Roommate and I resubbing this weekend. Haven't played since a week after 2.1 hit. Looking forward to trying some of the new dungeons/trials :)

Logged out at ilvl 90 mainly with mythic/alagan gear, what sort of gear progression should we be looking at if we want to start taking on second coil?

You'll want a lot of soldery and allied seals for the 100lv sold gear. Sold from almost everything you do, allied seals from hunts.
Also, you'll want to do a lot of Syrcus tower for filler 100 gear and oils/sands so you can upgrade the 100 sold gear to 110.

Thanks! What about weapons? I have the zenith (sword), is it good to upgrade that to artemis or seek out another i100/i110 alternative?

From what I've seen of these designs so far, they're a mixed bag. Some are good, some are, not so good.

Still want a couple pieces tho. Especially the accessories. Most the Poetics body tank pieces are actually pretty good, the accessories though, well stat wise I like most of the Dreadwyrm accessories a bit better.

The main point of emphasis for Monks is keeping their Greased Lightning stacks up, as they increase attack speed. Feeling slow without stacks is the game's intention. Monks also want enough Skill Speed to fit in 5 GCD attacks during Perfect Balance.

With regards to Desynthesis skill ups to 100, I am glad I planned out hoarding all the mythology and Allagan gear to get both WVR and GSM to 100 soon after 2.4 hit. I am hoping to get BSM desynthesis from 1 to 85 in a quick burst, once I get started.

My honest first reading of this is that you were a trash can taking offense at the comparison to dreadwyrm.

Buttwing robe is entertaining enough to keep existing; everything else I've seen armor-wise is like a test to see how unappealing they can make raid gear before people give up on the status symbol aspect and just glamour over it.

Nah, I was just making a Nin Py joke. There's a lot of truth to what you say, and I'm as guilty of it as anyone, though I'm trying to contain to 'random BRD in Duty Finder who refuses to use moves other than heavy shot'.

I really don't think it's necessarily abnormal group behavior or inherently problematic from an objective viewpoint (venting is a thing that's inevitable) it just bugs the shit out of me personally so I avoid mumble and take potshots at it and its denizens when I can. Everyone wins!

Poetics gear overall isn't super impressive (I like the healer body, at least), and both the tome and raid gear this time around don't go with anything (bards wearing the crafted i110 coat and poetics gloves/boots unglamoured should be ashamed), but it's less aggressively purple, so.
 
Dreadwyrm healer gear is so amazing looking. Especially that head piece. It's the one head piece that would look great on my hair model and I can't wear it. I get some stupid looking crown.

Well, first, because I have no plans to go DRG in Final Coil. I may be a passable DRG, but its still not a class I play all that often. I'll play it when it's a GAF run and there are already two tanks, if there's some piece of equipment I want specifically, or, for niche purposes, (See: Single Tank T9 runs.)

Second, because if I do grind it out, it'd mainly be niche gear until I'm done getting Poetics for my Tank.

Third, because it's good vanity gear. (PVP Dragoon gear looks pretty swaggin.)

Fourth, I kinda want that PVP horse mount anyway, so, two birds with one stone.
 
I don't like getting into the drama stuff (STOP RIGHT THERE GALEN), but I wanted to throw this out there in support of both the FC and even mumble. While there is talk of people being bad or not playing very well, I'll take that any day of the week over the trash I see from pugs or even other "known" members of other FCs. Last night before GAFers joined my Ifrit EX farm, I had members of other well-known FCs join my PF. Instantly the party chat turned into homophobic slurs and extremely vicious shit talking about people sucking, ie this is why CL left, this is why X person got kicked from Y static, etc. After not clearing Ifrit a single time in 3 tries, most people bailed. It was pretty much the most repulsive discussion/chat I've seen in the game in a long time, and reminded me that GAF is very friendly and why I would be terrified to join another FC (like a more serious raiding FC) because I expect the chat to be intimidating and far from welcoming.

That's why I waive off whiners worried about how we talk to each other. We are baby mode compared to other people on the server and FFXIV is baby mode compared to other MMOs.

See, pretty swaggin. Plus the 110 version has some tweaks, and is red, so it's even more swaggin. I mean yeah, that's not the best reason to grind to max rank in PVP, but it's not as if I have a ton of other things to do.

Should cut their TP pool duration down by about a minute (roughly puts it at Monk rate, probably a little bit longer still) and their total damage should go down on average ~2% damage on single-target.
 
Well, I don't Ninja, but if some Ninja attacks are Physical, and other are magical, then that'd be a relatively effective buff. I mean, it'd reduce potency of certain attacks by something like 20-40%. Depends on if those two buffs stack or not, again I don't know, I don't nin.

Just, speculating until finer minds can chime in.

So they are basically just adjusting ninjutsu damage? Doubt that TP change will do a whole lot. Over a long fight it'll be noticeable but a monk is still gettin TP starved way before nin.

What? The relic quest stops forever at i115??? Ugh. I'm still debating whether to spend the money on the Tier IV Det and Crit materia to finish up my Novus. It's just so damn expensive. But if it just ends I might as well just finish up with skill speed or something lame like that. I still have time though, since I'm not done with the Alex grind (and have been taking my sweet time).

Fishing next to someone else is the worst. When it happens to me for the Ixali dailies and I hear the sound of catching a fish I end up reeling in the fish only to realize it was the guy next to me with the catch. And when you lose a mooch attempt to that, you'll really want to kill him.

Ninjas have Huton, which greatly speeds up their GCDs. Going back to WAR after playing ninja for a while is the worst. Soooo slow.

Yeah, looking forward to the expansion, if only because the extra 10 levels should shorten down the GCD's a bit. I don't need much, just SLIGHTLY smaller gaps between GCD's would be nice.

Edit: Conversely, I'm dreading having to remodel my crossbar layouts again, argh! XD

I am still not enjoying my BRD. Guess its time to hang it up and take up the lance now that DRG are going to be buff as shit. I've already got a background in taking a ton of damage as a tank, I know how to use my moves like repelling shot to blast myself into walls, off cliffs, into AoEs and the like.

I'm the perfect candidate.
 
Really thinking about re subbing only got to lvl 47 as a DRG got bored because i had no one play with

since i've just joined GAF (hooray!) was thinking if i can join you guys in-game be really cool to do dungeons/raids etc with you guys

has much changed since i quit? (quit around the whole frontlines thing happend)
