the target is in the actual mumble room.

#noninpys

The couple of times I spent any length of time idling in the mumble lobby, it was specifically not about people in the room, and didn't seem in the spirit of good-natured ribbing. Which on the one hand is probably inevitable in any game and not in and of itself a big or notable deal, but on the other I was generally happier not actually knowing it goes on. Ignorance is bliss, and all.

yea but the entry and the 180 days are the same amount of money so...why not ?

Because one requires a month long commitment and the other is assuming you're going to actively play for six months. I'd suggest going with the entry level one to start, and if you find yourself convinced you like the game enough for the long haul, go nuts with that six month sub.

True, plus I think you get the fat chocobo out the gate if you roll 180, your choice homie. If you're prepped to jump that long into the game then go for it, shit's dope except for the fact that next week they're letting cats marry cats. Otherwise great.

I see thanks guys. One more thing i need to buy the game and then start paying monthly? cuz the game itself cost 20 eu

You get 30 days free out the gate, check around for any cyber Monday/black Friday whatever sales left over. It was as low as like 10 bills from what I saw.

While I love everyone in mumble as someone who used to frequent it, attitudes and the general contempt for the casual player/community at large has becone so unbearable that I just stopped logging in anymore. Not sure how it's been during angaray's time as I don't think I've ever been in there with her.

A more accurate description of Mumble lobby from the past week:

"I got a mooch!"
"Oooooooooohhhh! I GOT IT!!!!!"
"FUCK, IT GOT AWAY!"
"I'm going to catch your weakened fish."
"Heatwaves coming at 4PM."
"What bait do I need, guys?"
"Which fish you going for next?"
"I'm going to bed. Good luck with fishing."
"Good night, Drama."

Mumble ruined fishing. Used to be a time I could go fish wherever and not see another soul. Now there's all these people in my MMO. I didn't ask for this.

(But seriously mumble let me blow up your fishes. 98.17 desynth; skillups are hard to come by.)

Yeah, t9 weapons are great and all, but what happens if you've cleared it 20+ times and still don't have a weapon?

;-;

Well you keep trying. I'm at 36 and there's still one more item I want. Took 25 just to get →High Allagan Pantaloons of Healing. RNGesus can be awful.

But relic allows you to customise your secondary stats. That's worth something, especially since the game does not have a good selection of equipment for you to chose the stats that you want on your gear.

Just barely. When you consider time investment versus returns, well, suddenly just getting a couple more poetics pieces instead sounds like a better prospect.

You actually give up, stop running it till it's irrelevant and then when you help your new FC mates through it, you see it drop. By then you don't want it and you're left to ponder why the RNG hates you so.

GCD goes down as you level slash gear up your characters. This is especially true for Monks and Ninjas, as they have innate Skill Speed buffs. Mind you, I don't play either class at endgame, so I don't know how low their GCDs go.
