I'm really sensitive towards frame pacing myself. I'm staying strong and holding off from the game until this December patch. This is going to be really really hard
I got the collectors on Amazon it was insanely discounted. It comes with a massive poster......of you wish to see it click the link, at the end of this post. I won't post the map in case some people don't want to know anything at all about locations, outposts and what not. Just skimming through beautiful maps lay throughout the guide with legends detailing every item location and then zooming in on let's say the gas station for tighter location finder due to clutter of them. It shows the locations of all side quests, hunts, and even dungeons. Also unlike dark souls 3 guide, all items are displayed easily in the primer. Step by step is great, ALSO TELLS YOU THE BONUSES for responding to accepting quests. Percentage of items you will get at certain deposits and mineral spots since they aren't set and are random.
Saw the second map in the guide and said thank fuck I have this because there is shit......literally everywhere. This world looks insane and massive as fuck.
After the main game pages everywhere hunt, quest, collectible you name it is listed there. Every dungeon has a topographical map with collectibles, every base had again maps with collectibles. Maxing out ap usage, full on party building, in depth strategy of playing the game. It's one of the best guides I have seen. There is literally a map for almost everything in the game showing you exactly what you want to know.
Man I don't understand the leveling system like at all. It kinds of remind me of final fantasy x or 13 but it's not making sense. I am not having enough points to finish the first grid or whatever this thing shape is .also. I am still at the first one. is this for noctis only ?
Also how do I activate
his special powers you get from the tombs ?
Another thing. I really don't care about his fishing or the other dude cooking skills . Are they important ? Lol
I thought I am doing fine leveling up ( level 5 so far till I got from the
second tomb
and I saw a stupid tiger looking thing that kicked the living crap out of me . Whats up ? Lol
I was rereading Verendus's "impressions" posts just for kicks and I decided to round up all of the things he was incorrect about after all. So, as was requested:
Taking influence from the United States, the Caribbean, and several European countries, it's an amalgamation of styles that leads to quite a cohesive and engrossing world that grows stranger the deeper you head inside.
This is not true. The fantasy/reality blend is pretty consistent throughout the game. (The strangest parts are actually within dungeons in the first half.)
Magic synthesis allows you to craft different spells using your basic elements. You equip whatever you've created into a slot, which then allows you to use it in battle. You're left to experiment in order to create these spells, which is not to my liking. I would've preferred a more guided take, especially as various spells that I could've created all seemed a little useless. There are a lot of combinations, but sometimes less is more.
Also not true. There's no experimenting necessary -- the game tells you exactly what each spell will do before you craft it. None of them are useless. And there aren't actually a lot of combinations.
With all of these components, it's up to you to put together what you think will make you the most effective killing machine. Whether you focus on creating a one man army in Noctis using weapons, or employing more magic use, or creating a slow and methodical style that creates some distance with your enemies, there's plenty of depth and potential for enthusiasts who may want to really dig in.
This isn't really how the game works. Noctis is always a one-man army. You can't focus on a "slow and methodical style."
The weapons you decide to utilize are important. As you have equipment slots that allow you to rotate between your weapons in battle using your directional pad, it's important to plan ahead and have the right combination at disposal. A balanced approach will take you a long way without having to tinker too often, but you can also opt to abuse the more damaging weapons.
Also not how the game works. You don't have to plan ahead - you can switch gear mid-combat. And there are no "more damaging weapons" to abuse. The powerful Lucis weapons all drain your HP, so they come at a cost.
Summons are visually impressive and awe-inspiring. They're not a central component of the battle system, but aside from Final Fantasy 10 they never were. They do feel useful however, and their various attacks are a great addition. It's a solid return to form and I feel a lot more satisfied with their use here as I thought they were wasted in Final Fantasy 12 and 13.
There is also a very clear Naughty Dog influence in the storytelling of Final Fantasy XV. Rather than relying mostly on cutscenes, a lot of story and character information is conveyed while you're roaming the world or travelling in your car while you have access to it. As I don't mind cutscenes at all, I was a little disappointed that there wasn't more of them. They're still present, and while the game doesn't lose its story focus if you're sticking to the main narrative, it does feel a little unbalanced early on due to their spaced out nature. Much like some Naughty Dog games, Final Fantasy XV exchanges plot focus for heavier character focus, and this has its advantages and disadvantages.
Very much not true. There are tons of cutscenes in the game.
His journey also allows us some contrasts with other characters. An example of this is Luna who's already aware of what her responsibility is, and is determined to see it through. This gives her an important role as a driver of events in the background. Noctis is a little unsure of how to handle his duty and has always had people to look after him, but Luna has lived a comparatively difficult life, and has already grown as a result. The fact that she's busy doing what needs to be done does make it interesting when the characters all become involved in the action together since it makes for a cool moment.
Welp, even though I was charged for my Deluxe Edition like 9 hours ago it still says "shipping soon" on Amazon. Guess I won't be playing until at least Wednesday now.
Did you preorder? If so, trust in the amazon gods. I've had stuff shipped and arrived on the same day, always ended up being a warehouse closer than I thought.
Sorry if this has been asked already, but what is the trophy situation looking like? If I do all the sidequests is it a reachable platinum? Or am I going to have to dodge lightning
It's been commonly used in PC Performance threads for a good while. I started noticing people using the term with console games when Bloodborne released.
It's not some buzzword thing. It's just as important as framerate.

i would explain but it's kind of spoilery. but there are huge plot holes all over the place. for example, even at the time of kingsglaive lucis are in an uneasy truce with niflheim but regis is still okay with his son (the heir to the throne) heading out on his own with 3 of his friends.

Don't know if it's been posted but if you order $25 worth of books at Amazon you get $10 off with promo code Holidaybook. The collectors edition guide is $23 right now so find a cheap book (might I recommend Common Sense, paperback for $2.70) and enter end the code. I got the collectors strategy guide and a book for $17.69

This is also false. Maybe spoilery?
Summons are almost never used in the game.

It's one of those technical issues you wish you could go back to ignoring. The less you know with these things the better lol. I didn't mind it in Bloodborne for the most part. Going by some of the videos posted here it seems really annoying. If you can notice the stutter that badly just by panning the camera around it ends up hurting the experience quite a bit for me.
