Final Fantasy XV Demo Previews/Impressions Thread

Can't be worse than Phantasy Star.
In PSU, my room had a Fanta machine and a life sized statue of Colonel Sanders.
I also have the 7-Eleven uniform in PSO2.

I also have vague memories of Final Fantasy VII characters adorning 12 packs of Pepsi products. Couldn't dig up any images though.

For all we know, this could be like an FFXIII-2 "town". I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Here's a WIP video of the town. It looks like it will be similar in feeling to FFXII.

Final Fantasy XV is full of smart ideas, and although the tropes are all there—phoenix downs, gysahl greens, peppy victory music—it feels totally different than any Final Fantasy before it, more akin to Skyrim or Far Cry

Drat. If I wanted to play Far Cry or Skyrim, I'd play Far Cry or Skyrim. Heck, I hated Oblivion, so this does not bold well.
This is just one opinion. Many others remarked at how much it felt like a Final Fantasy despite the 'realistic' setting, open world, and action battle system.

To me, the core of Final Fantasy has always been that it sets you on a fantasy adventure unlike anything else the medium offers.

I expect FFXV will probably deliver on that.

So, what are the chances of Type-0 HD & FFXV: Episode Duscae being released on the Playstation Store in a timely manner on Tuesday? I'm going to have to wait until 10:00PM to play it, aren't I?

You won't be waiting alone :(

Also time zones suck so I'll probably have to wait until like 2 am

Can't wait to see some crazy set pieces like from the TGS '13 extra footage. Looked amazing. And I wonder if that face cam/phone HUD is still in.

I'm just ready to see some more cities, more grey, more bricks. We've seen more than enough green from the game. Here's hoping for a new trailer (and release date [TGS most likely]) at E3.

i want to finally see some city footage from Accordo

Tough i think we will only be able to visit certain areas of that citiy. The whole City would be too much for the consoles...i think

I'm pretty certain it'll be the entire city. The few times we've seen it in real time it has been quite vast, and considering Noctis was swimming in one of the clips that sorta indicates the degree of freedom we have.

Yea but we can't even swim in the demo.

Ah man I forgot about that.

I'm still trying to grasp how exactly the Titan fight will work. I mean, are they gonna attack the head? The feet?

You can already attack multiple parts of the body on the Behemoth, so it's probably the same for the Titan.

I don't care how the fight goes as long as there's no QTEs.

We can't do a lot of things in the demo that'll be in the final game. It doesn't mean they won't be in the final game.

Swimming being one that Tabata has never said anything about and seems like a mechanic he would of brought up if we were going to get it. Could be wrong but things have changed and we haven't seen anything from the E3 trailers with the new build or the new gameplay.

He explicitly said that you could swim.

Remember that that was from a target render. Which is always way more fluid than actual gameplay.

I'm sure excited for the inevitable uploads of the Duscae soundtrack. The new recording of Omnis Lacrima sounds absolutely amazing.

Does anyone know if the second half of the Tokyo Game Show theme is in Duscae somewhere?

Just realized they could strategically place Ads everywhere in the game.

Put a BK wrapper here, a discarded pair of Adidas there, enemies with a torn Nike shirt, etc.

There you go. It's one of the details that I honestly couldn't remember if he did say anything about and since we haven't seen it I assumed it might of been cut.

Yeah, there just happens to be a lot they're promising but just isn't in the demo. It's a bit upsetting. If we do swim, I don't think there'll be actual exploration underwater or anything.

The things from the E3 trailer we haven't seen are:
The setpieces (clearly still in);
Multiple playable characters (cut);
Swimming (already confirmed);
Noctis slamming that guy's head on the ground and then another one on the car (probably a parry, but we haven't seen something so contextual since E3);
Noctis warping and kicking the guy (probably part of the setpiece);
Noctis doing that weird dodge to the Giant (probably a parry, but we don't know);
Parkour stuff (probably only done during setpieces);
Noctis kicking that guy in the face (no idea what that could even be);
Gladio protecting Noctis from an attack (probably a cutscene, since there's a camera change and all that);
Destructible environments (not shown, but confirmed they will be in the game in some capacity)...
And I guess the old battle system if you want to count that...

We've seen everything else:
The parries;
The scene of Noctis climbing the Behemoth;
The co-op attacks;
All the warps (the ones where you throw your weapon and the ones you warp instantly);
Summons;
Cities;
Cover;
Magic (not in the demo, but was already shown);
Noctis jumping over the guy's shoulder.

Most of the stuff we haven't seen are probably contextual actions, so I doubt any of them will turn out to be a game mechanic (I'd like Noctis kick to be one though).

This game is set in another world and universe, but it's asking me to believe that a real-life company, from our world, exists in it. And for the sake of product placement. It's just jarring and shameless. Those other examples he made aren't similar to this because we, as players, need to be able to understand what is written or is being said so that's why our alphabets and calendars exist in it. Our languages show up all the time in fictional stories because, again, we need to be able to understand. That's always been a thing. But putting a real world company into the game when it makes no sense to be there... I mean, the damn Mountain Dew Transformer in Michael Bay's movie makes more sense than this.

So if a real-life company who makes camping goods being in the game makes you feel like that, how do you feel about the real-life company Roen making the clothing the characters wear? Shouldn't it have been jarring and shameful to you from long ago?

Just got guaranteed release day delivery from Amazon for the collector's edition. Too bad UPS doesn't deliver until around 8PM in my neighborhood. I'm gonna be so tired at work on Wednesday. I'll be playing that demo to completion before I sleep.

First of all I don't know shit about the Roen thing. I've only seen it mentioned here a few times, and I think this has already been touched upon.

Marketing for this game can work with anything...doesn't have to be camping related or car related. This game looks way more appealing than XIII.

As long as SE doesn't fuck it up with releasing it with an Ad from Leona Lewis or anyone similar....they should stick to the whole epic orchestrated music and advertise the whole adventuring aspect of the game.

Square's marketing in the 90's were phenomenal.

The entire cast is dressed from head to toe by Roen.The little skulls on their outfits is Roen's Branding.

Roen is a high end fashion company in Japan.Its Sort of like having Prada/Zara outfits etc in a game ,but it upsets no one because Roen is unfamiliar to us.

The coleman thing is really cool.I don't understand the uproar.

Eh, the real world branding breaks immersion in a fantasy game. Not a deal breaker for me though, but noticing it will definitely take me out of my immersion when I play.

The difference is Roen designed the costumes just for this game. The camping stuff is copied exactly from existing items.

I think it'll be subtle and you have to pay attention to notice it.

I doubt we'll have any full on adverts in the game.

I have the type of personality that notices all those little things and keeps them in my mind whenever the opportunity to notice them arises :/
